  • The Fowler Fic War Series 2!

NOTE: PLEASE READ THIS ENTIRE POST BEFORE ENTERING. I WILL BE VERY ANNOYED IF PEOPLE DON€™T COINCIDE WITH WHAT I€™VE SAID.

Welcome to the Fowler Fic War Series 2!

For those who didn€™t enter, or entered and didn€™t read the first, this is your chance to enter and/or to catch up on what happened in the first war. I will state the revolutionary new rules for the new series in a minute, but firstly let me show you the seedings, presuming that all robots below are entered, which I know for a fact they won€™t be!

    1. Scoop and Stab the 2nd and a bit
    2. Tempest
    3. Wedginator Revo
    4. Barberous 2
    5. Killion
    6. Killotine Evo
    7. Behemoth
    8. Need for Speed
    9. Whirligig
    10. Facelift 2004
    11. Hypnodisc
    12. N.J.A.C.C. 2
    13. TNC (Mine, therefore unlikely to hold it€™s seeding unless numbers are short)
    14. The Nutcracker
    15. Cosmic Error
    16. Omega
    17. Tonne Thunder 2
    18. Razer
    19. Firestorm V
    20. Queen of Black Hearts
    21. Taolin (Mine, therefore unlikely to hold it€™s seeding unless numbers are short)
    22. Deadblow
    23. Wraith
    24. Avada Kedavra

Right, now you know what happened in the last war let€™s get on with the rules of this one

    ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

I€™m looking for 12 people to enter 8 robots each, all of which must fit inside these barriers

Max Weight- 100kg for normal robots
    175kg for true walkers
    150kg for sliders
    125kg for shufflers
    110kg for tracks

Weaponry requirements- No flame throwers, heat exuding weapons, missiles, explosive, magnets or water based weaponry

Discs- These must fit into these balances which I€™ll try to explain. 25kg discs must no spin higher than 2500rpm and for every 10kg up 500rpm must come off and for every 10kg down, 500rpm may be added. Full body spinners may not spin quicker than 3500rpm

Axes/ Crushers- These must not have a force of more than 7 tonnes at the tip

Flippers- These must not have a force of 2.5 tonnes on the flipper blade.

Static weapons- These are allowed, but having no weapon whatsoever is not.

    Types of robots

Flying robots- Banned, don€™t argue. Just banned.

Clusterbots- These are allowed, but are limited to either 2,4 or 5 parts. I apologise to those of you have 3 way clusterbots

THE REVOLUTIONARY PART OF THE TOURNAMENT!

The thing that makes this tournament so special, is that, apart from the battles themselves, the entire tournament is based entirely on randomization.

First of all to be randomized is the draw. Once again, every entrant must choose a number, but this time, as opposed to it being in a patterned system, the draw will be done, much like the draws for the football. I will put the number of every robot into a drawing pot and then draw them at random into 12 heats of 8.

Next to be randomized is the style of the heat. There are 12 heats + 2 semi-finals with 7 formats, each being used twice

Format 1. Series 2 style heat with gauntlet, trial and then battles. N.B. 2 robots will be eliminated from the gauntlet and the trial. N.N.B. The trial both times will be King of the Castle

Format 2. Series 5 style heat with 7 straight battles

Format 3. Series 7 style heat with two melees before 3 straight battles.

    Format 4. An 8-robot annihilator

Format 5. My personal favourite, mainly because I invented it. The 5 minute massacre. All robots will stay in the arena for 5 minutes, seeing how many of the others they can eliminate inside 5 minutes. After 5 minutes, cease is called and however many robots are gone must leave and the whole process starts again. When 1 robot is left they go through to the series semis

Format 6. The Long Haul. All robots may charge their batteries up to maximum, because this will last a while! First of all they must get through a massive gauntlet past all of the hazards and house robots (Who we€™ll meet later down the page) before opening a gate to get into the arena, at which point they€™re safe until another robot opens the gate. On the presumption that more than one robot makes it past the gauntlet, then however many robots make it there, must fight it out in a battle to the death, all without chargin their batteries

Format 7. Harshness personified. This will be a test for some and easy for others. The 8 robots will be randomly (Yes, I know another random thing.) and will go into the arena 1 minute apart. The first robot will have only 30 seconds, in which they can start up whichever features they want that are in that particular arena. Whichever robot survives last, will be crowned the champion.

    Next, we meet€¦€¦

    THE ARENAS.

Before we meet the arena€™s, I€™ll tell you how the heats will work in relation to the heats.

Format 1- The gauntlet and trial will be played in their normal arena and the battles will take place in separate ones.

    Format 2- All different

    Format 3- As above

Format 4- Different for each round

Format 5- All in the same arena.

Format 6- The gauntlet will be an enlarged version of the series 2 one, and the arena will be drawn at random.

Format 7- All set in one arena.

There are 6 arenas and here they are!

Arena 1- Classic Arena- This is the exact arena from Series 6, 6 not 7, 6.

Arena 2- The Black Hole- This arena is meant to confuse the drivers€™ eyes. It is a round arena with the only feature being a large constantly open pit, 3 times the volume of the UK one, in the center of the arena. The only light in the arena comes from the walls, the entire wall rotates and has star-like illuminations around the outside.

Arena 3- The Butcher€™s- A large square box. This time the only features, are the spiked rails around the side onto which you can put a robot, but not flip out the arena, and 4 holes in the roof, from which come up and down, in a set pattern, 4x 200kg blocks made of solid steel, with a hardox tipped point at the end of them, which will fall on you with enough force to crush a Land Rover. As well as this there are 4 CPZ€™s, each occupied by one of our resident house robots.

Arena 4 - The Helix- A large spiral of conveyor belts, which lead to the center, and a large pit. The belts traction is enough to pull a loaded Mini. The arena is like a sumo platform, so should anyone want to get away quickly, they can just jump off! The arena is still very big though and has a 50m diameter. One randomly drawn house robot ahs the freedom of the Helix though may not push anything out or down the pit. It may however, damage them and put them in a position from which the other robot has an advantage.

Arena 5- The Drop- A large arena, around 2 ½ times the size of the UK arena which has 4 CPZ€™s and apart from that, only 1 feature. Or 10, depending how you look at it. There are 10 panels in the middle of the arena. One of these is a trap door. One of these is a censored flipper, which will fire automatically. The last one has an electromagnet with enough power to hold onto a 300kg lump of metal.

Arena 6- L€™appartament- An idea which I€™m amazed that no-one has come up with before. A leveled arena. Several large 35 degree ramps, enable you to travel between the 4 levels, and each level has a different theme. The top level, which you start on, holds 4 of our house robots. Level 2(God, it€™s like a platform game!) holds a large 50kg 2500rpm blade and other than the ramps, the entire platform has rails with hardox tipped spikes. Level 3 is the only level you can flip people out of the arena on. Other than that, the only feature is the butcher. If you drive over it, it will immediately shoot up and crush you between it and the ceiling which has titanium spikes dangling down. The butcher€™s spike drops into the bottom level as well as 4 large Terrorhurtz style axes around the edge which will slash through.

    Next, are the house robots.

Father of Rotatovator- My most dangerous robot has been made into the most dangerous of the house robots. This 347kg robot has updated it€™s weapon to 80kg at 2500rpm means that he can tear through a car without a problem. This version is still legged btu thanks to the new powerful motors can move at up to 9mph

Pearcer- Our tribute to the best football and worst Robot Wars commentator of all time. Weighing 125kg and armed with 2 splinter style side arms and a large pneumatic drill hops to cut with as much venom as Jonno€™s tongue

Buzz Flight-Gear- Weighing in at 140kg this robot is a large quick wedge shape and out of the wedge comes a mini but deadly killsaw capable of sawing dreams quicker than Simon Cowell€™s voice. It also has the power and speed of Storm 2 and will smack all robots into submission.

Dynamite Tee-Hee!- What would house robots be without one that has a flame thrower. This flamethrower is like a lance and can pick robots up before grilling them to a cinder. It also has a rear axe which hits with the force of Dominator 2

Ringlets- Not the Daddy, but possibly the most dangerous of the house robots, Ringlets is a horizontal spinner and a fullbody spinner in 1. A cylinder divided into 3 with 2 spinning rings around the outside sections and a large 35kg spinning disc in the center, means that anyone coming near this will feels over 170kg of pain.

Smack the Flipper- A combined flipper and Hammer, 223kg Smack, has a large Terrorhurtz style zxe with about double the power and a front flipper with the force of Chaos 2.

    And finally€¦.our referee

    Donald Tr-Umpire

Weighing in at 130kg this is the first referee with a genuine weapon. As well as having the normal counter etc and fire extinguisher, this referee is armoured with a Srimech and a large cutting claw for those robots who decide to take him on.

The final thing, which you have to have read the stats to be able to do, is to enter your stats into this format. Those inputs marked with a (1) require only to be put in with the first robots stats. Those marked with an asterisk are not necessary, but may help your cause. All other categories must be filled in

Im... Not entering. Some of the arena ideas place incredibly unfair stresses on batteries, and will be impossible for a robot to win if its built to last just 5-6 minutes which most robots are, and two of the arenas will be impossible to control your robot in.

Just in case people forget, dont forget to give your robots their numbers from 1 to 96 when entering.

Mr. Frank, if you would like to make suggestions, you are very welcome, and as for batteries, most of them can be charged to last up to 20mins, its just for some bizarre reason Mentorn insisted on limiting the actual working time to 5mins. Therefore, all robots are allowed to charge their batterie up fully

I do apologise, bit Ive had enough with people trying to ben my tournament rules, so Ive put strict guidelines on to prevent little swines trying to do the same thing again. So far however, so people dont get offended, Im not talking to anyone who has posted on this thread so far.

I am not entering either, the whole thing is a bit too randomized for my liking. I like the idea of the 8 way annihilator, but the other arenas you made seem a bit farfetched. Also, the whole pick a number for all our entries seems a bit pointless. If the draw is done randomly, then what is the point of the numbers? Why not do 1 for the first bot entered, 2 for the 2nd bot entered and so on. I also agree about the weapon limitations being a bit harsh. Fair enough about clusterbots, but the majority of vapours nowadays are deadly, and all exceed those limitation.

Why not do this tournament with 12 heats, each one being an 8 way annihilator which 1 bot from each heat going through to the semis? It is a lot easier, and there can be a lot more carnage.

Mentorn cant have limited working time to 5 minutes as some fights in series 7 lasted longer than 5 minutes. I dont know how many, but Big Nipper vs Grim Repear did, as did Mute vs Judge Shred. As for the problems I have...

                              Weapon rules

If someone has the skill to make a weapon which is extremely powerful, while not breaking down, theyll still be forced into not entering. For example I dont think ANY of Aarons machines could be entered with these rules.

                              Format 5.

What if no robots are killed?

                              Format 6 + 7.

Robots with high energy draw motors will be at a horrible disadvantage, especially if they go first.

                              Arena 2

Think realistically. NO-ONE could see what the hell they were doing, making it a fumbling around in the dark type fight, which would more likely have everyone falling down the pit. Plus it would be dangerous if anyone was prone to epilepsy.

                              Arena 4

Maybe Im reading this wrong, but it looks like youll need to go over the belts in order to get from one end of the arena to the other. Control will be a nightmare and youll probably end up dodging the belts more than fighting your opponant.

                              Arena 5

Can you IMAGINE the electrical interference from a magnet that big? Besides very few vapours are made of magnetic material, so its a waste of space :P

                              Arena 6

A large majority of vapours are built with a minimal ground clearence and wouldnt be able to go up those ramps.
