Hm, seems like everyone heres going into electronics except me! Well anyway, here are the long awaited semis!
Welcome to VFT6, where were about to begin the first semi final! Here we have a collection of eight robots, all of them heat winners, so the fights to come should be even more action packed! How are these eight, and how did they get here?
Third seed Manic Monsoon is a box-wedge with a lifting arm, running at an impressive speed of 28mph, but while its Hardox armour has been reduced to 5mm thickness, it uses new motors to double its horsepower to 60! Its attempt to do better than a bronze medal didnt start well as its arm was immobilised by Powerpoint Reaches Pressurepoint, but it still went through when Slammer IV pitted Cholera and was then incapacitated by PRP! Manic Monsoon showed more of its old abilities in Round 2, where it mercilessly rammed and pitted Growling Storm 2.5! In the heat final against Whirligig 4.0, Manic Monsoon was sent into a spin a few times by the spinner, but managed to slow it enough to send it down the pit!
Fifth seed Tempest Evil-er-ution is an invertable ring spinner which bounces off things it hits to avoid being pushed, and it has interchangable teeth - theres 2cm long cutting teeth, basic 6cm teeth, 15.5cm teeth for a long reach, and low 25cm teeth to reach exposed wheels! In Round 1, Bender felt the full fatal force of Tempest, then MOE was mashed! Hacked Off Ha-ka went into Round 2 with Tempest, who encountered Not Another Pushover 2 - despite being valiantly rammed by its opponent, Tempest won the controversial 33-27 decision on Damage and Style! When it met Hacked Off Ha-ka again in the heat final, the fifth seed smashed its opponents armour but was also axed on top - the judges decision was too even, but the audience voted Tempest Evil-er-ution into the semis!
Seventeenth seed Psyclone is a low cylinderical shape with a slight dome and srimech bar on top, and it attacks with its 50kg spinning shell that has two Hardox teeth 15mm above the ground for causing damage! Psyclone first sucked Pulveriser into its vortex in Round 1, ripping off a wheel, then let Squish pit Voltronic! It had an amusing Round 2 taking apart Biohazard bit by bit, before meeting reigning champ The Disc 4 in the heat final! When the two mighty spinners clashed, it was Psyclone that did more damage and sent The Disc 4 all over the place, and the 36-24 judges decision sent the champ out, and Psyclone through!
Twenty-fifth seed Achilles is a box with a curved back, and its weapon remains a hydraulic lifting arm, able to get under anything with its low plate, and a hook mechanism to grip victims and render them helpless! Achilles did just that in Round 1 when it overturned the srimechless Hefty Kick In The Balls and used the arena disc and damage caused by Surgeon General to immobilise Chip! In Round 2, Juggerbee 3.0 did some ramming on Achilles but couldnt use its flipper, and was eventually caught and dropped in the pit! The heat final had Achilles taking on former champ SOR 4.0, taking some punishment from its disc, but eventually snagging it and using the pit to make sure the ninth seed would get no further!
Twenty-seventh seed Wedge Devolution is a Spawn Again-like wedge robot has a rear hinged flipper, with the blade bent at the end to help getting under lower opponents, and the blade can be replaced with a triangular plate for full body spinners! This VFT veteran began by bouncing Happy Birthday Party Pooper into the pit and flipping Blizzard the same way, allowing itself and Glasgow Kiss into Round 2! There, fellow flipper Wedga Revo took many flips from Wedge Devolution before finally being condemned to the pit as well! Glasgow Kiss met the 27th seed again in the heat final, and after some flipping and arena disc-ing, Wedge Devolution rammed Glasgow Kiss into the pit and went in itself - but having gone down first, Glasgow Kiss was the one to go out!
Orka Mk3 is a Panzer Mk3-style robot with six tyres, dorsal fin srimech, 6mm titanium armour and an electric scoop that can lift a bus! Its first VFT attempt began with it knocking and taking some knocks from its opponents, before teaming up with Windiest Killer Just Got Windier and Cuffy to pit Pink Panther, then send Cuffy down the pit with help from WKJGWs drum! It took some scrapes from Disco 5 in Round 2, but also rammed it a lot, eventually into the pit! The heat final against Windiest Killer Just Got Windier was a challenge for Orka Mk3, where it took a bashing from its opponents drum, but then found itself under and overturning the former semifinalist, then sending it to the pit and itself into the next stage!
Seggy The Third is a semi invertable box (wheel guards on top are able to move when its flipped) - it has rear spikes, side roll over bars, and interchangable weaponry that includes an invertable lifting arm, a vertical drum, a horizontal spinning bar, two blades with adjustable heights, a spike, passive scoops and an anti spinner scoop that flexes backwards when hit! It began with an incredible Round 1 melee where Seggy used its drum against Wheely Pure Evil 2, Deep Impact 2 and Revenge of the Revenge of the Bludgeonator - the judges had to choose between all four and selected Seggy and ROTROTB to go through! Baldur was flipped around and pitted by Seggys invertable arm in Round 2, and in the heat final, it used a scoop with a flail on ROTROTB, shoving it around, surviving the hammer and eventually pitting it!
And Storm 2 is a much respected RW entrant, thanks to invertability,a low wedge,a lifting arm and even more speed and pushing power than Tornado! Storm 2 showed its strength in Round 1 when it quickly pitted In-terror-fied, while The Crashing Bore guillotined Constrictor! Dantomkia was quickly rammed and shown the way to the pit in Round 2, allowing Storm 2 to meet The Crashing Bore again in the heat final. Using its speed and power to get around its opponent and surviving guillotine blows, Storm 2 eventually rammed The Bore down the pit and won the final place in the first semifinal!
To get the semifinal underway, a grudge match between Manic Monsoon and Achilles! The Monsoon beat Achilles in their heat final in VFT5, but will the outcome be different here?
3, 2, 1 - ACTIVATE!
The semifinal began with both Manic Monsoon and Achilles rushing into the arena centre as quickly as possible and crashing into each other with a bang! Finding itself exposed to Achilles, MM ran to a safe distance, with Achilles pursuing! The third seed then spun around and as Achilles charged, ran into its front! With its superior 60HP power and low wedge blade, MM was soon ramming Achilles backwards and after a few seconds, underneath its front and lifting! As they hit the wall, Achilles was lifted against it, and lifting its own arm didnt help! When MM shifted, Achilles fell over onto its side, kept up by its raised arm! MM came in from behind as Achilles turned itself over, and trapped it underneath its own raised arm! Manic Monsoon accelerated its victim towards the arena disc, and Achilles bounced off with its armour gashed and its paint job ruined! Before Achilles had the chance to attack, MM had run into its front again and was shoving hard to get Achilles against the west wall, and then its arm underneath!
This time, Achilles wasnt flipped by Manic Monsoons arm - instead it was propped on top of it. MM shifted, but Achilles remained stranded on the arm! MM solved the problem the only way it knew how - ramming Achilles hard into another wall! Achilles immediately flew off the arm and onto its wheels, but MM performed another rear attack, getting under Achilless unskirted back and trapping it under the arm! They were once again pointing towards the disc, and Achilles was slammed into the obstacle a moment later, causing more damage to its armour! Finding itself under attack from Manic Monsoon again, the 25th seed desperately tried to back off, but found MM quickly catching up, so swerved away! When MM missed it, Achilles went for its own rear assault, but MMs good manouverability allowed it to turn and pull up alongside Achilles! Another robot dance began - one which Manic Monsoon quickly won, its low blade slicing under Achilless skirts so it could get underneath the side and lift its victim again! Since a straight run would take it to the pit release, Manic Monsoon went that way - but a little too fast! When it hit the release, Achilles fell off the arm, landed on its side and rolled onto its back! The arm began working to selfright Achilles, but not fast enough - Manic Monsoon charged it more carefully to the open pit, ensuring Achilles would get no revenge, or place in the next round, today!

MANIC MONSOON GOES THROUGH TO THE NEXT ROUND!
Next into the arena is bouncing spinner Tempest Evil-er-ution and veteran flipper Wedge Devolution - who is more highly evolved?
3, 2, 1 - ACTIVATE!
Tempest Evil-er-ution saw Wedge Devolution coming straight towards it, and ran for its life to allow itself spinup time! Wedge Devolution was faster, but not by much, so when it hit Tempest, the ring was spinning! Tempest hit the flipper before Wedge fired it and bounced off - as it came back towards its opponent, Wedge Devolution ran at it with its rear end, hoping to ram it into the walls! However, Tempest dodged, and found itself in the perfect position to bash Wedge in the side! The angry Wedge Devolution chased the bouncing Tempest, and this time successfully struck it with its rear, but Tempest failed to hit any walls! It dodged Wedges next reverse attack, but before it could strike the side, Wedge turned the tables and used its flipper, its blade coming under Tempests teeth and flipping, the Hardox withstanding the force! As Wedge Devolution spun away with its flipper open, Tempest soared upwards, doing cartwheels until it hit the ground and bounced into a corner, ricocheting off that wall and into the advancing Wedge Devolution, into another wall! After that impact, it had slowed down enough for Wedge Devolution to capture it on the wedge, and carry it towards the pit release! Once they were moving towards the pit, Wedge Devolution risked a flip to send Tempest in with some style! Tempest Evil-er-ution flew again...and bounced on the floor, on its side! Wedge Devolution frantically attacked, knocked Tempest back down and had it back on the wedge, this time sending it down the pit in the old fashioned, but reliable, way of ramming!

WEDGE DEVOLUTION GOES THROUGH TO THE NEXT ROUND!
Psyclone may have beaten the champion in its heat, but will it win against Seggy The Third (with its wedge with flail)?
3, 2, 1 - ACTIVATE!
Psyclone moved away from Seggy The Third in order to spin up its shell, but it wasnt long before Seggy caught up and wedge met spinner! The Hardox teeth met the wedge and sent Seggy spinning around into the wall! Not going far thanks to its rubber wheels, Psyclone came in quickly as Seggy was reversing and whacked its side, leaving a scratch but no substantial damage in the armour! Seggy ran a short distance away, but not before Psyclone glanced its rear! Skidding around, Seggy brought its scoop to meet Psyclone again, and again spun away, this time to a safe distance where it could avoid another hit - then turn in a circle to run into Psyclone again, almost nudging it into a wall! Psyclone quickly moved away and almost hit Seggy again, but the unseeded machine got away, then came in for another scoop attack! Again, Seggy just went spinning off, recovering as quickly as possible and running back into Psyclone as the 17th seed advanced on it! After another deflection, Seggy reversed hard into the spinner to try and slow it, but at low power, it was spinning up too fast! Knocked into the wall, Seggy found its dented scoop facing Psyclone, and ran back into it, again failing to slow it enough! However, Seggy was sent into a position where it could perform another quick ram that did slow Psyclone down a little, and after that, a reverse into Psyclone slowed the shell enough for it to be pinned against the west wall!
With its skid steering, Seggy The Third spun its scoop into Psyclone before it could escape, and then rammed it into a corner, tilting it but not overturning it! They remained there a few moments, the flail unable to do anything as Psyclones impacts had immobilised it! Eventually, Seggy became bored and turned Psyclone around for a charge into the arena disc, which left a scratch but little else in Psyclones dome! Psyclone skimmed, but couldnt escape Seggy, who rammed it hard into the west wall! Psyclone ended up tilted on Seggys side, and Seggy shifted to try and flip it, but instead Psyclone fell off! When Seggy rammed it again, the shell had got spinning again and deflected it! As Seggy tried to attack again, it exposed itself to a side attack, which Psyclone delivered, battering the reinforced chassis but not damaging it badly! The 17th seed was then able to smash Seggy in the rear, and glance the side before Seggy finally ran to a safe distance, then came running back to Psyclone at full speed! The sound of the impact reverberated around the box, and Seggy went into another vortex, just recovering quickly enough to escape Psyclone taking advantage! Backing off again into the pit corner, Seggy waited for Psyclone to come in, then ran past it and charged, but failed to get Psyclone to hit the wall and was deflected itself! Before Psyclone could move a safe distance from the corner, Seggy reversed into the pit release and chased Psyclone down, smashing its scoop into the Hardox teeth and trying to nudge Psyclone to its doom!
Seggy The Third was spun into the west wall again, but reversed and hit Psyclone again, still not budging the spinner into the pit! Psyclone came towards Seggy as it spun off, away from the pit, and managed to glance it again, which slowed Seggy down enough for Psyclone to give it a good smash in the side! As Psyclone came in again, Seggy moved quickly and it hit the scoop and side! This moved Seggy in a position where it could ram again quickly, but that didnt slow Psyclone enough! Psyclone chased Seggy as it went and missed the rear by a centimetre! Outpacing the 17th seed again, the unseeded robot charged again to try and send Psyclone into the east wall, but Psyclones wheels again kept it going far! Psyclone barely had time to get away from the wall before Seggy charged again - this time, Psyclone dodged and Seggy comically ran past it, almost hitting the wall itself! Psyclone quickly bashed Seggy in the side again, trapping Seggy against the wall so it bounced back into the spinner for some more punishment! Unfortunately, when this happened a few times, Psyclones shell was slowed, and Seggy reversed into it, using the rear to slow the shell some more! It tried pushing, but Psyclones high ground clearance lowered the effectiveness of the rear skirt, so it was forced to turn! This gave Psyclone the oppotunity to run like the wind and spin again, making it able to deflect Seggy in the next impact! It again followed its very scratched opponent, managing to glance it across the side! Seggy was just about to meet Psyclone again in a fast charge as the buzzer went, and it hit the spinner anyway, doing a bit more damage to the already mashed scoop!
CEASE!
Aggression: Psyclone - 5, Seggy - 5 (both robots had moments of running away and aggression, so equal points)
Damage: Psyclone - 10, Seggy - 0 (Psyclone damaged Seggy a lot - Seggys only damaging was with the arena disc, which did very little)
Strategy: Psyclone - 5, Seggy - 5 (Seggy had the strategy of bullying Psyclone constantly which had some success, while Psyclone had the strategy to low power spin to avoid shock)
Control: Psyclone - 6, Seggy - 4 (Psyclone was more controlled)
Style: Psyclone - 7, Seggy - 3 (Seggy being spun off by Psyclone was more stylish than Seggys ramming)
Dominance: Psyclone - 7, Seggy - 3 (both robots were aggressive and Seggy got in a pin and many rams, but it came off worse in most hits so Psyclone gets more points)
Final Score: Psyclone - 40, Seggy The Third - 20
PSYCLONE GOES THROUGH TO THE NEXT ROUND!
And now two unseeded robots - will Orka Mk3 or Storm 2 get a higher seeding next time?
3, 2, 1 - ACTIVATE!
As the two robots rolled into the centre of the arena, Orka Mk3 tried to turn and get under Storm 2s sides, but the world champion would have none of that, using its better agility to go straight under the tyres of Orka Mk3! From there, Storm 2 was eager to get the battle done with quickly - it charged Orka Mk3 into the pit release and ended up with the VFT newcomer balancing on top of it! But with its large tyres, Orka Mk3 drove off Storm 2s flat body, and Storm 2 was forced to run before the plow went under its side! Ready to go for Orka Mk3s side again, Storm 2 charged, but Orka Mk3 turned so their front ends collided! The fighters strained against each other, Storm 2 gradually pushing Orka Mk3 in the direction of the pit - but that did little good when the pit closed! Storm 2 reversed backwards, hitting the pit release with a thud, and Orka Mk3 pursued it to get underneath! But Orka had no luck as Storm 2 came towards it, whipped round to the side and lifted it up, so Orka Mk3 could easily be manouvered along and dumped in the gaping hole!

Semi Final 1, Round 5:
Manic Monsoon (3) vs Storm 2
Psyclone (17) vs Wedge Devolution (27)
SEMI-FINAL 1
ROUND 2
1) Manic Monsoon (3) VS Storm 2
Private Stickler to prove more powerful and dunk the RW World Champ into that lil ol hole
2) Psyclone (17) VS WEDGE DEVOLUTION (27)
Charge straight in and flip. Open the Pit while its self-righting. Flip again and slam it into the Void inverted. Thatll work. Aye right.
What an amazing fight! I didn€™t expect to win at all, never mind by 20 points. Unlucky Dave, I thought you had that one for a moment.
Psyclone (17) vs Wedge Devolution (27)
Similar tactics again here, keep the power low and keep attacking again and again. The more hits I get on the wedge the more likely the flipper will jam or something. Again towards the end of the fight I€™ll crank the power up and cause as much damage as possible. The height of the teeth should mean the wedge won€™t be able to get under, just a few millimeters and then the teeth will smash it away, Tempest style.
Basically, Steve cannot ram or flip and even if he does it only takes a very short time to self-right. Good luck me old rival, should be a fight to remember.
Storm 2s Tactics:
Against Manic Monsoon, this will be tougher than all the battles Storm 2 has faced up to this point, I can get underneath it from the front with my lifter, If I can get a good brea. Im gonna need to get a very quick side attack on Manic Monsoon, and get towards the pit and staight down, also try and get at it from the back if I can get the chance and push it down the hole. This should be an interesting battle, I think Ive got a shot at it though.
Manic Monsoon to give Storm 2 its own treatment, and if Wedge Devo could get hold of Tempest, it shouldnt have a problem with Psyclone. Wedge Devo through.
These would have been up yesterday, but my connection didnt work for some reason. Its on again now, so here they are!
Two of the four places in the grand final are about to be filled! Will Manic Monsoon or Storm 2 fill the first one?
3, 2, 1 - ACTIVATE!
Manic Monsoon rushed into the centre and turned to get under Storm 2s side, but Storm 2 was coming in straight to hit MMs front, so hit MMs side instead! Shoving desperately against MMs skirts, it struggled to get under but did manage to shove Manic Monsoon round in a circle, slowly spiralling towards the walls! But before they could reach the walls, the third seed slipped out of Storm 2s grasp and acclerated away! The very speedy Storm 2 soon caught up, and as MM turned, the corners of their wedges hit one another and they bounced off! The next collision was head on, and in a few seconds, it was Manic Monsoon who won out with its power and low wedge, scraping Storm 2 into the west wall, getting its wedge under and lifting the RW world champ into the air! Storm 2 found itself with its back against the wall - as MM backed off to admire its handiwork, Storm 2 activated its arm and began falling back down, only to end up on top of Manic Monsoon, who had acclerated towards it quickly! Storm 2 quickly ran off, as MM began trying to use its arm to overturn it, and failed!
Storm 2s next move was to aim for Manic Monsoons unskirted rear, but the third seed turned so the unseeded robot went into its rear corner! There was another struggle as both robots turned around, but then Storm 2 brought its arm into play, and lifted MM long enough for it to get itself in the right position, and underneath the fellow rammer! Without further delay, Storm 2 turned around and carried its victim towards the pit release, tilting it a little as they hit the corner! There was no escape for the former bronze medallist, as it received poetic justice - having dumped so many robots in the pit in its career, it was now sent that way itself by Storm 2!

STORM 2 GOES THROUGH TO THE FINALS!
Another tough battle coming up - Psyclone and Wedge Devolution!
3, 2, 1 - ACTIVATE!
Psyclone began spinning quickly and wisely moved away from the initial attack of Wedge Devolution - it ended up with Wedge next to it, and before the 27th seed could do anything, Psyclone whacked it along the side! With its rear facing Psyclone, Wedge Devo tried to ram, but it was spun off course again, and on low power Psyclone began spinning again too fast! Wedge Devolution gave Psyclone another backend ram, with the same result! Now deciding to use its flipper, Wedge turned around and ran at Psyclone with its wedge, and when they came together, the teeth met the wedge before the wedge could flip, resulting in Wedge Devolution spinning off with its flipper open, and Psyclone being tilted a little but stabilising perfectly! Its flipper still functioning, Wedge ran straight back at Psyclone, this time flipping sooner, while its bent blade was under the teeth! It was spun off again but performed a more stylish flip, with Psyclone almost flipping straight onto its back! But its teeth hit the floor and it bounced, rolled and came down inverted! Wedge Devolution rushed to take advantage, but the srimech of the 17th seed worked perfectly, and it ran away as Wedge approached! But Wedge Devolution was close enough to get in another flip just as the spinner started again, and getting its bent blade under the teeth again, it flipped Psyclone like a pancake!
Wedge Devolution reversed into the pit release, but Psyclone selfrighted too quickly and made itself scarce, spinning again! Wedge Devo came to bring it to the pit, but mistimed its flip and got another scratch in the Hardox for its troubles! Having spun Wedge into the wall, Psyclone could strike it in the rear and knock it towards the arena disc! Unfortunately, it turned Wedges front towards it, and found itself being flipped from under the teeth again! Wedge Devolution charged to pit Psyclone before time ran out, but when Psyclone selfrighted, it did so off the wedge! Wedge Devolution was able to move quickly to catch it, but before it could get it in the pit, the hole closed! Not to worry - Wedge Devolution escorted Psyclone to the pit release, flipping it against it! Psyclones srimech didnt take it out of trouble this time, as Wedge Devolution took no chances and rather than flip it into the black hole, just shoved it down!
CEASE!
WEDGE DEVOLUTION GOES THROUGH TO THE FINALS!
Next time on VFT6, its the second semifinal!
WX 6.0 must beat The Ultimate Wedge to have any chance of a gold medal!
NSBFR-X will try to avoid being sent into the stratosphere by Stratosfear!
Dervish V/ and Hypertension Mk2 are both hungry for robot blood!
And Firestorm V will try to burn out Mother Of All Bricks 2!
I thought Wedge Devolution would be able to flip Psyclone as its blade is flat at the front and it could get that under the teeth before they hit the wedge. If you feel Im wrong, AJ, please explain why. (Im not saying that in an aggressive way - I could well be wrong somehow.)
Nope, you are right, the blade would have gone under the teeth. But what I€™m still not sure about is when it flipped, would the teeth have caught the flipper and caused it some damage? Oh well, time to go and work on Psyclonic€¦ I€™ve copied the tactics from earlier below:
WX 6.0 (2) vs. The Ultimate Wedge
I don€™t know what the difference in power is between the LEM130€™s and LEM200€™s but I presume it€™s quite a bit. The only thing I can think of doing is to put the scoop on and the skirts on the other sides. The skirts should hopefully prevent The Ultimate Wedge getting under so it cannot ram or flip. I€™ll use the scoop hoping it will give me the heavier front end and therefore a better chance of getting under if it€™s a head to head ram.
AWOOHOO! For once, Im actually starting to get confident about title success :P. Supoib writing from Mr S, and a great clash there with Mr J
SEMI-FINAL 2
ROUND 1
1) The Ultimate Wedge VS W.X. 6.0 (2)
Pretty close throughout, but Ive got a sneaky feeling a repeat of their PTT4 clash could occur...(I know it was TIRTASM then, but what the hey? Theyre both virtually the same )
2) N.S.B.F.R. X (10) VS StratosFear
Close again...either Stratos to win a JD or Franky to get a successful pitting
3) Dervish // (22) VS Hypertension Mk 2 (24)
Hypertension to use its superior traction and dunk Dervish down the hole
4) Firestorm 5 VS Mother of All Bricks 2
MOAB. Moving on...
As I need an invertable weapon, NSBFR X will fit the spinning bar and go for Stratos-Fears sides. Due to his WBC-esque shape and (nmore importantly) length, Ive got by far the better manouverability here, as if I can get in a good shunt from the side hell be pretty much powerless counter attacking wise, kinda like Tornado vs WBC in series 4. Weve both got the same kinda speeds and acceleration, so Ill be relying on my agility to keep out of the flippers reach and keep pushing. If he gets away from the push, Ill spin up the bar before going in for another slam. Hopefully I can get him down the pit, and at least I cant go OOTA.
As for Firestorm vs MOAB 2, this is why I really hate being drawn up against Aaron. Thanks to lack of detail to do with shape, amount of skirts and GC I have to make guesses which he later comes in and says are wrong. So anyway, here are my doubtless wrong guesses:
Shape: Box-esque.
GC: Reasonable
Skirts: No front skirt. It probably wouldnt move if he had one. Anyway, IIRC Aaron removed these in PTT4 because they made MOAB overweight.
Tactics are to try and get under the front. That drill isnt going to do anything more than total the paint job seeing it was only added for the static weapon rule, so stack it ASAP, or try and pit it.
