The Norman Sheppard Tribute Tournament
Riptile
Weight-
Shape- See picture on Haka€™s Corner site
Colour- As above
Dimensions- L- 95cm H- 30cm W- 60cm
Ground Clearance- 0 at front, 2mm at sides and rear. This is exactly the same if inverted as well
Turning Circle- 0.
Armour- 6mm Grade 5 titanium, weighing a total of 24.14kg to 2 decimal places
Locomotion- 4-x custom-built 30.4cm diameter rubber tyres, with lightweight drilled aluminium hubs. The 4 tyres, including wheels weigh about 3.5kg each, so 14kg in total
Power- 2 x Eteks, weigh a total of 18.9kg, and produce around 30BHp. They run at 48V, having been powered by 3x 24V TMC batteries, weighing a total of 7.5kg
Removable Link Position- In the centre of the jaw like structure, mounted between the weapons in it€™s own hole.
Weapons- The weapons have been designed to do 2 purposes. To provide a device capable locking a robot in position in order to unleash the massively powerful drive, whilst also capable of doing an immense deal of damage. And so, we have gone back to a weapon first seen in my former robot, The Scissor. However, it€™s now been updated into the modern day. It consists of 2 x 250mm with a thickness of about 4cm Pussycat style blades with a thickness of about 4cm. We can change between titanium blades, carbon blades, or 1 of each. They are mounted about 20cm apart in the centre of the jaw shape of the robot and exit holes in the wedge about 3cm from the base of the wedge. This means that we can shred things without them being too far up the wedge. The blades weigh around 9.14kg each, and spin in opposite directions, meaning we not only can shred with great efficiency, but clamp them between them as well in order to release our drive potential. The 2 blades are each powered by their own NPC-1200 motor, delivering 1.25 BHp to each weapon. These motors weigh about 8.72kg, and have their own 36V APC ventilator battery powering it. The blades can therefore reach a speed of around 3500rpm and have a spin up time of about 3.5 seconds, but are deadly in about 1.5 seconds. Each blade can produce about 21Kj of energy, so around 42Kj in total, which is capable of putting dents in Hardox, holes in titanium, and ripping most other things to shreds. The blades will be stopped if we get a hold on to a machine, to reduce the overheating of the motors, and to enable us to drive them towards pits and obstacles with ease. It€™ll hold with a grip of just under a tonne, meaning that although the grip won€™t do much damage on it€™s own, the blades will, and the force will easily be enough to hold the machines in place
Srimech- Invertible
Strengths- Powerful, well armoured, capable of doing a great deal of damage to certain armourments
Weaknesses- Uber weapons will make mincemeat of the armour. Can be flipped.
Weight Distribution
Chassis- I€™m guessing around 7kg
Armour- 24.14kg
Batteries- 7.5kg
Motors- 18.9kg
Weapons- 18.28kg
Weapon power- 12.22
Electronics + random nuts and bolts- Around 9kg
