  • reground polycarbonate

    Hi
does anyone have use for reground polycarbonate ?

Can be used in injection moulding machines or possibly mixed with a glass fibre resin to make a bodyshell shape.

Yes and no is the answer
We use polycarbonate in its virgin state where I work which comes as little pellets about 2-3 mm in size,it is heated to about 350 C in high pressure injection moulding machines.

      Damaged mouldings are ground up.

Chances are most peeps wont have such a machine in their sheds but if you can find a way to melt it or mix with a bonding agent- our waste product (reground polycarbonate) is only going to landfill otherwise.

Theres not tons and tons of the stuff but 50-100kg is usual.

would it be suitable for inclusion with fibreglass as a filler and strengthener.
