Re: The Crash & Burn Tournament - Ants! Ants! Ants!

viewtopic.php?p=104856#p104856 for the full details and pics, but it's basically a titanium and polycarbonate wedge, with a front hinged flipper as its main weapon, and its main strengths being tough armour and quite a bit of power behind it.

It is also currently, as of yesterday, the reigning Antweight World Series champion

Tactics will be to try and stop the spinup and avoid using the weapon except as an aid to removing Kruger from the arena, and also try and avoid exposing my sides to it (well, I say sides, the lack of sides is a bit of an issue XD)

Re: The Crash & Burn Tournament - Ants! Ants! Ants!

        Skeith vs. TransparANT 2.0

Hmm, similar robots, but I have a few advantages:

        1) Skeith uses 30:1 gearmotors and TransparANT 2.0 uses 50:1 High Power gearmotors, which means I am both faster and more powerful.
        2) Skeith is four-wheel drive and TransparANT 2.0 is two-wheel drive, which means I should be more manoeuvrable.

So, simple tactics - outdrive Skeith with my better manoeuvrability, get round the sides, scoop it up with my front wedge and use my power to push it into one of the drop-offs.

        Good luck, Tracy.

          Kruger VS Jigsaw V
          Tactics:
Spin up then attack from the sides, should be able to duck around the side with the 50% more speed Kruger has. Just keep attacking till he stops moving.

Congrats on the win @ AWS, Joey!

blah! been away too long...is it still okay if i enter?

            Dead meat evo

Basicly a 2 wheel drive 3mm polycarbonate invertable wedge, powered by 30:1 micro gear motors, 11.1v 3cell lipo batterys, spectrum radio gear and a Sabertooth dual speed controller, it uses extra grippy tires to provide both great traction and good speed (big footprint on the floor) it also has a thin piece of acitate at the front to help get under even the lowest opponents

            pictures and videos:

            there is a picture here: http://s770.photobucket.com/albums/xx34 ... ture10.jpg
as well as a rather god awful old video here:

(and no, i had not been kicked in the balls shortly before making the video)

so yeah...if your still willing to give it a try there it is

Have I Got News For You...

Wait what? That's the wrong script...

*walks backstage and yells at a few people; returns with correct script*

That's better. Now, then...are we ready to have some ant-imosity in the warzone?! Good! Let's get stuck in!

              Fight 1
              Kruger vs. Jigsaw V

              From Austrailia...Kruger!
An unusual robot in that it only has one blade, but has a counter-weight to balance the spinner. A polycarb shell protects the innards and it's 2WD. The srimech attempts should look a sight though.

From Pontefract, England, reigning AWS champion...Jigsaw V!
Wedge shape, front-hinged flipper, takes some design cues from heavyweight Firestorm V, quick, pushy, but I don't like the look of those sides though, because they're not there.

              Roboteers, stand by...

Oh dear. Do we even need an announcer for the antweights? I guess we do. We don't need house robots though.

              2...

Ehehehehe! Off they go, look at this. Jigsaw's immediately crashed into the wall, Kruger's done a triple lutz. It sure is comedy out there. Jigsaw swerves, misses, Kruger spins, misses...oh there's a hit! But it's directly to the front of Jigsaw and it bounces off! Jigsaw drives forward...and misses! Aaron spins his antweight around, trying to line up a hit, and Joey does the same for bracing for the hit. Kruger tries driving off to the side, and Jigsaw turns...too far! Kruger hits! SMACK! Hahahahaha! Oh dear they just - it's all over! Jigsaw has been sent flying into the drop off zone! A lucky hit wins the match for Aaron!

              Cease!

              Winner: Kruger!

                Fight 2
                Skeith vs. TransparANT 2.0

                From Patricia in Alberta, Canada...Skeith!
Otherwise known as 'The Terror of Death', Tracy Farber's entry has 4WD, is invertible, and runs off pretty decent motors. Its front wedge is heavily armoured for an antweight, but otherwise very weak elsewhere with thin polycarb. Could Skeith destroy all in its way, or will the opposition leave its data drained?

From Shrewsbury in Shropshire, England...TransparANT 2.0!
Recently the best newcomer of the AWS, this robot is similar to its opponent. Box wedge, invertible, tough front armour, weak polycarbonate armour (at least in the back) in other places. What makes Andrew Jackson's creation different? 2WD, more powerful motors, and less length. Less controlled than its opponent? Possibly, which means TransparANT could fade from the tournament right quick.

                Roboteers, stand by.

                3...
                2...
                1...

TransparANT's already across the arena like a shot, and underneath Skeith before the lengthier is even 1/4ths across! Skeith goes onto the wedge and is slammed into the wall. TransparANT keeps him there as long as he can, but the 30 second rule still applies here so TransparANT has to back off after that amount of time has passed. Andy waits it out though, knowing it'll give him more points with the judges. 30 seconds pass and Andy backs off...but Tracy just runs right into him. Unfortunately thanks to the 2WD over 4WD, TransparANT's wedge hits the ground and Skeith's really doesn't...so Skeith ends up going up the wedge again. TransparANT smacks Skeith into the wall again and 30 more seconds go by...Andy backs off, and Tracy this time tries to go around...and does, just too much. TransparANT also spins to try and keep the front pointed at Skeith. What ends up happening is that both robots are side-by-side. Skeith turns into TransparANT's direction but TransparANT reverses and Skeith ends up spinning around. TransparANT then drives towards Skeith, who manages to dodge it but then drives straight into the wall. Andy slams his machine right into Tracy's, the latter's currently reversing, and Skeith goes flying. It lands with the wedge pointed at TransparANT's rear. Tracy drives in before Andy can spin hs machine around and now we have Skeith pinning TransparANT for 30 seconds. Tracy lets go after that amount of time has elapsed, but moves back in. TransparANT spins about too late and Skeith gets under the side. This breaks Skeith's perpendicularity with the wall and forces Skeith along it, but Tracy only ends up pushing Andy into a corner. 30 more seconds...Skeith backs off and TransparANT gets back into the game, catching Skeith before it's ready and pushes it across the arena...victory is assured as TransparANT reaches the drop-out zone and deposits Skeith in.

                Cease!

                  Jigsaw V vs. TransparANT 2.0

                  Hahaha...

Jigsaw V and TransparANT fought at Antweight World Series 32, and TransparANT was the winner. Joey will quite rightly tell you that Jigsaw€™s flipper wasn€™t working, but he might not tell you that TransparANT has been made invertible since then. Now that the history is out of the way, it€™s time for the virtual grudge match!

My tactics are simple - stick to the sides and try to push Jigsaw off the drop-offs. Avoid the flipper if possible and hope that the servo burns out...

                  Good luck, champ.

Kruger's barely gotten to speed when Skeith smacks into it and BANG! Kruger flies into the air! Damage report - no damage done to Skeith at all! Kruger has mercifully landed back on his wheels, Tracy however has to back Skeith away from the wall, giving Aaron ample time to spin Kruger's weapon back up. Lining itself up, Skeith barrels forward and Kruger can't move away in time...BANG! Ooh, I think I saw a spark! And Kruger's airborne again! Didn't get as much air as last time though and so he falls back down, again onto his wheels, that shell is holding up nicely. But now Skeith has a clear shot at Kruger and rams it down. Kruger = meet wall. Crunch. Nope, Skeith is content to hold the spinner there for 30 seconds, of which Aaron can't spin the weapon up because Skeith is jamming it. Finally Tracy backs off and Aaron gets some breathing room...finally he decides to get aggressive and, spinning the weapon up, flies straight for Skeith. But even Tracy knows that this is a feint and she drives straight at him. Kruger however spins around and tries to keep the weapon spun up...the result is a huge SMACK and a cry from the Team Alt camp! Kruger's plan seems to have worked as it spun the blade right into Skeith's side and shredded the polycarb all off like nothing! Tracy backs the hell away as Aaron comes on the attack again...then Tracy guns it! Quickly Kruger tries to turn but nothing doing! BANG! The ultra-strong wedge deflects the blow again and Kruger is sent spinning away! Skeith tries to follow up but misses Kruger and Aaron gets his machine away. Spinning up again Kruger once again tries to have a go at Skeith's sides but Skeith just charges and spins about, Kruger doing likewise. Both machines face each other again. Aaron can't help but be impressed by the strength of the newcomer antweight. Tracy meanwhile has the crap scared out of her by that earlier hit. Joey and Andy are watching from the sidelines, Joey making an obligatory comment about TransparANT and Andy smirking.

Knowing he has to do something, Kruger charges Skeith again. Skeith merely charges as well. Kruger then pulls around, trying the same trick over again. And hell does it ever work! SMACK! Skeith loses its rear panel! Well, almost! And Skeith itself is sent flying into a wall, nearly down into the drop-off area! Kruger hurriedly rushes over to try and push Skeith down, but miraculously Skeith drives away! Tough little bassa, innit? Kruger chases it down with the blade, and Skeith spins around. Skeith spins a bit too far and Kruger tries going further to get a clear shot at the back again, but Skeith manages to correct itself and drives into the blade! BANG! Kruger is sent chassis-over-teakettle across the arena floor, while Skeith manages to deflect the blow again. Kruger is again on his wheels, and goes around Skeith...hang on, the blade isn't spinning! As if that wasn't enough, an audible curse comes from Aaron, and you know there's trouble now. Skeith however isn't taking anything for granted and keeps the wedge pointed at Kruger...lucky he did! The blade is spinning again...and now isn't! Skeith rams it, and Kruger, across the arena into the wall, and along it! They're headed for the drop-off area! Ahhh...what a pity! Kruger finishes the match in the land down under after a very well fought fight!

                      Cease!

Jigsaw comes straight for TransparANT who...guns for the sides of the arena. Jigsaw keeps advancing anyway and eventually gets under the side of TransparANT, throwing it up against the wall with its font higed fipper. Inside jokes aside, TransparANT falls off once the weaponry of Jigsaw snaps down, but back to that flipper. Which pumps TransparANT against the wall again. Jigsaw just holds TransparANT there for 30 seconds, then is forced to back off. TransparANT then drives away from the walls, his tactics not working too well, and tries to get around Jigsaw's front. He manages this, as Jigsaw overcompensates a bit, but eats wedge as Jigsaw corrects itself just in time. Unfortunately Jigsaw isn't really able to get under TransparANT, and vice-versa, so now we have a pushing match. And it seems TransparANT is winning, though all he'll be able to do is push Jigsaw into the wall, each bot's side is to the drop-out zone. To the wall Jigsaw finally ends up being placed against, and now 30 seconds in TransparANT's favour go by. Then he's forced to let go and Jigsaw is able to get back into the game. Surprisingly he manages to deke out TransparANT (earning an appreciative whistle from Aaron who is watching) and getting to the side slides under and tips TransparANT onto his back! Now at a huge disadvantage, TransparANT tries having a go at Jigsaw's sides again, but it's Jigsaw who finds TransparANT's sides. He wedges Andy's bot, but can't turn enough to push TransparANT to the drop-out zone and settles for another wall smack. This actually rights TransparANT, who immediately takes his god-given opportunity and barrels into Jigsaw from the side, and slams Jigsaw into the wall as well! Jigsaw bounces off but unlike the last slam doesn't bounce enough to become inverted. He then meets TransparANT wedge to wedge again and another pushing match ensues. TransparANT continues to win the shoving matches and has Jigsaw up against the wall again for another 30 seconds. Andy then lets go and Jigsaw gets all aggressive, smacking into TransparANT's front and driving away before the latter can react.

The audience aren't really loving the battle, being comprised of spinner fans, but that's tough schee-ite. Once again, TransparANT and Jigsaw meet, but Joey is backing off before Andy can win another pushing match and TransparANT nearly drives into the wall. It spins around but Jigsaw crashes into it much too quickly. Oho! Jigsaw's under it! Joey drives forward and flips Andy's bot over! Once again inverted, TransparANT tries gunning for Jigsaw's sides. He actually manages to do it again as Jigsaw overcompensates once more, and pushes Jigsaw across the arena, but Jigsaw escapes too easily. Then Jigsaw spins aside and knocks a charge from TransparANT aside, gaining access to his side! A push, a shove, and a aww bugger! later, TransparANT is in the drop-out zone and we're all evened up!

Fresh off their respective victories, Joey and Tracy look to move on up one step further. Skeith heads straight for Jigsaw but ends up going straight onto the wedge, but overtop of it before Jigsaw can flip it. Knowing this won't work out that well, Tracy tries going for the sides, but ends up overshooting the mark and nearly hits the wall. That's okay, Joey overturned anyway, and has to re-orient. But that doesn't stop Jigsaw from driving straight at Skeith, who runs away. Jigsaw pursues Skeith but the latter is fast enough to evade the charges and after several more seconds of charges, misses, and more misses, Skeith finds the side of Jigsaw and, getting a good hold under it, rams it straight into the wall! Jigsaw bounces off and...lands on its side. Uh oh. Both Joey and Tracy burst out laughing at this, and even Andy and Aaron have a bit of a chuckle. Jigsaw furiously spins its wheels but it's not doing much, so he tries the flipper. This, in combination with the momentum from his wheels, overbalances him and he tips onto his back! Skeith is right there and pushes him across the arena. Jigsaw however self-rights and in doing so puts himself out of harm's way! A miraculous recovery from Jigsaw and now he's trying to get back into the game, getting under Skeith and pushing it, but Skeith is half-wedged so Jigsaw can't exactly flip him. Jigsaw shoves Skeith into the wall and holds him there, grinding the floor away to try and get fully underneath for a flip. Eventually he lucks out and Skeith is pushed up against the wall. Skeith eventually falls onto his back, precisely what Tracy didn't want. Skeith runs away...wedge-first into another wall and Jigsaw slams into it, but the force from this tips Skeith back right-side-up, and somewhat onto the flipper of Jigsaw. Jigsaw fires it, but it merely tips Skeith off of Jigsaw's top and back away. Skeith turns and barrels into Jigsaw before the latter can have a chance to move, and wedges it side-on against the wall. Joey works the controls furiously and manages to get away...until Skeith, chasing after it, catches up and wedges it again, this time from the rear, and unfortunately it's directly headed for the drop-out area! Joey kicks the drive in reverse, but too late; Jigsaw only manages to get his wheels on top of Skeith before he is dumped into the zone anyway, and Skeith falls on top of it! We have our first finalist!

                          Winner: Skeith!!!

                            TransparANT 2.0 vs. Kruger

TransparANT has battled spinners before and has stood up to them all so far. Kruger is a good spinner, but I don€™t think anything in this weight class can cause much damage to 5mm polycarbonate. Keep the wedge facing Kruger, as despite being thinner, it can still take the hits. Use my classic rammer vs. spinner tactics (Hypno-Disc vs. Tornado) and keep the spinner speed down. Then use my superior drive system to push it out. If the spinner gets up to speed, just fly at it and hope for the best.

                            Good luck, Aaron.

So who gets to fight Skeith for the crown? We will see! Kruger's out with the blade already and Andy immediately has to bite the bullet and ram him! Which TransparANT does! A massive shot to the wedge later and TransparANT's front looks slightly woe-begotten. This has however smacked Kruger into the air somewhat and he lands on his back! This doesn't hold up for long though; as TransparANT comes out to ram him, Kruger tips onto his side and the blade hits the floor! Not only does this carve up the floor slightly, it also sends Kruger flying away from TransparANT and out of harm's way! With all wheels on the ground and weapon getting back up to speed, Kruger advances again. But there's no backing down from the Jackson camp and TransparANT charges Kruger again. There's an almighty SMACK and both robots are sent flying! Kruger hits a side wall, while TransparANT hits the rear one. Upon a closer replay, we can see that Kruger managed to hit the front corner of TransparANT and tear into it...nice shot! But TransparANT isn't really fazed too much by the hit and proceeds to scoop Kruger upon the wedge. Kruger however falls off quickly, spins the blade up, and tries to hit the same corner. Instead, TransparANT turns and Kruger fully hits the wedge. He nearly falls onto his back again but ends up on the side of TransparANT's wedge, which is now rather torn into but still succeeding in its chief purpose. TransparANT zooms towards the drop-off area but stops short; he'll put himself in first, at that trajectory! No other alternative comes and Andy turns his machine to face the wall, now fully wedging Kruger and driving Aaron's antweight directly into the wall! Another smack later and Kruger is behind TransparANT, but Andy quickly reverses to stop the blade. Aaron moves Kruger away and tries to spin up better, but now TransparANT fully has the wedge pointed at him! There's another charge from the Jackson machine and...he misses. Kruger gets a direct shot at the side and...misses, but hits the rear!! OH NO!!! Kruger sent himself into the drop-off area! But TransparANT can't move! Andy's flicking the controls, but there's no movement! And so we have to go to our first judges' decision of the tournament!
