In any ordinary case, the Thermite wouldn't have burned through the armour fast enough to stop the robot from cooling off on the Co2 vent, but Terrorhurtz's armour is polycarb, which is easy to burn through.
What's unfair about a robot succumbing to an arena hazard? I added that in there because nobody in all of FanFic had ever done it. Also, with the high-temperature titanium and Hardox alloys in use nowadays, the Thermite wouldn't burn a hole through the armour that easily. It's only effective against robots with either thin armour(3-3.5mm), or weak armour(Aluminum, Polycarbonate). It's not designed to be effective against most robots, it's designed to put in a new idea.
Yeah, but normally the hazards are confined to a specific area so you can use them as part of your tactics...if the pipes are all across the top then you have no way of avoiding them, effectively you can win or lose a fight completely based on luck or the whims of the fight writer. (and yes I know all fights are decided on the whims of the fight writer, but this really allows you to arbitrarily eliminate robots for no reason because it's so 'random')
I'm against them for the same reason I dislike overly powerful house robots - I don't really think the arena hazards should have the power to completely change fights on their own, they should be there to be used rather than cripple or eliminate robots because of one mistake.
Meh, this is all my opinion I just think using something that burns plastic and can effectively eliminate robots at random is unfair and I'm quite glad I'm not in this tourney.

A low and fast wedge shaped robot with a powerful front-hinged flipper. The machine is powered by Magmotors, but watch out, as the low ground clearance can cause maneuverability problems...
And our 2 house robots will again be the 2 deadly spinners Wunderbar and Cyclone.

And in comes Dr. Thwack, the more nippy of the two, getting around to the side of I.A.N and hitting the hardox shell twice. I.A.N retaliates by getting underneath the side skirt of Lian's machine and flips it over. Dr. Thwack quickly self-rights, however Jack is prepared, getting around to the back of the self-righting Dr. Thwack to where he lands on top of I.A.N. Jack flips Dr. Thwack back over, but Lian retaliates and self-rights again. But this time, instead of flipping Dr. Thwack back onto his topside, Jack runs forward to the wall, and flips just as Lian tries to get away...
FLIP!!!
Dr. Thwack isn't dead yet, as it hits I.A.N after escaping what could've been the end of the match. Once, twice, and thrice Lian hits the hardox shell of I.A.N, however no major damage has been caused, and did some Thermite drip on top of Dr. Thwack!?!? Yes it did, as the molten mixture attempts to melt through the top of Dr. Thwack. It's burned a hole through the top of Dr. Thwack, but before it immobilizes one of the motors, as it did to Terrorhurtz, Dr. Thwack reaches the Co2 vent, putting out the fire. Jack watches anxiously as Lian drives of the Co2 grill, and once again begins to attack I.A.N. It appears that something came loose in I.A.N. Probably the speed controller, which didn't look to be protected that well from shock damage. However, just for good measure, Dr. Thwack rams I.A.N into the drum on the side of the arena...
CRASH!!!
And that didn't do much, as the Guardian now counts out the still very well protected I.A.N...
1..2..3..4..5..6..7..8..9..10!!!
And before the house robots can interfere, Lian, being a good sport and all, presses the panel release button and shoves I.A.N onto the conveyor belts. Lian salutes Jack, as I.A.N falls into the pit.
And the winner, by knockout: Dr. Thwack!!!
Further investigation reveals that one of the wires connecting I.A.N's speed controller to the motors was loosely attached, and fell off after that powerful hammer blow of Dr. Thwack. Oh well, that's the usual case of why a robot loses, but at least Jack still has I.A.N in 1 piece for Christmas Crazy Bots...
Lian, on the other hand, needs to patch up the top of Dr. Thwack, which was majorly burned by the Thermite. Luckily, He pulls some hardox out of his pocket and repairs Dr. Thwack instantly.
I have returned! Sorry for the inactivity, I haven't been able to post for a while due to the fact that I had a lot of work to do in school.
Anyway, tactics for the next battle
Theseus has the better armour and more power, so it will mostly rely on its pushing power. Don't allow a chance to attack, be all over it like a pack of termites, and just flip it into the pit. Avoid the thermite at all costs.
And after a bit of waiting, it's time to put out a new battle.

And after it being damaged by Thermite, Dr. Thwack pulled off an upset against I.A.N, but can it pull one off again?

Theseus didn't need to do much, as the thermite melted Terrorhurtz in a rather questionable battle.
And our house robots will be Magnavox and Wunderbar.

Dr. Thwack moves forward almost instantly, hammering Theseus, as the skirts prevent Theseus' flipper from getting underneath. However, Theseus shoves Dr. Thwack into Magnavox's CPZ, as the flywheel of the big house robot comes down, not doing much damage to the top of Dr. Thwack. However, let's not forget that Lian had to replace the top panel, which had been melted through in the last match. Dr. Thwack escapes from the CPZ, as Theseus chases it, and presses the panel release button. Theseus tries to shove Dr. Thwack onto the barbed conveyor belt, but the skirts prevent the barbs from grabbing on. Dr. Thwack escapes, and tries to get under Theseus, but cannot. However, Theseus gets to the side, and pushes it into Wunderbar's CPZ...
CRASH!!!
And that's another piece of damage. the left skirt of Dr. Thwack has been completely torn off, but it's still hammering, as it hits the non-spinning Wunderbar. The house robot retreats farther into its CPZ, as Theseus gets underneath the area where the broken skirt was, and flips. Dr. Thwack self-rights, only to be flipped again by Theseus. Before it can self-right again, Dr. Thwack is pushed onto the barbed belts by Theseus. Dr. Thwack self-rights just before it is pulled into the bit by the belts.
CEASE!!!
