Re: Would You Fight the Person Above You's Vapour in the Arena?
Actually not. It is possible for you to not want to face a robot, if not because you don't want your bot permanently destroyed, because you have a feeling that you're going to lose. (Eg: Mass Disctruction Ultimate 4.1 vs Cassius II)

Re: Would You Fight the Person Above You's Vapour in the Arena?
Well it's actually all to do with the way the series has evolved. It all spawns from the robot Disctruction, followed by Mass Desctruction (1/2/3) which all has various rounds of success (D winnning VFT2, MD finishing 4th?). Mass Destruction Ultimate (slight pun on Phrisbee Ultimate) was my solution to upping the ante, build a 200kg walker, hide it's main weakness by giving it a 360 degree offence and defence. It worked on simple terms of brute force, with 200kg, even when spending 40kg on a walking system left 160kg to build a huge weapon. It was hard for most 100kg machines to compete with and it managed to get a few wins from being the biggest kid in the playground.Originally posted by corsair_lightningIt has? Then why have you kept it, seeing as the design slowly degraded from winning 3 championships to not winning anything now? And when will we see either MDU4.2, MDU4.5, or MDU5?
Eventually walkers regulated and it was time to come up with something new. MDU 2 never left paper due to the walker thing, MDU3 was the solution, 100kg of pure weapon. All 3.x versions are just me fiddling with the internals and combinations of stuff. 4.x really should have just stayed a revision of 3.x but yeah... Really MDU and MDU 3 should have been a separate series but I guess I just wanted to continue the legacy. There were also a few splinters to the names, like Mass Destruction eXtreme (MDX) and Mass Destruction Revolution (MDR) which never took off. I should have given MDU3/4 the MDR name really, but can't remember why i didn;t
(too much booze?!)
There hasn't been any upgrades or evolutions from MDU3/4 because I've had very little interest in fanfic for a rather long time and I just half ass most of the upgrades. I'm more interested in working on the real thing these days, Melty Brain eXperiment (MBX) is my MDU3 in the making, which has also brought a lot more understanding to myself of the real needs and issues with such a design as the translational spinner. Having seen the problems first hand, I've got solutions that I want to try out, but building the real thing takes time and I've yet to complete it how I want it (Unlike a vapour where I can cook up the info in 30mins). Maybe an MDU5 will roll out some day, maybe not. Maybe it will roll out under a new name?
Maybe I'll just keep building the real thing.

Re: Would You Fight the Person Above You's Vapour in the Arena?
And how, which is a point Andy already, rightfully, seemed to put forward, can a vapourbot be permanently destroyed? No matter what MDU, which seems to be the favoured example here, sorry Aaron, does to my beloved robot in tournament A, it can always continue to fight on in tournament B as if nothing happened. The worst thing that could happen is that I lose, which is what also happens if I decide not to fight :POriginally posted by corsair_lightningActually not.
