I know this may sound weird but i think i may have found a way to upload WHOLE episodes of robot wars. On an american friends forum i have found some people have encodied whole epsiodes of friends from tv onto their computers and people then download them using a website like rapidshare which is a better version of you send it. So does anyone know anything about encoding and if its possible to use this for robot wars

Nah
Right, I have heard stuff about this, if you have a sky plus box, it is possible to fit an ethenet socket and connect it to the computer where you can get the stuff from the sky box onto the computer. But I have no idea on the techinal side of it (Except for that it is illegal)

Sky boxes have RCA phono and scart sockets, either will go straight to compatible video and soundcards in the computer (most are nowadays). You can either transfer recorded programmes or even live tv.
If recording programmes off the tv were illegal theyd have already banned DVD recorders, VCRs and arrested nearly everyone in this country. The problem only comes if you use the recordings for commercial gain or file sharing etc.

True, but if you hack your sky plus box, its worth putting in a new larger hard-drive in as well because the standard hard-drives have been reported to give up the ghost after a couple years of medium-heavy use.

Sounds like a problem with your box Alistair, have had Sky+ since it came out and Ive never had a jump programme - and you do realise you can just chuck in a larger hard drive dont you, just like you would with your computer ?
