    Re: The EXP League

    Let's see...

    BlackRose vs. The Tunguska Project

Good thing BlackRose is fire-retardant. Anyway since these are wedges, I will go with my own wedge set-up and leave all other wedges on. Forgot if there's a pit open, but if there is, deposit them. Otherwise just slam them around until they break, but go one part at a time. I should be able to easily get under them and they don't look like they could get under me easily.

Super Gore Septua vs. Wedga: EXP

Urrrrgh...I really oughta do something about SG's state of invertibility. >_< Anyway start with the pincers wide open and make him go head-to-head with me, hopefully my scoop can get under his flipper, then try and grab him and pit him/slam him around to break his internals. For the love of God, don't let him get a flip, eeeeh...

best of luck gents, looks to be killer Steve-O

      Re: The EXP League

The Tunguska Project vs. BlackRose: Park near the flame pit before the fight starts, immediately drive over and catch fire once it does begin (which will result in separation) and then get one half to go for the pit release button while the other tries to get in underneath BlackRose, and have the first part join in in the fiery attack, and ideally wrestle it into the house robots or down the pit...somehow. :P Ideally I can get one part in underneath the corners and lift the wheels off the ground, so it can push (possibly with assistance) BlackRose easily without resistance. The fire might not do much except create soot but it'll be fun, hehe...

Head Over Heels vs. Meatloaf 2: Head Over Heels has about the same manoeuvrability as (the very awesome looking I must say) Meatloaf 2 from the stats - in fact it has slightly less due to four wheels to its opponent's two, but Meatloaf 2 having a far wider wheel track and a large spinning weapon with gyro forces making turns difficult will at least even out, if not give me an advantage in, ability to manoeuvre.
I don't really think facing the weapon for any length of time at full speed will be sensible so I shall only try to box rush the drum once, and only if it's facing me - if the box rushing works I shall use the rear wedge to stall the weapon and use my superior traction to shove it into the house robots and/or pit release button and/or pit, but if it doesn't I shall concentrate on trying to get underneath the rear wedge and pushing it from there, or fron the rear corners. Either way the game plan is pretty much as Head Over Heels' design suggests; get under it somehow, shove around, into house robots, into pit release button, into pit. And if the box rushing turns out to not work I shall conserve my armour by trying not to face it

Best of luck Kody and Marti, hopefully this should be fun

        Re: The EXP League

        Mr T vs The Servant

What I see here is 2 similar bots in many many ways... I intended Mr T to be a robot with a solid but not overpowered weapon and a GOOD drive behind it, and The Servant pretty much seems to have that same thing going for him.

With Mr T, I went for a robot with a kick-ass agility, and a weapon that reaches HIGH, BioHazard high, only scaled down to LW proportions of course. This, given our relatively low weapon powers, will make Mr T's weapon slightly more effective I think, and Mr T's agility will I think give Mr T good oppurtunities to put his weapon to good use. The Servant has a higher top speed, but he can only truely use that advantage when there's some distance between us. When we are close at each other, Mr T's agility will shine, and I will use that to use the weapon, effectively and often, to control the match, maybe end it with a pitting, who know.

          Re: The EXP League

          Meatloaf vs Head over Heels

well, we are both as agile, he is only slightly faster, so I think in terms of who touches who, this will be a close and interesting match

primarly, I see my weapon is stronger than his armour, that I love, I also see his armour is sloped, that may deflect hits of horizontal spinners, but my drum will love having goes at it

my traction is low? I dont care! I will make sure that whenever he tries to ram me, he will ram my drum, which will make him go flying away, good luck ramming while catching airtime Joey, this is not ZED Leppelin we are talking about

          those were my tactics!

            LW- The Servant

My battle is to try and avoid that lifter of his, get round his sides and try my best to get him over and ram him all over
            the shop

            HW- Metallic Doom

My claws could cause some major damage here try and crumple the lifter then go for the front of it and eat

Ill probably fail badly but its for fun right?

              Re: The EXP League

Thanking you very much, lads. Now let's get this mad experiment off the ground.

              ROUND 1
              LIGHTWEIGHT DIVISION

              HIT 'EM HARDER Vs PENDULUM
The first match of the season is an even one indeed. Hit 'Em Harder is the more powerful of the two, but Pendulum is the quicker and more manoeuverable. To top it all, their Armour is strong enough to withstand each other's Weaponry with ease. This isn't a bother for Hit 'Em Harder, who decides to take a more passive approach for this fight and releases the Pit right from the off. Lewis tries to get hold of Pendulum, but Andy's entry is proving a very slippery customer indeed. Every time Hit 'Em Harder gets close, Pendulum spins out of the way and tries to land a blow of its own. Much of the battle goes this way, with Hit 'Em Harder playing matador to Pendulum's bull. A couple of times Lewis is successful, clipping Pendulum and smacking it into the arena wall, and once he almost getting it into Shunt's CPZ! Pendulum clambers out before any harm can come to it, however, and the great chase resumes until time finally runs out.
              HIT 'EM HARDER: 1 pt
              PENDULUM: 1 pt

              BLACKROSE Vs THE TUNGUSKA PROJECT
Right away Joey and his cloned co-pilot find themselvse in trouble as BlackRose clatters into the Tunguska Project, just as it heads onto the Flame Pit and separates. Kody focuses on Project One, scooping it up onto the wedge and battering it into the arena wall repeatedly. Project Two, cardboard coat smoldering quite nicely, tries to help free its brother, but only get a blow itself for its trouble. Instead Project Two nips to the other side of the arena and releases the Pit. In that time, Project One is given a lovely tour of the arena, courtesy of BlackRose. By the time Project Two returns to help, One is looking rather the worse for wear - though a lot of that may be down to the charred cardboard. Project Two tries again to defend its brother, but BlackRose is just slightly too strong for one half to overpower. Finally getting tired of Two's pestering, Kody decides to end things and speedily dumps Project One into the Pit. One half out means both halves out, so Project Two gives BlackFire one last shove and jumps down the Pit itself. Clusterbots must stick together, after all.
              BLACKROSE: 3 pts
              THE TUNGUSKA PROJECT: 0 pts

              MR. T Vs THE SERVANT
The Servant gets the quicker start, but Mr T's advantage in Manoeuverability shines through here. Martijn is able to dodge Lian's attacks with relative ease, though has a tricky time landing attacks of his own. The Servant's Speed advantage means that Mr T can only land glancing blows before it jerks away. Eventually Mr T manages a side-attack, flipping the Servant up, but not flipping it completely. The Servant strikes as soon as it lands, throwing Mr T over and ramming it towards the nearest wall. Mr T's superior Manoueverability comes into play again, however. Marti spins out of the Servant's way and dances around Lian's machine while he self-rights. This continues for a few moments more until Mr T lands another side-attack. The Servant is inverted, but immediately self-rights before Marti can take advantage. Mr T tries to manouever for another flip, allowing the Servant to land a glancing flip of its own in retaliation. The rest of the fight continues in a similar manner. Mr T manages to flip the Servant a couple times more, but each time Lian self-rights instantly and the dance-off continues. Eventually the Servant manages to catch Mr T's side and flip it over a second time, but once again Martijn spins out of its reach. With the match practically over anyway, Mr T self-rights and ends the battle right-side up.
              MR. T: 1 pt
              THE SERVANT: 1 pt

              -------------------------------------------------

              ROUND 1
              HEAVYWEIGHT DIVISION
              EQUINOX Vs METALLIC DOOM
Both bots meet in the arena centre. Metallic Doom's claws are among the deadliest weapons in the whole contest, but they're having a hard time grabbing hold of Equinox. The shuffler has only half the Manoueverability of its foe, and Lewis is exploiting this advantage for all its worth. It isn't long before Equinox makes it under Metallic Doom's side and clamps a hold with the long arm. Lian tries to get the walker free, but Lewis manages to push it into the Pit Release without great difficulty. Unfortunately for him, hitting the wall has shaken Metallic Doom loose and Lian wastes no time in scuttling back onto solid ground. The shuffler quickly positions itself for a squeezing, but Equinox is able to twirl away before it can be snatched up. Metallic Doom tries to keep up, but Equinox is simply too nimble. It's not long before the forks are under the shuffler again and this time there's no stopping Lewis. Equinox puts on a burst of speed and promptly dumps Metallic Doom into the Pit.
              EQUINOX: 3 pts
              METALLIC DOOM: 0 pts

HEAD OVER HEELS Vs MEATLOAF 2
Two very different robots collide in the arena centre. Head Over Heels attempts a charge with its rear wedge, but it's Meatloaf 2 who lands the first blow, striking one of the side-wedges. There's only a 3-point difference between Martijn's drum and Joey's Armour, but it's enough to leave some nasty-looking scars for now. Head Over Heels exacts some vengeance with a head-on collision, successfully ramming Meatloaf into the nearest wall. Martijn tries to wriggle away, but Joey is reluctant to let him go and rams the spinner a few more times. Eventually Head Over Heels puts on another burst of speed and pushes Meatloaf across the arena into Sgt Bash's CPZ. Meatloaf escapes before the House Robot can exact any damage and begins revving the drum up again. Head Over Heels pulls off another reverse-ram, but receives some more damage in the process and accidentally knocks Meatloaf further away from it. This pattern continues throughout the fight - Head Over Heels boxrushes Meatloaf, stopping the drum but taking a little more damage in the process. Meatloaf gets pushed about, sometimes into a wall, barely outmanouevers the rammer with its two-less wheels and starts spinning up again. Head Over Heels looks rather beaten and scuffed, but manages to stay in the fight until the end.
              HEAD OVER HEELS: 1 pt
              MEATLOAF 2: 1 pt

SUPER GORE SEPTUA Vs WEDGA: E.X.P.
This proves to be another close battle, with both robots proving an even match for each other. Wedga: EXP gets off to the quicker start, but Super Gore Septua proves just nimble enough on its tracks to dodge its opening attacks. The next few moments consist of the bots sizing each other up. Some brief blows are exchanged, but neither seems able to turn the tide. Super Gore keeps manouevering into a good position for a clamp, but Wedga keeps managing to nip out of harm's way. A few times Wedga gets a glancing blow on Super Gore's claws, but only once manages to invert it fully. This doesn't seem to bother Super Gore, however, as it manages to grapple Wedga's side before it can manouever away. The claws are strong enough to damage Wedga's shell, but not enough to cause any serious harm. This is good enough for Super Gore, however, who starts trying to push Wedga around the arena. Although Kody's tracks technically give him the edge here, you'd hardly notice given how even the robots' Traction stats are. At last Wedga manages to shake Super Gore off with a well-placed flip, but it doesn't last long. Super Gore spins around and the two find themselves side-by-side in another pushing match. Another couple of glancing flips from Wedga spice up the action until time runs out.
              SUPER GORE SEPTUA: 1 pt
              WEDGA: E.X.P: 1 pt

                Re: The EXP League

That was cool, nice stuff Mr. McG!

                BlackRose vs. Pendulum

Again, just like Hit 'em Harder, BlackRose is going to have a hard time pushing me about. At the same time, I'm probably going to have a hard time damaging BlackRose, so I think I'll play for a point here. Use my extra manoeuvrability to keep out of trouble and attack when possible. Like in the last battle, if I find that BlackRose is able to push me about, go into defence mode and spin on the spot.

                Metallic Doom vs. Wedga: EXP

Erm, that adds up to 26, right? Anyway, I am concerned about those claws, so I will try to avoid them whenever possible. However, just like with Super Gore Septua in the last match, they also offer me a nice target to get under and use to flip up. We're evenly matched in terms of speed and manoeuvrability, but I have far superior traction. My aim is to use that to my advantage to push Metallic Doom towards the arena walls and flip it OOTA. Of course, it's also helpful for pushing it into the CPZs or the pit too!

                  Re: The EXP League

                  w00t! Nice job Steve.

                  BlackRose vs. Pendulum

                  Thwackbots... :P

Wedge set-up. Be careful here. If he looks like he's gonna spin, get the front wedge facing his direction of spin. Then all he'll do is spin the thwack up the wedge, and possibly throw himself onto the wedge without BlackRose having to move forward. And if he goes over me, keep going in the direction I am going so he doesn't get a side thwack in on me. Other than that, shove him into nasty places.

Meatloaf 2 vs. Super Gore Septua

I have decent enough armour. Go straight for his drum, claws wide open. I'm not going to get a shot anywhere else, so do that. When I've stopped his drum, shove him into a wall, clamp him, and drag to pit. Keep the front on as much as possible. If he goes for the claws or the sides, reverse to cover my arse. Aggression certainly won't win me the battle here, but careful planning.

                  Good luck lads.

Mr T vs Hit 'Em Harder

Again, be agile, and keep him close to me, where my agility really shines. Lift, flip, be in control. I fancy the floor flipper, we are LW's after all.

Meatloaf vs Super Gore of the Septua kind

outmaneuver him and go for the sides, those big claws are a nice target to knock upwards, which will have impressive consequences. Be nimble to use my weapon as effective as possible. Maybe I wont damage him that badly, but I WILL damage him AND knock him all over the place.

                      Re: The EXP League

The Tunguska Project vs. The Servant: Um...similar tactics to last time but start out closer to the flame pit and avoid the flipper more, go for the pit with The Servant as quickly as I can. If one of the botlets goes, I know I've lost, but I'll try and carry on the fight with the other one for as long as I can just for the fun of it

Head Over Heels vs. Equinox: This may be a tricky fight...I am far faster than it which will help, hopefully cancelling out its maneuvrability advantage (btw for future reference Lewis: I'm not certain the angled wheels will help if you don't have 2WD) and I shall try and go for the sides and rear, penetrate the skirts, get underneath, flip, and then pit very quickly. If the front end comes around I should be able to avoid the clamp by a combination of high speed spinning and use of the flipper in a tight situation (I think, with the weapon powers being what they are, I can backdrive the clamp arm and get traction to get out of the clamp in an emergency...but I'll try and make sure that doesn't happen by going for the sides and rear :P)

Best of luck Lewis and Lian

                            ROUND 2
                            LIGHTWEIGHT DIVISION
HIT 'EM HARDER Vs MR. T
Mr T begins the fight the stronger, using its greater Speed and Manoueverability to run rings around Hit 'Em Harder. Lewis does his best to keep up, but just can't catch Martijn's machine. He can't even bring the axe into play, due to Mr T's higher Armour. stat. Mr T soon finds its way around to Hit 'Em Harder's rear and manages to flip it over a couple times. Before it can ready another attack, however, Hit 'em Harder powers underneath Mr T and easily shunts it into, well, Shunt. Lewis then hits the nearby Pit Release while Mr T takes a bad blow from the House Robot's axe. The two meet outside the CPZ, where Hit 'Em Harder hits Mr T hard into the nearest wall. Before it can happen again, however, Martijn swivels out of harm's way and once more procedes to taunt Hit 'Em Harder. Lewis again tries to match Mr T's speed, but finds his machine tossed and toppled several times before eventually being flipped into the Pit.

                            BLACKROSE Vs PENDULUM
This fight plays out in much the same way as Pendulum's clash with Hit 'Em Harder - BlackRose attempts to push its opponent into every hazard it can find, while Pendulum tumbles back and foth, trying to defend itself with some wild spinning. Andy's Manoueverability advantage means he does a good job avoiding BlackRose's charges, but once again, his hammer is incapable of doing any serious damage. BlackRose exploits this by staying on the aggressive, occasionally managing to scoop Pendulum up and smash it into a wall. The axlebot shows no signs of stopping, however, and continues to pester Kody's rammer. Things boil to a head near the end of the clash when BlackRose clips an evading Pendulum's wheel and sends it swinging into a wall. Kody pounces and beats the axlebot against the barrier, before pushing it effortlessly into Dead Metal's CPZ. Pendulum manages to roll out of the House Robot's clutches, but not without taking a nasty slice from the saw as time runs out.

THE SERVANT Vs THE TUNGUSKA PROJECT
The Servant gets off to a quick start, slamming the Tunguska Project mere moments after separating over the Flame Grill. Burning brightly once again, the pair split up - Project One rushes away to release the Pit, while Project Two distracts and torments the Servant. Lian is annoyed, but not greatly. The Servant proves quicker than Project Two and outmanouevers it several times for a few fancy flips. When Project One returns, however, things become more serious. Lian finds it tricky to keep an eye on both machines and the two Projects even manage to push the Servant around a little with their combined Traction stats. Lian regains control, however, when he manages to outmanouever Project One and flip it aside, allowing him to concentrate on Project Two. The Servant procedes to throw Project Two around the ring and towards the Pit. Project One rushes to rescue its brother, but almost arrives too late thanks to its slower Speed. Project One tries to shunt the Servant and help Project Two back into play, but the Servant simply spins round and flips it aside again. Project Two tries the same thing, but the Servant puts in one more flip before consigning it to the Pit. The fight is over, but not the fighting spirit of Project One. The surviving segment continues badgering the Servant regardless and puts it down the Pit as well. Joey won't get points for that, but he's avenged Project Two at least.
                            THE SERVANT: 3 pts
                            THE TUNGUSKA PROJECT: 0 pts

                            -------------------------------------------------

                            ROUND 1
                            HEAVYWEIGHT DIVISION
                            EQUINOX Vs HEAD OVER HEELS
Immediately Joey heads for the Pit Release, slamming into it before Lewis can catch up to him. Head Over Heels positions itself for an attack, but Equinox's superior Manoueverability turns the fight into an intriguing dance-off. A good chunk of the match sees the two robots trying to outwit each other, but not quite succeeding. Equinox proves too nimble for Head Over Heels to catch and push around with its great Traction, but Head Over Heels proves too quick for Equinox to capture and clamp. The audience is far from bored, however, as the two bots biff and bash each other like renegade dodgems all the while. The most significant development comes when Equinox dodges another head-on assault by Head Over Heels, only for the rammer to barge its side instead as it turns away. Joey instantly aims for the Pit and heads full throttle towards it. Sadly for him Equinox manages to pull another escapology act and get free. The robots resume their close-quarters jousting contest until time runs out.

MEATLOAF 2 Vs SUPER GORE SEPTUA
To Martijn's mild surprise, Kody starts this fight on the offensive. Super Gore Septua charges at Meatloaf 2, an attack the axlebot only narrowly misses. Super Gore turns to attack again, but Meatloaf strikes back, landing a powerful blow on one of the front claws. What follows is a tense, close-quarters clash between the two machines, with Meatloaf buzzing around Super Gore like a fly on a cow. Their Manoueverability stats are equal, but Martijn's greater Speed and two wheels give him the bare edge against Kody's slower tracks. This sees Super Gore take serious damage from Meatloaf's drum several times, interrupted only when a freak turn the right way manages to scoop the axlebot up in its clutches. The claws immediately grab one of Meatloaf's wheels before it can escape and Super Gore smashes it into the Pit Release. This has the unfortunate effect of releasing Meatloaf again, however, and the fight continues as before. Martijn keeps managing to stay just out of Super Gore's reach, all the while inflicting even more damage. Super Gore is looking in bad shape by now as Kody tries to hang on till the final whistle. He does well, but one good blow from Meatloaf near the end jams one of the tracks. Left spinning in circles, Super Gore is counted out.
                            MEATLOAF 2: 3 pts
                            SUPER GORE SEPTUA: 0 pts

                            METALLIC DOOM Vs WEDGA: E.X.P.
The final match of Round 2 opens very much like the last match of Round 1. Metallic Doom and Wedga: EXP size each other up, only landing a few glancing blows to begin with. Both are evenly matched in Speed and Manoueverability, though Metallic Doom's shuffling feet seem slightly less nimble than Wedga's wheels. Things liven up when Andy manages to catch one of the shuffler's claws and flip it over a couple times. Metallic Doom is unhindered, however, and nearly snatches Wedga in its claws. Wedga dodges and lands a couple more flips, followed by a push to the arena wall. Metallic Doom recovers before it can be thrown out altogether, though, and scoops Wedga up in its arms. Lian pins the flipper against the wall and brings the claws into play. Wedga's Armour is punctured, but the bot itself is still very much alive. Andy brings his superior Traction into play, pushing Metallic Doom around the arena and eventually into Dead Metal's CPZ. This leads to an unusual chain being forged - Dead Metal grappling Metallic Doom, Metallic Doom grappling Wedga and Wedga trying to flip Dead Metal. A little violent struggling from both competitors shortly sees them fleeing the CPZ and back into the arena, where they continue to spar till the end of the battle.
                            METALLIC DOOM: 1 pt
                            WEDGA: E.X.P: 1 pt

                              Re: The EXP League

Dear oh dear, poor SGS. Although the fact Steven McGregor wrote the result lessens the blow somewhat.

                              BlackRose vs. Hit 'Em Harder

                              Not you again! :P

Use previous tactics used against Pendulum, the wedge of HeH's doesn't bother me too much. Only be VERY careful of HeH's overhead thwack, that's what won him the battle on ARC. Horizontal thwacks should glance off the wedge, or the side skirts if they hit, and go flying up. Since I can't make a good thwackbot to save my life, I have a general loathing of all other thwackbots, sorry. :P

                              Equinox vs. Super Gore Septua

Ah, an all-Lewis Round, I see. General clamp and pit tactics, please.

                              G'luck, Lewis.

                                Re: The EXP League

Yay, im joint 1st in the LW's

Ok my plan against Pendulum is to charge into him, try and avoid the thwack, eat a hit or 2 if i must, and get him down
                                the pit pronto

HW- Ouch, my claws are wide enough, so i'll grab its wheels and hop the drum dont hit me then take him to the pit

                                Good luck guys
