  • NSBFLX-2

With NSBFL 7 drawing to a close, I thought Id start the thread for this early so hopefully by the time its done, Ill have the sign-ups for this completed. Entry rules are the same for NSBFL 7, so if you want to check them, look at the first page of that thread. Without further ado, here are the events:

    All Stars

No sign-ups for this. The 16 seeds from series 7 get to have one last shot at fame and glory after what happened to them in the main wars. There will be 4 4way melees, with one machine moving through from each, and then straight knockouts from there.

Current champ: Steve with Wedge Devo.

    Tag-team

Enter two of your own machines, or team up with a mate. Either way, I want eight teams for straight knockout action.

Current champ: Rich with Battle Raptor and Drilla Killa.

    The Bizarre Battles

Yes, Im deeply sorry to say these are back. I need four machines for these, who I will then put up against four specially selected opponants. I will then write a fight with an unusual ending, and then the fun really begins as everyone who wants to take part guesses what they think happened. Remember, there is always some logic no matter how twisted.

    Robo footy

I want eight teams of players for this. The rule about active shooting parts is this:

You are allowed anything so long as it is only able to move the ball. So a flipper is allowed, but it is not allowed to flip more than 3 KGs. Anything that can be potentially used to attack the other players is not allowed.

Current champ: Andy with Kahn and Ronaldo.

    New Blood

I want 12 to 16 robots for this, depending on turn-out. You are limited to one robot each. There will be four 3-4 way melees with one robot going through from each, followed by straight knockout rounds. The winner will get the ninth seeding in NSBFL 8, and the runner up shall get 16th seeding.

    Arena selection

I personally do not like the Unimmediate Peril arena. For one thing its a tad boring, for another when the house robot enters it becomes unfair, and its also a mouthful to type. So I want 8 robots entered in this to undergo 1-1 battles in four new arenas. Once the fights are done with, you guys can vote your favourite and it will replace Unimmediate Peril in NSBFL 8.

    TYOM

I cant divulge any details on this at the moment, because it could lead to manipulation. Dont worry, it will be nothing like the BB series, however it is completely original. Basically I need one robot from as many people that want to enter. Thats right, there is no limit to the amount of people that can enter this.

    Get him!

Some of you may remember Aaron Knights grudge match series, and the match I suggested for it that turned out pretty popular. Thats right, this is based on Get The Disc.

First, I need four brave people to enter a robot to be gotten, and twelve more people to enter a robot to get it, resulting in four 4-way melees. If you enter a robot to be gotten, you are allowed to enter a robot in another melee as a getter if you so wish. Please note you are only allowed to enter one getter, and must specify which of the four robots to be gotten you wish to get.

Basically, the winner is the robot who scores the killing blow on the robot to be gotten. It doesnt matter if Archangel of the Abyss does the most damage to Monsoons Back, if GeForce then throws it from the arena, then GeForce will be the winner. If the fight lasts the full five minutes, or if the robot to be gotten immobolises all its opponants, then it will win. The last bot standing arena will not be used in this series.

    Grudge matches

Im relaxing the rule with these. Have a random fight for whatever reason you want.

    Annihilator

To round things off with a nice bit o violence, Ill need 6 entries. Thats right, Im letting people enter this one

Maybe I should have made this clearer. You cant enter any getters until I have the four robots to be gotten, as you have to specify which robot you wish to get.

Also, does anyone know what Dave means by P.C.C?

Anthony, you are allowed in. However, you didnt specify if you want Psycho Clan to be gotten or a getter. If a getter, then please wait until I have all four robots to be gotten, as I only have two.

EDIT: Also, I know I should have specified this, but no cluster bots in the football please :P

                        Ill enter, Frank!

Tag Team: Battle Raptor 3 & Drilla Killa 7
                        Bizarre Battles: Agro 3
                        Robo Footy: MORD2 & Tenderizers Revenge 2
                        TYOM: Death Adder 3
                        Annihilator: MORD2

                        BATTLE RAPTOR 3
                        Weight: 100kg
Shape: Low box, painted orange with black stripes like the raptors in Jurassic Park, with a low scoop at the front, with a hammer and a decorative Velociraptor head attached to either side of the scoop (the heads are on the sides of the hammers)
                        Dimensions: 95 x 60 x 30
                        Speed: 17mph
Ground Clearance: 0 at front due to scoop, 0 at sides and back due to skirts, 4mm behind skirts
                        Turning Circle: 0
Armour: 5mm titanium; scoop is 3mm titanium
Wheels: 4, inside robot, poke out the top so the robot can run inverted, use skid steering
                        Power: 36V battery and motors
Weapon: A CO2 powered flipper/axe. The weapon is positioned at the front of the robot, with a 3mm titanium scoop at the end resting on the floor. Two small Beta-style pointed hammers are fixed to the side of the scoop, extending just above it. The weapon fires quickly like an axe, turning 180 degrees to flip anything at the front and axe anything at the back. It then returns to its original position at a slower speed, because it would deform the flipper otherwise.
Srimech: Weapon acts as srimech. If weapon fails in resting position, robot can run inverted because the hammers on the scoop do not extend to the full height of the robot when it is right side up and therefore do not prop it off the floor. It cannot rest on its sides and rear due to the skirts, which flop down when it is inverted.
Tactics: Flip skirtless opponents and axe skirted opponents.
Strengths: Multi purpose weaponry; invertable; fast
Weaknesses: Cannot use weaponry when inverted except as srimech; wheels vulnerable to axes

                        DRILLA KILLA 7
                        Weight: 99kg
Shape: Low invertable box, painted red, with a Tornado-like low wedge at the front, and an upside down one at the back for when the robot is upside down, and skirts at the sides fixed at the centre so they work whichever way up the robot is
                        Dimensions: 110 x 40 x 25
                        Speed: 17mph
Ground Clearance: 0 at front due to wedge; 0 at sides due to skirts, 3mm behind skirts, 25cm at most at back due to inverted wedge
                        Turning Circle: 2cm
                        Armour: 5mm titanium
                        Wheels: 6, inside robot
                        Power: 36V battery and motors
Weapon: Each wedge has a hole in the centre - inside each hole is a diamond tipped drill, spinning at 600 rpm, which comes out of the hole using a motor. It can come out to cause damage when an opponent is on the wedge, or can stay out and cause damage when the robot rams opponents.
Srimech: Invertable; cannot rest on sides due to skirts
Tactics: To get under unskirted opponents, slam them around and bring out the drills to damage their underbellies; to ram skirted opponents with the drills out and try to cause damage
                        Strengths: Good pushing power
Weaknesses: Drills may not penetrate very thick armour; high ground clearance at back

                        AGRO 3
                        Weight: 100kg
Shape: Low invertable wedge with a low square hinged plate at the front
                        Dimensions: 85 x 65 x 40 (cm; l x w x h)
                        Speed: 17mph
Ground Clearance: 0 at front due to hinged plate, 1cm at sides and rear
                        Armour: 4mm titanium
                        Wheels: 2, inside robot
                        Power: 36V battery and motors
Weapon: The hinged plate at the front allows 0 ground clearance - it can surpass skirts with a good push. Inside the wedge, half sticking out of it about 10cm back from the front, is a 8kg 3000RPM Tetanus Booster-like spinning drum - when opponents are on the wedge, it can damage them and often flip them over. At the rear is a 8kg 2000RPM X Terminator-like vertical spinning disc.
Srimech: Invertable, but drum cannot be used upside down. It stops when the robot is inverted and doesnt hinder movement, but holds the wedge up a little bit, increasing the ground clearance. The hinged plate at the front flops down and touches the ground so the wedge still works.
Tactics: Try to get under opponents and use the drum on them. If I cant, use the rear disc on them.
                        Strengths: Fast, manouverable, dangerous weaponry
Weaknesses: A little tricky to control, high ground clearance

                        M.O.R.D2
                        Weight: 110kg
Shape: Box, with sides that slant outwards from the top and bottom edges to form triangles, like Tornados rear (hopefully this will lower the effectiveness of spinners)
                        Dimensions: 90 x 32 x 35
                        Speed: 20mph
Ground Clearance: 0 at front due to plow, 0 at sides and rear due to skirts, which are fixed to the points of the triangles and can work either way up
Armour: Body is 6mm titanium; scoop is 4mm titanium; skirts are 3mm titanium
                        Movement: Camshafts like Drillzilla
                        Power: 36V battery and motors
Weapons: At the front is an electrically powered scoop which operates through 180 degrees, so it can work when the robot is inverted. Behind the scoop is a 20kg spinning drum with 8 titanium teeth on it, spinning at 2000rpm and hopefully able to flip robots as well as damage them. The drum comes into play if the scoop is lifted.
Srimech: Invertable; triangles at sides and rear prevent it resting there
Tactics: Shove opponents with the scoop; then lift the scoop and attack with the drum
Strengths: Fast; good traction; powerful drum
Weaknesses: Less manouverable than wheeled robots

                        TENDERIZERS REVENGE 2
                        Weight: 97kg
Shape: Low invertable box with low wedge at the front and inverted wedge at the back - painted blue with its name painted to look like blood on the skirts
                        Dimensions: 90 x 90 x 20
                        Speed: 15mph
Ground Clearance: 0 all around due to low wedge and skirts, 2mm behind side skirts, 20cm behind skirt on inverted wedge. Both wedges have skirts attached to them at their edge. The wedge and side skirts are attached to rotatable cylinders inside the robot (or wedge) so they can be moved up and down. When they are down, they are very low and its hard to get underneath, but the robots speed is reduced to 9mph. The side skirts can go up to a point where they work inverted. The skirts on the wedges move within 90 degrees - when their wedge is inverted, they are in a vertical position to repel flippers, and when their wedge is right way up, they are in a horizontal position, riding along the ground to help get under robots. When the robot is moving around normally, all skirts except the front wedge one are pulled down low but not to maximum lowness so it can move quickly - the skirts go to maximum lowness if a flipper comes anywhere near it.
Armour: Main body has 5mm polycarbonate on top of 5mm titanium, skirts are 4mm titanium, wedges are 5mm hardox
                        Wheels: 4, inside robot
                        Power: 36V battery and motors
Weapon: An electrically powered lifting arm, which runs along half of the top of the robot - its tip is pointed to help hold onto robots, and is at the point where the wedge meets the body, and it does not go down the wedge. It can rotate through 360 degrees so it can be used when the robot is inverted.
Srimech: Invertable - arm will act as srimech, but this will hardly happen as the robot works identically both ways up. Moveable skirts prevent it from resting on its sides.
Tactics: Run into opponents, try to get under them, then get them onto its top and onto the arm. The arm turns them over, or catches them so I can carry them around.
Strengths: Decent pushing power; moveable skirts; difficult to attack by flippers
Weaknesses: May struggle to use arm against some opponents

                        DEATH ADDER 3
                        Weight: 110kg
Shape: The outside is a big 4mm thick titanium ring, with skirts all the way round at the bottom, and also fitted at the top for when the robot is inverted. On the inside top and bottom rim of the ring are small wheels with no drives, to balance it off the ground. Inside the ring, attached to it by bars, is the flat circular body.
                        Dimensions: 100 x 100 x 25
                        Speed: 18mph
Ground Clearance: 0 due to front scoop and skirts, 5mm behind skirts
Armour: Ring is 4mm thick titanium; body has 4mm thick titanium
                        Movement: Camshafts like Drillzilla
                        Power: 36V battery and motors
Weapon: Main weapon is a pneumatically powered axe with a Beta-style hammer with sharpened ends. The axes attachment to the robot is not right on top, but a bit down into the body, allowing the robot to run inverted. At the front of the ring is a static curved scoop, which has a 0 ground clearance due to a titanium strip at the bottom - hopefully DA3 will ram opponents quickly and powerfully enough for the scoop to go underneath and the opponent to run up it and be overturned, or at least caught, a bit like BB middleweight Red Square. The scoop has a rectangle cut out of its top where the axe comes down when fired, and the ring has a rectangle cut out of its top half at the back where the axe rests, so the axes head and part of the stick bit can come out of it - the cutouts are lined with rubber so the axe doesnt damage itself on them.
Srimech: Axe works as srimech. If axe fails in resting position, the robot can run inverted, but cannot use any of its weaponry.
Tactics: Hammer opponents to death, or try to ram and overturn with the scoop.
Strengths: Fast; powerful axe; difficult to attack by flippers or spinners
Weaknesses: Will be helpless if turned over when axe is stuck in irregular position; could be attacked by axes

New Blood- I dunno the rules on this, so Ill design an entirely new robot for this.

On second thought, Ill team up with you for the TT, Matty. Is Battle Raptor 3 alright?

Also, having read the footy rules, Frank, will MORD2 and TR2 be allowed if MORD2s plow is static so it cant use the drum, and TR2s lifting arm is also static? The skirts will still move, but theyre not powerful enough to flip.
