Re: A special Robot Wars Fan Fiction Anniversary

This is why you should consider shapes, armours, weapons, and strategies properly before writing battles. Otherwise, people will be displeased with you, and not just me.

    Incidentally, check this link: http://strickenone.proboards.com/index. ... thread=460

I'm giving people until tommorow for their tactics for Heat B

Re: A special Robot Wars Fan Fiction Anniversary

I read it, Kody. And I'm certain I just about broke every rule of made up Robot Wars realism and organising

So with that, I'm sorry to say this tournament is on hold, and probably will be until I feel up to writing again

Sorry to those who entered, but I don't feel in the mood for writing about Robot Wars anymore. I would have called this series 'Robot Wars Series Eight', to celebrate 12 years of Robot Wars

        Sorry again

Whoa whoa whoa, I didn't mean to scare you from ever writing fights, just wanted you to see how fights are properly written, that's all! You have the potential, we know that. You just have to apply it a little better.

          Sorry...

Seriously, Kody, you're right. I should go back to the drawing board and maybe stick to real robot competitions

                HEAT B
                ROUND 1
                1. Gravity VS X-Terminator
Hmm, another surprisingly even match-up. X-Terminator is well-skirted and could happily chew away at Gravity's armour, but it does have an unreliable srimech...

                Eh, Gravity for me.

                2. Macduff the 4th VS TSUNAMI
Why bother stacking you when I can just throw you over the fence, Kody?
Macduff is one tough cookie, but I believe my great manoueverability could help me win the day. Avoid the front prongs and instead focus my attacks on the sides - those protective spikes are ideal for my flipper to slip under. Drive right underneath Macduff, push it to the nearest wall or House Robot and FLIP! Repeat until it eats the ceiling (Or the House Bots eat it!) If the worst should happen and the flipper runs out of juice, open the Pit, attack the sides as before and try to push it down.

A Scotsman playing for Canada and a German playing for Scotland. Whatever next?

Re: A special Robot Wars Fan Fiction Anniversary

I suppose I'd better get on with it. I did put up a deadline for tactics

Welcome to Robot Wars! Last time, Typhoon II, the reigning champions, made it through to the grand final. Who will join them.

From Leeuwarden, in the Netherlands, Gravity!

They made it to the semi final last time with that powerful flipper. Its very sleek and fast, but the armour is thin and the Co2 supply is limited.

From Hereford, in Herefordshire, the number 3 seed, X-Terminator!

Grand finalists in the last wars, knocked out in the playoff. The spinning flywheel is a new weapon, and caused major damage last time, but its the slowest here at 9mph.

                    Roboteers, stand by!

                    B1: Gravity
                    B2: X-Terminator
House Robots: Dead Metal and Cassius Chrome

                    3-2-1: Activate!

X-Terminator needs to avoid that flipper of Gravity. We saw it last time, and they want to use it again. X-Terminator out of the way as Gravity comes in. Turning around to face the front of X-Terminator who backs away. Gravity is too fast and gets under! X-Terminator FLIPPED! Onto its side! It self-rights, but Gravity is waiting and FLIPS again! X-Terminator lands right side up this time. Turning around. If they can get at the side of Gravity, where the wheels are, they could puncture them and Gravity would be immobolised. The number 3 seeds on the backward step here, so far. They need to do some work to stop Gravity. Gravity comes in again with the flipper but goes up the front of X-Terminator instead. The disc clips the front of the flipper! Gravity almost turned over, but it flips itself down right onto the flywheel again! Damage caused, I think! Gravity manages to escape, but X-Terminator now beginning to get down to business. I think part of the flipper is bent from the earlier attack by X-Terminator, but nothing major. X-Terminator gives chase. Gravity over the flame pit, now it turns around to get under X-Terminator and push it towards the CPZs, or down the pit maybe. X-Terminator comes forward and Gravity charges in. It gets under and FLIPS X-Terminator onto its side again! Now it pushes X-Terminator around towards the wall! Can they get the third seeds out! Can they cause an upset? X-Terminator self rights, but lands on the wall! They are in trouble! Gravity waits, now gets under! NO! They didn't get X-Terminator out, but X-Terminator back on its side! The disc spins, but it isn't doing anything here. They self-right again, back onto the ground. Turning around to face Gravity who is unrelenting in its attacks and OH! They went up the front again and this time something came flying off Gravity! The impact flipped them over, but they self-right! It hits the disc again! Sparks fly! Gravity once again overturned, but self-rights. X-Terminator crashes into them and pushes them towards the top of the arena! The disc is ripping into the underbelly of Gravity, is it causing damage, I don't know. Towards Dead Metal goes Gravity! Gravity is in the claws and the saw comes in onto the thin armour! They were on top at the beginning, Gravity, but not now. Dead Metal lets them go. X-Terminator waits though and HITS Gravity in the side. A piece of armour came flying off! That leaves one of the wheels exposed! Gravity turns to flip, but the end of the flipper is badly bent. The last ten seconds count down. A very close fight. X-Terminator draws Gravity up its scoop again and causing havoc to the flipper with that spinning disc. Gravity backs away and turns to get around the side, but X-Terminator counters it.

                    Cease!

What a fight. Both robots are still mobile. The judges will make their decision, based on Style, Control, Damage and Aggression.

                    Gravity: S: 2 C: 2 D: 1 A: 3 Total: 8

                    X-Terminator: S: 2 C: 2 D: 3 A: 3 Total: 10

The judges have made their decision.
                    They've gone for X-Terminator!

Next up, Macduff the 4th and Tsunami. Who will get washed away? Find out later!

Without any tactics, I considered the robots and their pros and cons. I don't think it helped me a lot, so feel free to point out anything that shouldn't have been

That's probably the best battle I have seen you write, good work Elliot.

I think Tsunami will win the next battle.

Right, since many people think I'm gonna be thrown OOTA, I have additional tactics. I'll stay in the middle of the arena, and try to drive off of Tsunami's wedge if he's wedged me at all.

                        Counter that. :P

                            Welcome back.

                            BATTLE TWO

From Toronto, in Canada, MacDuff the 4th!

A box with six wheels, 30mph top speeds and interchangable weapons including lifting forks, and a flipper. Its invertible, but the wheels are exposed and how effective are its weapons?

                            From Bavaria, in Germany, Tsunami!

Heat finalists in the last series. They have a Co2 powered flipper that can throw anything out of the arena. Its fast and manouvrable, but the armour is weak.

                            Roboteers, stand by!

                            B1: Macduff the 4th
                            B2: Tsunami
                            House Robots: Matilda and Shunt

                            3-2-1: Activate!

The newcomers, Macduff the 4th, are up against a very powerful machine, but will that stop them. They have the lifting forks for this match, and are skirting around the side of Tsunami, waiting for a moment to strike...but Tsunami gets there first! Flipping Macduff the 4th over! Macduff the 4th is invertible, so that won't stop it. They charge again and this time get the forks right under Tsunami and push it towards the CPZ! Shunt is waiting and he brings his axe down onto Tsunami, who tries to flip him over! Shunt won't be happy. Macduff the 4th backs away as Tsunami escapes the CPZ. Can they get the forks under again and push them into the pit? Tsunami turns towards the side of Macuff the 4th and flips, but Macduff turns itself to get the forks under once again and roll Tsunami over! Tsunami self-rights. It turns to face Macduff the 4th again, who charges. Tsunami swerves to get under the 15mm ground clearance, but Macduff the 4th too clever for it and sneaks under again! Pushing them this time into Matilda's CPZ! We've seen what that flywheel can do earlier on in the series, so Tsunami...OH! They got hit by Matilda's flywheel and were sent tumbling out of the CPZ! They self-right and come on the attack again. Macduff the 4th presses the pit release button. All it needs to do is get under Tsunami and push it down. Tsunami needs to be aware, though, and it is as it rams Macduff the 4th from the side and FLIPS! Macduff the 4th recovers and tries to get its forks under again. Tsunami slips around the side again, but Macduff the 4th turns and does get under this time. Pushing Tsunami towards the pit! Tsunami flips, but down they go! In a puff of smoke! Macduff the 4th go through to the heat final!

                            Cease!

                            Tsunami gets washed away!
Macduff the 4th go through to the heat final!

                            The heat final lineup is

                            X-Terminator VS Macduff the 4th

But first, the Middleweight Melee. Six middleweights, only one can survive.

                            See you later
