Hi all.

Watched a program in discovery a while ago about the building of the Palm Jumeriah, Palm Jebel Ali, Palm Deira and The World Islands off the coast of Dubai. Ever since i have been following the progress online.
Thought this might be of interest to some people.

Amazing country is the UAE especially Dubai - vastly different to the other Arab and Islamic countries I have visited. Kuwait would have been very similar if not for the Iraqi invasion.

Will certainly be going out for a holiday.
Will probably wait for 5-10 year until a lot of the building work is complete and my kids are a bit older.

Looks like its going to be some place to visit.

Ive heard many stories from my road traffic accident lecturer. He went over there to work. Most stories involve camels

The camels usually end up being convicted for speeding and jumping red lights
In Egypt most traffic accidents can be attributed to donkeys.

I now work for the company that built several of the dredgers used in the island project. We also have an offic in Dubai. But I havent been there yet :-(

One thing I dont like is that too little is given to green space - unless its a golf course. The place sadly lacks parks and gardens and has very few public beaches.

All i can mention is camels.. and running over them so be aware

You dont run over a camel - its more likely to run over you LOL
BTW I was taught how to grade camels and my son has kissed a sealion - 3 times no less!
