Suddenly, Blotter's snail begins to sing a little jingle (which is faintly disturbing... it has no visible mouth) and the Marowak answers it.

It's Urtusk the WereManatee from the forensics lab, results are in, although they may not be entirely to your liking.

The substance is artificial, and furthermore patented - under a special kind of classified. All you know is that someone has paid money to conceal from the public what it is and who made it. You'll have to pay a visit to the patent office, with a warrant, to find out any more.

It wound seem to be however, some kind of biological nanotech infused DNA, far more complicated than anything Urtusk has ever seen. Urtusk passes over the patent number to give to the office.

Update time:

Blotter finally materialises, and sets off on his own to the patent office, armed with a warrant got from Fernando in exchange for a future favour.

Upon arriving he has a short debate with a creature which resembles a series of donuts interlinked like a chain. The warrant closes this arguement down though and Blotter is shown the information.

He takes a copy of the file, it seems to a kind of artificial flesh with various modifications most notably, removing aging, and giving complete immunity to poison and disease. What uses it might have is not mentioned. It seems to belong to a company called the AK Group, but doesn't give any contact information. Blotter then heads back to the police station.

Elsewhere, following Atoom's directions - Maurice meets Jacoby - an irrate Recap, who lends him 5 assorted shapechanging rings that should get people into Bloodmoon. Their specific forms are unknown, and once worn they can only be removed after a minimum of three hours.

Maurice takes the lapis lazuli, Blotter the Red Gold, Patricia the black metal and emerald, Phil the silver and black and Taranis is left with silver and amythest.

Meanwhile at Castle Rock while discussing her potential origin, Patricia gets given the theory that she is a very rare twice-fallen someone who has managed to fall between dimensions twice. From the top of her head, the only other being Atoom knows off who has done that is an ancient historical figure called Doomforall

After that, taking a slice of very good cake with them, they pay to get a cricket take them back to the police station meet everyone else.

Further Update:

The AK Group is according to police records, an ultra-high tech company whose work is largely classified. There is an address for the industrial district but there are large holes in what data you have, including, but not limited to, what products they make, and where there money comes from. They have large numbers of shares in the Mechanists company though.

Meanwhile, so they can get to the bar, Phil, Maurice and Patricia put on their rings.

Maurice turns into a suave one eyed late 50s man with white hair and a white suit and a very charismatic voice.
Patricia has become what seems to be a 8ft tall suit of animated skull and spike themed black armour, complete with cape.
Phil on the other hand has got a ring giving him the form of a voluptuous female vampire, with velvet corset dress. Being a creative type, he is less weirded out by this than most.

Blotter and Taranis still have their rings to put on, which if they could confirm that they will and then head off to Bloodmoon, would be much appreciated.

Well, as I have the plans for Bloodmoon for less than half the party, I won't be able to do the full update before Cornwall. However, I'll update Steve and Joey's plotlines and generally getting into Bloodmoon.

Taranis puts on the ring, and suddenly is a lot more metallic. This particular ring seems to be one that has transformed the mutant child into a contemporary Party-bot in this case, a recent androgenous model with the ability to shift between different outfits, either male or female and slightly adjust form accordingly. It's obviously an expensive model, though unfortunatly has an irritating vaguely european accent and a smooth white and silver finish. Currently, set to androgenous default with skinny jeans, a plain black t-shirt and shades.

After entering Bloodmoon, and getting nods from the bouncers for being suitably powerful, rich and/or attractive, the five enter a huge spherical room where they hover in the Zero-G room. This is the main 'floor' of the club, and the room is clean and white, with the hexagons that form the outside of the sphere either being panels which constantly change soft colours, or a large number of portals that go to different slightly Higher-G rooms. In the centre of the room, is an insectoid humaoid with far to many arms for it's thin frame mixing at least 15 tracks at once.

Patricia, feeling clumsy in the massive and heavy armour, heads towards the bar, the only fully normal gravity room in the club. Within it she finds a man dressed in black a black suit and wearing a mask. he claims to be V - the V, and after a brief conversation he offers her a job on the basis that for a Dreadknight (presumable the identity of this new armoured form) she shows remarkable power to the degree where she isn't compelled to be maliciously evil. He even goes far to offer a job, guardign the transferance of an unspecified but very dangerous device between Industrial District and Docks. This is apparently utterly legal, and though Patricia is nervous about it, he hands her his card - which turns out to be a small living origami winged goblin thing made out of a a good quality handmade paper.

Meanwhile Phil is making use of his new form in the Venetian Ballroom floor, and meets a fellow musician. It turns out to be the Cellist - a part time concert Cellist, part time Cello themed super heroine. She doesn't give the slightest sign of being attracted to Phil in his current guise, but does get gossiping about music and the current crime fighters who are making their mark. For two days now apparently a guy has been really laying the heat on magic users and scientist villains, beating them up pretty severely. Rumours are it's a guy who'd been pretty minor league til now called the Squire.

The other three, as they haven't decided what to do wander between the floors a bit and eavesdrop a lot of interestign characters:

Hans Crabmeister - a Billionaire hedonistic Industrialist Giant Prawn with a really irritating Germanic Accent
Lots of Partybots, including a very old one calling itself Sir Chromalot
Numerous rich and spoilt heirs and heiresses
Bouncers and Musicians and Bartenders

There are plenty of options about...

Most worryingly though, there is someone matching the description of Ten-knife present.

Given recent circumstances in his home country, Maurice needs some time for himself. He's sitting in a dark corner, at a bar, drowning his sorrows in French cognac. He'll be of no use for at least a few hours, which, in real life, is roughly when Alex comes back here.

He'd better not run into any Uruguayans, Mexicans or South Africans here!

Well I won't be here for a while either so (if I don't get back before Alex) can I let whichever party I'm in make my decisions for me, and can Alex decide what group I'll be in, if we do at all split up?

Furthermore, Maurice and Patricia have done some more talking and have uncovered the following things:

Patricia, talking to V has discovered:
V set the warrant, and the reward is payable to a dark elf at the bar. More interestingly perhaps is that according to V, he set the reward in the hope of putting your group under pressure and causing them to change the state of play. Also suggested is that people probably can't permenantly kill you because you are important pieces in 'a game of powerful players who play for high stakes' - if you were killed one of those players would find a way to put you 'back on the board'
Following that, Patricia asked around and discovered that AK Corps were not widely known, but by business types, were known as a company who provided a cure for billionaires who've ruined their lungs with cigars - and that they seem to of a lot of trading with the Mechanists Company.

Meanwhile, because of his charismatic voice, Maurice has talked to Ten-knife and discovered a bit of his back story and about about this world in general.
On his part, it seemed he got a Doctorate in history, but turned to murder as a profession when it turned out there were not jobs in history.
Ten-knife also explains that you are 'Fallers' - the local name for those from another plane and that you are relatively lucky - Fallers sometimes arrive in empty space or the heart of a sun, although there a few survivors of that sort of thing despite the odds. He also suggests that the number of fallers has dropped sharply in the last centuary and a half.

The night begins to draw to a close and people start leaving, the club getting quieter.

Phil, in his disguise, talks to Crabmeister - the prawn makes several lewd comments, but refuses to be drawn on any useful information, yet. What he does say is that he wants a certain item€¦ acquired and if someone was to do that, then they could, within reason pick their reward. He hands over his snail number should you be interested enough to follow that up. He them saunters off after making several more comments that would, if Phil was an employee, prove a very strong basis for suing for harassment.

Taranis talks to several partybots. There has been a massive spike in courier work in the last week - around 500% but as short term memory is deleted after each mission they can€™t give any leads. However, a partybot called HALley might be able to help. Unfortunately, no one has seen her for two days. The last to see her was a very drunk Sir Chromalot, who says that she was going to a warehouse a few days ago (and gives a rough description) and that she was going to meet €œsome King or something€. From the sounds of it, HALley hates Chromalot.

The group however, finish their conversations and set off to leave. However, as they are outside the club they are approached by a female Satyr wearing a thick blue woolly jumper, but still shivering slightly at the cold. She seems to be asking everyone if they have seem HALley, as she is really worried about her. After telling her that you haven€™t seen HALley, she tells you that you believe she was heading to some kind of technology company warehouse. If this has anything to do with this King you don€™t know.

You€™ll agree you€™ll let her know if you see her, but at this point you end up heading back to your accommodation where you can all €œchange€ and go to bed.

DAY 3

After an early start, and a substantial buffet breakfast, Patricia heads out to the library to research her own origin while the others are still eating.

After arriving at the library (a huge snail like shell) and meating the librarian (a beagle in a suit) Patricia unearths the following information:

There is only one definite twice fallen - Lord Doomforall, who is further unique in that he is the only known being able to be able to traverse universes under his own power, albiet with only partial control of his destination (OOC: ala tardis). Interestingly, during the period he was ruling this world an unusual background energy was detected by a group called the Crystalline Monks of Qwi. It started high and gradually decayed over his reign to nothing. In all other circumstances connected with a possible twice-fallen this same energy spiked for a duration of 15 days before disappearing. There is also an unidentified energy spike within the last 20 years.

The seven other known presumed Twice fallen associated with these events are:
Ghortax, Ebonlise, Professor Vengeance, Ultimatrix 23, Roger the small brown terrier, Mirrorsong, Kethlutei

The Beagle then suggests that Patricia could go to The Honourable Guild of Mad and Dippy Scientists which is nearby to see if there is any of this energy present, thus indicating Patricia's possible origins. They are apparently harmless except to an individual called Snikwad Drahcir.

At Patricia's request, the Beagle also finds some books about the Mechanist -
the first seems to be about the mechanist via interviews with people whose lives have been changed by him
the second is a book detailing changes to the mechanist visually over the years
the third is more or less a straight but vague biography

There is also a book about the ten most powerful figures in Melded, listing: Panginoon, The Mechanist, The Ravager, Monsoir Butterfly, V, Ms Trundrebog, Hawksong, John Smith, Hyperion and, perhaps strangely, Atoom

There is also a book about the Mechanist's company: most interesting is that for an otherwise thorough book, it mentions AK frequently, but doesn't actually tell anything about them.

Lastly, the Beagle offers an odd piece of knowledge - names apparently have more meaning here because a rule of another univese fell. Essentially, look to names more to find information.

There's a few things in this Patricia feels need to be followed up - mainly the role of Doomforall and the precise nature of AK - and she also feels strongly that the issue of the Mechanist's sidekick (who is apparently working in the docks) needs to be followed up by someone sooner rather than later.

Also the number fifteen is cropping up far too much for my liking...

Time for the missing research of Patricia!

Reading books on the mechanist:
He hinted he was a faller, he first appeared 16 years ago, he debuted as a hero the day his company opened. His most spectacular clashes have been with V.

Mechanarium Interspacial is just registered to The Mechanist

He had two large public arguements, one with Panginoon and one with his sidekick. The sidekick one claimed that Mechanist was uncaring, the Panginoon arguement is forgotten except in concept, presumably as a result of Panginoon's powers. From this is can be presumed that Panginoon is magical or psychic rather than scientific, as even printed copies of what the arguement was have crumbled.

Patricia also realised that Panginoon was Tagalog/Phillipino for Lord or Master, and that Atoom was Afrikaans for Atom

Generally things - laws and orders etc, filter down from him, but there have been less things this year than usual.
The suggestion is that hes expanded his spy network. A large raven has been seen flying to and from his offices, tho its unknown where it goes

RavagerFinished the last year with a bang - a huge tentacled monstrocity was unleashed from the harbour but was defeated by the mechanist and several other heroes.
Monsoir Butterfly has had a quiet year, but he tends to go from unseen to one grandiose act before disappearing again, so he remains on the list

V has upped his legitimate business side of work with several major industrial companies owned by him being revealled to be completely clean, against all expectations. When asked to comment his answer implied that villainy was still a passion of his, but he owed it to his employees that their jobs wouldnt be compromised by his hobby. He has shares in a small luxury chocolate company, but not directly. He also implied that a new development of his would revolutionise melded and every other city on the planet.

Ms Trundrebog aka the Witch of Trundre Bog a celebrity psychologist - also a demon in the form of a little old lady. Has an extensive knowledge of herbalism and 3 TV shows. Just published her 431st book which is the 307th volume of her autobiography - each volume covering 30 years of her life. She also has enough psychic will that if you meet her gaze there is possibly literally no one who could break a command shes so good that 100% of people who ever watch her show go on to watch every single subsequent episode.

Hawksong griffon spellsinger-rockstar and literally the most popular entertainer in the world right now. While he has no direct psyhic powers his singing is capable of creating magic, even when just in recorded form - won great critical aclaim with his latest song which besides being musically acclaimed as innivotive' and 'ground breaking' by MeldedMusicMonthly or MMM literally summons a tiny fluffy kitten for the duration of the song whenever it is played thus winning him legions of adoring fans in the 12-14 female demographic.

John Smith is current mayor, and has a record for compromise and being moderate he is a genetically engineered being, designed to be the exact average of all beings in Melded he looks mostly human, but biologically he is not. He won his second election against his supposed newer version at the end of last year, of the regular reconstituted updated format version. Occassionally the old version wins due to robotic and energy being swing vote.

Hyperion is the most senior god residing in the cityhe is technically one of the most powerful beigns present but realistically he is more influential in that he heads numerous charitable organisations - the fact that he can threaten to stop the sun shining to get his way just happens to help that cause.

Atoom has had a long distinguished career in politics and has been responsible for getting many policies in place. She is also largely responsible for a new school of magic that has sprung up in the last 7 years - in her own words Shamanistic magic is a greatly under-researched area, it's been established that it works best controlling natural phenomenon like the weather, however, our research has shown that it can also be applied to radiation - the book notes that she is probably able to manipulate radiation on a gigantic scale, and that much of the cities power is provided by comparative novices in with magic form.

Also Researched POTENTIALLY INTERESTING PLACES FOR THOSE NEW TO THE MELDED AREA

Research suggests that the buildings on the island in the river are potentially the oldest still standing on the planet and possibly an artifact from the era of Doomforall.
The zoo holds creatures from many different universes including being where creatures too dangerous to be free are kept if they fall It also has a side building - St Xyphertracoli's home for the Cosmically Unhomed where beings from places with different atmospheres are looked after until devices to allow them into the rest of the world can be invented. Named after the Saint who killed Space-Satan with a trombone.
There is the museum of paradox whereby you can see artifact froms 1000 years in the future, from the perspective of 3000 years in the future
There is also the Spire of Crystal about in two cities over - a giganitc tower carved out of a single diamond that has no entrances but can be seen inside it goes up at least 5000m.

alright, Joey and I learned some things yesterday, from the top of my head...

There are three machines out there, one is a giant (massive, huge) battery owned by V, one is a mass manipulator that is stolen, a third one is a rift energy machine owned by AK. When combined, the three can spell disaster. Luckily, Joey and I called AK and they confirmed they still own the machine safe and sound.

It's deemed smart, at this point, to keep a very very close eye on the rift machine over at AK. What I'd suggest is to send Blotter there, with or without others, to explain the situation to AK and how vital it is that their machine does not fall in the wrong hands. If Kody is still inactive this week I'd say have Blotter stand guard at AK for Kody wanted Maurice to decide for Blotter for as long as he is inactive, the alternative for him would be to eat breakfast all day .
