    The Legends Tournament

    ACT 2
    SCENE 2 - THE MAZE

...erm...remove the skirts and pray all goes well. Hopefully, the increased ground clearance and the screw tracks will be enough to see The Big Push over the bumps

      The Legends Tournament

      Act 2, Scene 2

The Maze of doom is waiting for the 5 robots left, who will take the maze well and who will get caught and get locked in? The only way to see if by letting them run the maze

Robot 1 - Lets go ram round again

The 6 wheel drive robot from Martyn enters the maze upside down as the door shuts behind the robot.

Speed is no problem for Lets go ram round again, as it sets off on it€™s journey, the speed bumps cause no harm to the 6 wheels, as it comes near the first bend and starts to turn, and just manages to get though the bend, but it is caught on the second bend, not getting the correct angle, as Lets go ram round again has to reverse, ramming into the side wall and pull yourself around.

Lets go ram round again waits before clearing the sliding door, but the corners are there again, as it gets around the first corner with ease, but the 2nd corner of the complex proves too hard for Lets go ram round again, as it reverses backwards, but it€™s length that is causing the problem, and the lack of a limited slip gearbox, as the wheels are turning at the same speed, proving life to be very hard, as Lets go ram round again, manages to pull itself around the 2nd corner, but what time has been wasted?

Down the hall, Lets go ram round again goes, heading into the 2nd hardest corner on the course, a pure 180 turn, experts have predicted that even the best turning robot will find having to do a 3 point turn, as Lets go ram round again enters the complex bends and puts on all the power to the right, as it ploughs around the first part ok, but straight into the wall, as Martyn selects reverse to reverse Lets go ram round again, as it hits the arena wall behind it, it goes forward, inch by inch, but the judges are looking at the clock, as it slowly ticks upwards.

Lets go ram round again has managed to get around the bend, after about a minute going backwards and forward it has made it and comes out of the hall of hell and around the corner with ease, having the right angle, and thunders down thunder hill and comes around the bend and puts on full power. The ramp proves to be nothing, but Lets go ram round again rams into the run-off zone, having to spin around, and takes the hardest corner on the board at one of the worst angles, as it gets pinned in tight against the wall, Martyn reverses into the wall, and goes forward trying to overcome the corner, as Lets go ram round again manages to get around the first part of the corner and now for the 2nd part, which proves to be an easy task, as Lets go ram round again breaks though the barrier and back into the starting square.

      Robot 2, Shovearound 2

Tony€™s robot is locked into the maze, with no skirts nor spike rake, are we sure this is Shovearound 2 and not just a storm 2 clone?

Another speedy start from the robots here today, as Shovearound 2 makes light work at the road bumps, although the rear end goes a bit light, as Shovearound 2 takes the corner a bit to fast and slams straight into the wall. Tony reverses and takes no time to pass the door, and around the 2nd corners with no hardship.

Down the hall goes Shovearound 2, as it comes to the 3 point turn, as Tony drives into the wall, at a strange angle, as he locks up the left hand side and pulls the right hand side around and is away down the other side of the hall, this is looking like a quick run from Tony, as he takes the corners with ease, no problems with turning, with the handy chassis, as it thunders down the ramp before turning to hit the uphill ramp. Tony puts on the power and he gets half-way up the ramp, but the grip is lost from the wheels, as Shovearound 2 goes down the ramp. Tony puts on the power with a light touch and pulls himself up the hill with the torque.

Around the last complex like it isn€™t there, as Shovearound 2 breaks the barrier and rams into the wall, bending it, so that the door can€™t open.

As the door is opened, with a hammer, Shovearound is driven out

Robot 3 - The Big Push
Steve€™s bombshell on tracks enters the arena€¦

€¦now, wearing no skirts and the front wedge has been removed, could this do well?

      ACTIVE

Steve, you do know the person said active, as The Big Push starts to make its way out of the square, the tracks turning, as The Big Push gets up to speed, before hitting the speed bumps. The Big Push makes light work of the speed bumps, as it rises and falls with each bump, the tracks designed for this work. Eventually it reaches the first corner and takes it slow and manages to get around with as much trouble, as Steve can write fights.

The door opens, as The Big Push starts to make it€™s big advance, as it gets close, the door closes, as The Big Push rams into the door, bending the thin metal, as the door opens it jams against the floor, and doesn€™t open.

      Cease

Ladies and Gentlemen please wait a while when the door is mended, we will show you a film about how pies are made.

*Movie is shown, people are amazed at pies*

And the door has been mended, as The Big Push starts on the other side of the door with no time added. ACTIVE

The Big Push starts to make it€™s move, trying to get around the corner, as Steve locks up the right hand track and makes it around the corner like a tank. Along the hallway to the evil corner, as The Big Push fails to turn and stops, the tracks turn The Big Push around 90 degree, as Steve drives forward, stopping and the tracks turn The Big Push again the correct way, as The Big Push starts to walk down the hallway. The random tumbleweed of tumbleweed-town is blown across the maze as eventually it comes out of the hallway, turning around the couple of corners and takes a gently spin down the ramp, The Big Push is on a Sunday morning walk, as it comes down the ramp.

The audience have started to fall asleep, as The Big Push meets the ramp and it causes no trouble for the brick on wheels at all, as Steve turns the corner and crawls around the corners with no trouble at all, the breaks are turned onto each track to get it around with no trouble, as The Big Push hits the barrier and it breaks, allowing The Big Push out of it€™s walk.

Robot 4 - The Box Returns

Andy€™s robot has no front drum fitted for this match, as it looks the part with a search light on the front, will it be useful?

The Box Returns starts of slow, but it gets up to speed, as it cruises over the speed bumps like they were not there. The Box Returns takes the corners with ease, not breaking down or having to slow down, as The Box Returns comes around into the hallway to shame and stardom.

Andy drives into the turning zone and takes the corner well, but can€™t get around 100% and so reverses and takes the corner again, as The Box Returns starts to pick up speed, taking the corners well, with no hard work. The crowd are getting bored, as The Box Returns comes down the ramp, down thunder straight at a moderate pace, turns and goes up the ramp at a moderate pace, turning the corners at a moderate pace and comes back into the starting square at a moderate pace.

Primal Assault gets off to a good start, as it gets up to speed before reaching the speed bumps. Andy is worried that the speed bumps might upset the 2 wheel drive of Primal Assault, as it hits the bumps, and jumps over the first two before landing between bump 3 and 4. Primal Assault puts on full power, as the wheels are spinning, but it isn€™t moving away from the bumps, Andy€™s hand is up.

      Cease

The tanks come in to release Primal Assault from the speed bumps, as Andy takes the 30 second penalty, could this affect the run?

      ACTIVE

Primal Assault is off again, and around the first 2 corners with no help from a friend at all, as the door way makes no work at all for Andy who turns the corners at a pacing speed, and hits the wall, spinning around. Andy turns about and goes up the hall, going slowly, as he locks the right hand wheel and turns around the end of the pole in one go, and comes down the hallway, turning around the bends and a quick turn here and there, and Primal Assault is down thunder straight.

Andy takes time to turn around, reversing right up to the wall before unleashing the power within and manages to get ¾ up the ramp, until the wheels start spinning, the power is reduced, as the flipper fires, as Andy slows down the power to a torque based number and pulls himself up the ramp, stopping the clocks. Primal Assault on the last corners, are easy as punch, as the 2 wheel drive machine gets around them like nothing, and into the end square.

      DONG

All 5 robots have gone around, no-one else has seen the run nor has spoken to each other until now, as Bob comes walking in with the highest judge with the results.

Bob - Hello gentlemen€¦ and Tony
      Roboteers - Hello Bob
Bob - I have here your results and you will be surprised.
*Clears throat as the drumming machine kicks into life*
Bob - The person who came first in a good time of 2 minutes 12 seconds is€¦
      *Boom*
      €¦The Box Returns
Bob - In 2nd place, in 2 minutes 15 seconds is Shovearound 2 and in 3rd place, we have Viper, with Primal Assault, which would have been in the top 2 if it wasn€™t for the penalty with a time of 2 minutes 43 seconds.

*Tony, and the 2 Andrews sight as they sit down happy*

Bob - In this letter, from the chief time keeper I have the results for the last two, there is 2 seconds between the two robots left, and the result might shock you. The 4th place robot is€¦

      *Drum rolls*

      €¦ Pie of Doom

*Chief Judge talks into Bob€™s ear*
Bob - Sorry, I seemed to have the wrong result here, because Pie of Doom wasn€™t in the maze. Here are the proper results and the 4th place robot is€¦

      *Drum rolls again*

The Big Push, in a time of 6 minutes 14 seconds, which leaves let€™s go ram round again to collect 5th place with a time of 6 minutes 16 seconds.

Chief Judge - The major weakness of some of the robots were shown in this round, The Big Push€™s weakness is it€™s speed, and Lets go ram round again€™s weakness is it€™s crap turning using it€™s skid-steer system where the side wheels turn at the same rate, so that it couldn€™t get the rear around the corners, but it was close, very close, even with the 3 seconds added onto The Big Push€™s time for the time wasted around the door.

        The Legends Tournament

Time to pay AJ back for beating me by 3 seconds....:P
Well, im WAY faster, his weapon cant do anything to me, he has better manuverability which shouldnt matter since I have good control anyway.
theres not really much he can do to me, apart from pitting me since he has better torque, but I wont let thta happen as Ill be avoiding the pit the whole match. Get to the sides, though Im not afraid to get under the drum if I absoultly MUST, and drop him off near a house bot until hes dead. If all else fails, take him to any hazards or ram him full speed into the wall.

          ARENA
Primal Assault VS THE BIG PUSH

Hopefully, its time for The Big Push to actually give a good performance
Despite the obvious speed difference, Ive still got a chance. I have the superior traction and a higher level of aggression, so that could come in handy when it comes to attacks. Basically, just try to ram it all over the ring, hopefully dunk it down the nearest Pit and pray. Pray a lot.

            The Legends Tournament

            Act 2, Scene 3

4 robots remain to fight it out for the 2nd lot of the lovely 10 points available to push them up the leader board.

            Fight 1
Shovearound 2 vs. The Box Returns

The scene 1 winner against the scene 2 winner, which of the two rammers will come out on top?

            2
            1
            ACTIVE

Both aggressions cancel each other out, so both robots come away from the starting squares, as the wheels start to make light work of the arena surface, as Andy cuts the corner quickly, as Shovearound 2 takes the easier route and tries to get around the sides of the maze champion. The extra speed isn€™t helping Tony, as Andy is turning to keep Shovearound 2 at it€™s front end. The drum is spun up, it is weak, but it can lift up robots up a bit allowing for the moderate/high traction to kick in and push the other robot around.

Shovearound and The Box Returns meets head on, and the spikes get underneath The Box Returns, which don€™t affect the wide wheel base, as Tony tries to lift up, but the power behind the spikes is too low to lift 100 kg of pure Box, as the front wheels are off the ground. The power comes into affect, as the wheels start to spin on both robots, even with only 4 wheels on the ground, The Box Returns has higher torque and is managing to push Shovearound 2 backwards, slowly, but it is going backwards. Tony reverses away, and gets away for a run in.

The Box Returns dodges the attack from Shovearound 2 and while Shovearound 2 is between the wall and The Box Returns, Andy turns around and rams into the side, the drum lifting up the skirt, only by a tiny part, but the power slams Shovearound 2 into the side wall, as Tony turns and manages to get fully underneath the from drum of The Box Returns, as he drives towards the house robot, No Hope, as Shovearound 2 shoves The Box Returns onto the front wedge, the hydraulic wheel cutter comes into play, cutting the base armour of The Box Returns with ease before Andy spins on the spot on the wedge itself, as Shovearound 2 is hanging around the bottom of the wedge, as Andy is waiting for the attack. The hydraulic cutter meanwhile has managed to make another cut in the base of The Box Returns. The crowd are waiting, as Shovearound 2 isn€™t risking going up the mobile wedge in case it grounds out. The Box Returns comes bottling down the wedge, hitting the ground and smashes into the front of Shovearound 2, as The Box Returns continues, pushing Shovearound 2 backwards, towards the closed pit.

Time is running out, as the clock slowly ticks down the seconds of freedom, as The Box Returns spins around to defend himself from another attack from Shovearound 2, who€™s extra speed is now helping. 10 seconds are left on the clock, as No Hope starts to move forward an inch, as The Box Returns makes a last second attack onto the side of Shovearound 2.

            Cease

Both robots were moving at the end of the fight, as we go to the good old judges€™ decision way to working out the fight.
            Shovearound 2: The Box Returns
            Aggression - 7½:7½
            Damage - 14:1
            Strategy - 6:9

            Total: 27 ½: 17 ½

Shovearound 2 moves into the act 2 final.

            Fight 2
Primal Assault vs. The Big Push

Who will join Shovearound 2 in the final, the defensive flipper, or the ultra slow aggressive pushy thing?

            1
            ACTIVE

Primal Assault starts to move forward, but attacking isn€™t really high on Andy€™s list of priorities, as The Big Push starts to move forward, the tracks helping it along the arena surface, as the door slides open. Primal Assault turns around to make sure The Big Push doesn€™t attack, as Steve is holding back the power, hang on, wait that it full power.

A random snail overtakes The Big Push, as Primal Assault finally makes an attack, getting straight underneath The Big Push€™s front and flips it onto it€™s back. Steve self-rights with ease and comes back onto the attack. Primal Assault drops and runs away from the action, as the defensive side of it makes a clear run. The Big Push turns and gives chase to Primal Assault, which has opened the pit by pressing the button, as Andy turns to face The Big Push.

No Hope starts to move forward and out of the CPZ, as The Big Push finally gets nearer Primal Assault, which Andy puts on the power and gets underneath the front end and flips The Big Push onto it€™s back, another self-right from The Big Push as it comes down, onto Primal Assault and manages to get it€™s front end underneath Primal Assault, as the wheels are spinning trying to get traction, but the wheels are only pushing against the air, as The Big Push starts to use it€™s extra torque for good use and pushes Primal Assault backwards. Will it get near the pit in time?

The clock is ticking away, as The Big Push isn€™t going to get near the pit, and turns, forcing Primal Assault onto the arena spike. The spike fires, as Primal Assault lands onto it€™s back.

            Cease

The crowd are wondering if that is the end of the fighting, because they were waiting for some action.

For the 2nd time, the judges are called in:
            Primal Assault: The Big Push
            Aggression - 4:11
            Damage - 7:8
            Strategy - 10:5

            Total: 22:23

In a close battle, The Big Push, pushes it€™s way into the final, as Primal Assault couldn€™t get into the attacking mode.

Shovearound 2 VS THE BIG PUSH

Woot! Now lets see how far I can really push the Leprechaun of Fortune in my favour.
Similar tactics to the last match-up, I feel. My flippers more powerful than his forks and with the 360 wedge and traction advantage, Tony will find it hard to push me around.
Basically, just keep on trundling, maybe flick it over a few times and use the hazards to try n damage its weaker armour before attempting a trip to the Pit.

Well well well, isnt this a surprise.
Basically, im going to rush him right from the start and try to get under his sides or back with the forks. If that works, good. if it dosent try to get under his flipper with the forks. If THAT dosent work, use the rear hinged wedge to get under the sides. If THAT dosent work, try getting to front plow again with the rear wedge.
Once I find SOME way to get under him, do the same that I did aginst the box returns. Just feed him to the house bot. Dont bother with the pit as his better torque will likley put me in.

The 3rd of 4 acts, this one is based on an early tournament of mine own, but lets not go there. It is a tag team terror, with a difference. Normally you get tag teams between yourselves, but this time you have to partner someone. The stat system is strange for this, as it€™s like FRW, but not like FRW if you see what I mean, as it limits the choice a lot.

This will run like the series 4 tag team, with 4 fights.
