Only if by 'interesting articles' you mean whiny, ill-informed and pompous right wing articles with a hint of xenophobia.

I prefer the Guardian myself, even with its typos and wall charts. I just like Charlie Brooker. :P

            Anyways, final time!

HEAT D - THE STORY SO FAR:
            ROUND 1
EYE OF RAN II & ORKA R.V. won their battle when Eye of Ran obliterated Skullcrusher and the Orka threw Autoism 3.0 out of the arena!
DISCO 5 & INTRIGUOUS won their battle when Kody's machine pitted Bloody Frigid and Hacked-Off Haka lost a judges decision, 40 & 41.5 - 34.5 respectively.

            ROUND 2
INTRIGUOUS grappled and pitted Eye of Ran II
DISCO 5 won a furiously flipper frenzy with Orka R.V., which saw the whale diving into the Void!

            And now...

            HEAT D
            ROUND 3
            HEAT FINAL
            DISCO 5 Vs INTRIGUOUS

House Robots - Scarlek & Scream

            Roboteers, stand by...
            3...2...1...
            ACTIVATE!

Intriguous' excellent acceleration gets it off to a flying start, but Disco 5 narrowly avoids a head-on collision! Martyn attempts to get under Intriguous' sides, Kody trying likewise to bring his axe into play! The duo dance-off until Intriguous shunts into Disco's left-hand side! Down comes the axe, once and twice! Martyn isn't about to take this lying down and he turns Disco around sharply to reveal the spinning rear flywheel...
            CRRRASH!
Intriguous bounces off the floor, nearly getting flipped over from the blow! We're only a few seconds into this battle and already our Finalists are battle-scarred! Disco swoops in underneath the stunned Intriguous and pushes the Canadian competitor across the arena! Kody attempts an escape but Disco powers on and fires its flipper! Intriguous finds itself propped against the arena wall, though one flick of the axe pushes it back onto its wheels! Disco dives back in for another assault, but Intriguous blocks the veteran off with its front scoop! The axe snaps down on Disco's sloping body, putting a third dint in the titanium monocoque shell! This time Intriguous keeps the hammer down, attempting to grapple and push Disco into the nearest hazard! Martyn isn't about to let Kody lead this dance however, as Disco pushes back hard! Talk about an unstoppable force meeting an unmovable object! The shoving match appears to be a stalemate, until Disco turns around, revealing the rear flywheel back up to speed! Intriguous attempts to avoid the blow, but...
            CRRRASH!
The collision knocks Intriguous back, adding another scar to the gruesome green paintwork! Kody should count himself lucky that his axe didn't get hit as well! Disco turns to resume the shoving match, but Intriguous proves too quick! The Canadian competitor charges into Disco's side, scraping its scoop under the side-skirts! Martyn attempts to get away, but down comes the axe, pinning Disco in place! Intriguous pours on the push and begins shoving the PTT veteran down across the arena, Disco vainly struggling all the while! Deciding Martyn deserves a taste of his own medicine, Kody guides Intriguous down towards Killeidascope Corner! Disco continues its flailing, even firing the flipper a couple of times, but it's not enough...
            CRRRASH!
Disco is thrown aside by the enormous psychadelic drum, finding itself perilously close to Scream's CPZ! One side of his armour partially shredded by the arena spinner, Martyn decides to make haste and retreat to the middle of the ring, but Intriguous blocks it off by charging into its rear, stopping the titular disc dead before it can reach a deadly-enough speed! Intriguous digs its wheels in and pushes Disco straight into Scream's own rear flywheel, nearly up-ending the veteran on impact! As Intriguous backs away Scream spins around to play, sweeping Disco into his corner and scraping under its skirts! Martyn can only watch helplessly as Disco is catapulted into the air by the House Robot's frightening flipper, accompanied by his trademark shriek of terror! Luckily for Martyn, Disco remains within the arena but comes back down to earth with a terrible clatter near the arena centre! By now Disco is starting to look rather dazed and confused, and that's not Martyn's only problem - the blare of an echoing siren reveals that Intriguous has gone and opened the Void!
Martyn revs up his flywheel and readies himself for a charge attack, but Disco is looking a little less lively than before! Our two competitors meet head-to-head, and it looks as though Intriguous is getting the upper hand! Disco turns to bring in the spinner, but it isn't quite up to speed! Intriguous barges into the disc, stopping it completely and taking a small slash in the paintwork for its troubles! Disco makes to turn back round for a frontal assault, but Intriguous powers under the rear flywheel and attempts to grapple the veteran with its axe! It appears the shoving match is in full swing again, but this time it's no stalemate! Despite Martyn's best efforts, Intriguous gradually forces Disco down the arena towards the gaping jaws of the Void! Disco barely manages to wriggle free as they near the corner zone, but Kody isn't about to let the last place in the Grand Final slip through his fingers! Intriguous blocks Disco off, scraping under the right-hand skirt and punching the wedge's lid with its axe! With one last heave Disco boogies over the edge of the Void and out of sight! Kody reverses, cheering wildly and hammering the ground for no particular reason! We have our final Finalist - and its name is Intriguous!

            CEASE!

Disco 5 has suffered a terminal case of Saturday Night Fever - well, Tuesday Night Fever to get technical. Ah, just beat it, will ya?
INTRIGUOUS GOES THROUGH TO THE GRAND FINAL!

            Congratulations to Mr Kody Kunz!

            -------------------------------------------------

            NEXT TIME:
            THE P.T.T. REGENERATION GRAND FINAL
            - NIDHOGG EVO
            - THE CRASHING BORE 2
            - ACHILLES (1)
            - INTRIGUOUS

So at last, after nearly six months of long, grueling waits (and the occasional fight) we have our four Finalists. I'll slap up the draw and the Road to Armageddon in a couple days, so until then, feel free to wing me your thoughts on the series thus far and get yourselves prepped for a Final to remember - for a week or two, at any rate.

It's not entirely been too bad overall few delays here and there but the perseverance has been worth it, the ol' PTT writing is as excellent as ever.

Also I found a Sun board game in a charity shop today, I couldn't believe such an item had ever existed so I had to get it!

Jolly good show Steve, ol' bean. The other finalists look absolutely terrifying, but I'll burn that bridge when it comes. Wooty stuff!

Well, here we are. It may have taken nearly half a year, but we've finally made it - the PTTR Grand Final. It's been a hell of a journey and one tough mother' of a tourney to write. I can honestly say that this is the most difficult tournament I have ever had to judge and it's all down to the ludicrously high standard of the robots that have been entered. Before I unveil the Grand Final draw, let us pay tribute to the sixteen schmucks who offered up their creations to be battered and broken into tiny pieces. Chaos bless each and every one of them.

                  15. Innis (Tracy Farber)
                  16. Werewolf (Liam Eliot)

32 Heavyweights came to play, but now only four remain. Let us relive the journey thus far as we wind our merry way towards the Final down...

                  THE P.T.T.R. ROAD TO ARMAGEDDON

HEAT A kicked off proceedings with a clash of old and new, as Raging Tempest and Gehenna, the youngest Son of Ripper, went head-to-head with Eurypterus Evolved and Kill Saw. The new Tempest fought bravely, but its bouncy nature proved its undoing as Eurypterus dumped it into the Void; and despite its unique weaponry, Kill Saw soon joined it! In our other melee, Leprosy Infection coughed and spluttered out of its second war, falling completely to pieces courtesy of terrifying newcomer Propane Nightmare! The newbie also ensured that Mobile Failure failed to make a lasting impression, with a little help from Nidhogg Evo and Killeidascope Corner.
Round 2's first scrap was short and sweet, with Nidhogg Evo swiftly grappling and pitting Eurypterus Evolved. The second battle, however, proved a truly thrilling affair, as Gehenna and Propane Nightmare fought to the bitter end, surviving to a judge's decision. It was a close contest, but Damage and Strategy won the day for Propane Nightmare, winning on a 39-37.5 decision.
In the Heat Final, Nidhogg Evo and Propane Nightmare met again and, while it was touch-and-go with Nidhogg for a while, the dragon soon ended the Welsh bot's dreams with an impressive pitting. Nidhogg soared into the Grand Final - and Dulcy found herself a new pin-up!

The opening fight of HEAT B could arguably be described as the 'Melee of Doom', with Apocalypse, Dervish, Tengu and Under Pressure. While Dervish's new spinning blade looked ferocious, the 1337 Generation proved no match for Apocalypse's flipper; and neither did Under Pressure for that matter! Apocalypse sailed through, along with a slightly confused Tengu VII. Melee number two was just as vicious, with the granddaddy of vapourbots, the Crashing Bore 2, showing off its upgraded guillotine! Aussie spinner Nerix helped it make light work of the Kill Point, before the Bore dumped Fissure into our arena's own monstrous crack!
Round 2 opened with a clash of the titans, as Tengu VII met the Crashing Bore 2! Both robots are highly experienced and as deadly as they come, but it was the Bore's blade that one the day, while the PTT3 runner-up was banished to the depths of the Void! The newcomers put on a hell of a show too, as Apocalypse faced off against Nerix. Despite a destructive debut in its melee, Nerix soon found itself dazed and confused on the camera track. Rack up another OOTA for Apocalypse!
The Heat Final was quite literally a battle for the ages, as one of the oldest vapourbots met one of the most up-to-date. Apocalypse and the Crashing Bore 2 fought long and hard, with the scrap eventually boiling down to a narrow judge's decision. In the end, experience won the day and the Bore claimed a 34.5-31.5 victory. Frank's newest upgrade is making waves this season and no mistake!

HEAT C saw the return of our glorious reigning champion Achilles, who quickly proved its hypothetical conquest of PTT5 was not without reason. After the similar Seung Mina V tossed Flank Attack: D.T. out of the arena, Achilles proved the original is always the best. Aided by Nitro-Gene 5.0, the champ stormed into round two, while Seung Mina stumbled into the Void! The second melee showed a truly diverse range of robots, from the terrifying Infusion to the towering B.I.A.C.S-is of Evolution! The newest Bull in a China Shop was innovative, if not too effective; The Deer soon herded it into the arena pen, before its antlers were clipped by Back to Rock III propping it against the western wall! Not a good day for the animal kingdom, all in all.
Back to Rock III was back in action in our opening semi-final against Nitro-Gene 5.0. Here, Nitro-Gene showed us what it could really do, outpushing the Dutch veteran and eventually throwing it clean out of the arena! Meanwhile Achilles had its hands full defending its title against Infusion. The newcomer proved a serious match for the champ, but even its unique 'turbo boost' ability couldn't save it from the Void. Hail the conquering hero!
The Heat Final saw Achilles and Nitro-Gene 5.0 clash for a second time. After a series of thrills and spills, flips and rips (the latter provided by a tempestuous Surligig), Achilles eventually won the day with its third successive pitting. Will the PTT see its first ever two-time champion? We'll find out soon enough.

HEAT D rounded off our contest in spectacular style, with the return of Chris Mason's awesome Orka! A Heat Finalist in the last war, the new Orka R.V. had a whale of a time throwing robots left, right and centre, even catapulting the Big Nipper-esque Autoism 3.0 clean out of the warzone! Newcomer Skullcrusher was sadly unable to see this - as it had already been torn to pieces by fellow newbie Eye of Ran II! The Eye and the Orka went through, while Skullcrusher went into orbit (I love our launchpad). The series' final melee was chaos personified, as veterans Disco 5 and Hacked-Off Haka squared off against Bloody Frigid and Intriguous. Bloody Frigid was soon sunk by Intriguous, leaving the three remaining robots to fight on to a judge's decision. Haka fell short with 34.5 points, while Disco and Intriguous won out with 40 and 34.5 respectively.
Round 2 open with newcomer against newcomer, Eye of Ran II against Intriguous. In a short but frantic face-off Intriguous managed to grapple and pit the bladed bot - but not without taking a couple of scars in the process! The second semi-final was flipping fantastic as Orka R.V. tried to eject Disco 5 from the dancefloor. Disco's titular weapon soon gave it the upper hand however and it wasn't long before the Orka was swallowed up by the Void!
And so to our final Heat Final, a rematch between Disco 5 and Intriguous. At first it seemed that Disco's flywheel would make this a brief encounter but Intriguous came back strong to eventually grapple 'n' pit the PTT veteran. This newcomer will make an intriguing finalist indeed...

So, four Heats, six months and twenty battles later, we have our four Finalists:

                  1) Newcomer NIDHOGG EVO (Joey McConnell)
                  2) Four-time veteran THE CRASHING BORE 2 (Frank Goacher)
                  3) PTT reigning champion ACHILLES (1) (Alex Holt)
                  4) Newcomer INTRIGUOUS (Kody Kunz)

                  -------------------------------------------------

And now the moment you've been waiting for - the last draw.

                  P.T.T.R. GRAND FINAL
                  ELIMINATORS
                  Achilles (1) VS Nidhogg Evo
Intriguous VS The Crashing Bore 2

                  Thoughts? Tactics? Last-minute prayers?

                  Thank you.

                    Oh...arse.

                    NIDHOGG EVO'S TACTICS

Use the fact the wheels are in the front to maneuver out of the way of Achilles' charges, get the forks in underneath the front side - where there are no skirts - or under the side skirts and the body of Achilles, lift the lifter, bring the claw down to gain complete control over it, drive to the pit and dump it down. No messing - these are pure Tiberius get it over with and win tactics, if Tiberius had ever posessed a lifting device.

Best of luck Alex, may the best fictional mythologically named machine win.

You had me thrilled from the get-go of that post, Steve-O.

                      Achilles (1) vs. Nidhogg Evo

Tough to say, but Achilles' weakish armour here might prove its downfall as Nidhogg chews into it. I'll go with Joey to win here.

Intriguous vs. The Crashing Bore 2

Ah yes, Mr. Oldest Vapourbot ever. My, how you've grown. And such toys...

                      Okay I'm done.

Frank's machine has an appalling width. 40cm? That's going to make turning around a huge problem, especially with 4WD. I have double that width, so I can easily outmanoeuvre him. However, all the other things about Crashing Bore 2 are quite good. The more powerful trap, the more powerful drill, the Hardox armour, the wedge, and the skirting. So...what I'm going to do here is, like I did to Disco, take advantage of the crappy turning/manoeuvrability, and try to grapple him and ram him down the pit. I'm confident I can do so. My hinged wedge is heavier than the side skirts so I think I can get under those. If I can't, then give him a huge whack of the axe. Even with his monocoque my axe should do some good damage to it. He's a bit more powerful than me, so I don't want to get caught in a push/shove competition. If I do, just back off (whack him if he's in range).

Just get to those sides, grapple'n'pit or whack until dead. Or if a house robot is nearby, feed the Bore to it.

Good luck-o, Frank, and a great 'well done' to Steve and the other competitors thus far.

                        Let's have a look - 2 wheel drive, hydraulic sri-mech, steepish front.

Pnuematic setup time, drive in and carry on flipping in constantly, don't allow it to self right of its own accord. Aim to flip it somewhere that'l be beneficial to me rather than just anywhere.

Two very tough fights to call here. I think I€™m going to pick Achilles and Intriguous to meet in the final. Both of these battles should be close and could go all the way to the judges. Good luck to all involved, especially Steve who has done a great job picking the winners in such a high quality tournament.

Wow, not been around in ages. Glad to see things are still kicking around here, it's been a great tourney to catch up on Steve

Intriguous looks like a tough opponant, and while his manoueverability is better... It kinda has to be. Reason being, my static wedge is going to be heavier and sturdier than his hinged wedge, so a head on box rush should let me get under easily. Not only that, but the width of my trap means hitting is a surer bet, and once I've hit him I can tighten in the grip to ensure he doesn't get awya that easily.

The main objective is to lift him up and drop him into the house robots enough to soften him up enough to pit him.

Good luck to everyone else, looking forward to a fantastic pun filled finale

                              Achilles (1) VS Nidhogg Evo

Achilles has the much better chances during this battle. Achilles to find an opening and OOTA the crusher.

Intriguous VS The Crashing Bore 2

Good Lord... One of the oldest vapourbots still in existence vs a robot who's versions have only lost in VRW. Intriguous to finally put an end to TCB2. Frank, you might want to get ready to make The Crashing Bore 3, cause this fight won't be pretty.

Before we get started, I'd just like to inform everybody that I'll be handing out additional awards at the end of the series as per. One of these awards will be for Best Battle, which I'd like you good folks to vote on yourselves. Simply pick your favourite fight of the series thus far and the one with the most votes will mean a nice, shiny, non-existant trophy for its participants. So take a look back through the thread after you're done here and get nominating!

Oh, and no voting for your own fights, please.

For the moment, however, what's say we get this party started?

                                BATTLE 1
                                ACHILLES (1) Vs NIDHOGG EVO

FROM GEDDINGTON, IN NORTHAMPTONSHIRE, SEEDED NO.1 AND REIGNING CHAMPION, ACHILLES!
                                (Represented by Alex Holt)
Hail the conquering hero! Upgraded since its hypothetical domination of PTT5, Achilles is back again to defend its title and prove its victory was no accident. The champ remains a toughened box-wedge with skirts and a rounded rear, only it is now lower and more compact, with the wedge also rounded to help deflect spinners. The weaponry remains unchanged - a rear-hinged flipping arm with two different set-ups, hydraulic or pneumatic. The hydraulic mechanism includes a small crushing claw to grapple opponents and uses a Vivoil pump to tip up to 400kg with ease. The pneumatic mechanism includes a small T-shaped bar as an additional srimech and uses a CO2 canister running at 1000psi for high-powered hurling. Throw in two Eteks running at 48v, a skid-steer system for the four wheels and a mixture of titanium and polyurethane rubber armouring and it appears Alex has got the makings of greatness all over again. The lack of damaging weaponry has cost it dearly before, though, and high top speeds of 18mph could well be Achilles' Achilles' heel.
IN PTT3: pitted by Tornado in the second round
IN PTT4: lost its Heat Final to the Crashing Bore in a ridiculously tight 28.5-28 decision.
IN PTT5: series champion, defeating the likes of Voltronic, Spawn Again, Automatic Schmuck, MDU3 and Hell Machine.

For this fight, Achilles will be using its pneumatic set-up for the flipper.

FROM PONTEFRACT, IN YORKSHIRE, NIDHOGG EVO!
                                (Represented by Joey McConnell)
Named after the Nordic dragon who eats the roots of the World Tree, Nidhogg is eager to burninate anyone who dares to cross its path and live up to its success in Robot SMASH!! and last year's Vapourbot Awards. This latest incarnation is a low-slung wedge with sloping sides, a rollover top and glowing LED eyes - rather like Lightning and M2's unholy lovechild. The main weapons are a pair of front spikes, a hydraulic lifting plate on the wedge, able to lift about a tonne with relative ease, and a spiny 3000psi crushing arm with fifteen tonnes of force at the very tip. Razer, eat your motors out! Nidhogg is a surprisingly nimble beast with its two Vulkalon-tyred wheels mounted in the middle for great manoueverability, while its 3.2mm Hardox shell (with a dash of polycarbonate and titanium thrown in for good measure) mean that slaying this dragon will take a lot of work. However, its roly-poly srimech could prove sluggish in practice and the 15-20mph top speeds, combined with its high manoueverability, could result in control issues. Will Nidhogg fly high or crash and burn?

And our Grand Final Heat is officially underway as Achilles and Nidhogg Evo spring to life! Joey is clearly angling for a quick assault on the veteran's side, but Alex's machine isn't the champ for nothing! As Nidhogg swoops in, Achilles swings around, blocking its attack and scraping the huge flipping arm underneath the 10mm ground clearance! In a flash Nidhogg is thrown onto its back - and thankfully rolls right back onto its wheels! Joey barely gets to let out a sigh of relief however when Achilles darts back underneath his machine and begins pushing it across the arena! Nidhogg quickly manouevers off of the flipper plate, narrowly avoiding a second trip to Topsy-Turvy Town! Alex resets the flipper and keeps Achilles close on Nidhogg's scaly tail. For now the two Finalists are playing cautiously, carefully sizing each other up, planning their next attacks. You could cut the tension with a daffodil in this warzone tonight, let me tell you. At last Achilles decides to kick things into high gear with an attack on Nidhogg's side! Joey has started to back away when the flipper throws his creation over a second time! Nidhogg tumbles onto its back, somersaulting impressively in the process, but has barely rolled upright again when Achilles barges back into it! Another flip sends Nidhogg tumbling across the arena, Achilles hot on its heels! The roly-poly design works its magic once more, but the dragon is now worringly close to the northern arena wall, and here comes Achilles and try and chuck it over! Nidhogg does its best to fend off the champion, but Achilles has it tightly cornered up against the barrier! Both robots struggle hard, each trying to get undernearth the other! Alex thinks he spies an opening and quickly fires his flipper, but has missed Nidhogg by the narrowest of margins! Joey immediately takes advantage and scrapes his front prongs under Achilles' skirting! Up goes the lifter - and down goes the crusher!
The tables appear to have turned as Nidhogg's mighty claw clamps down on Achilles' armour, but the great Greek warrior is far from finished yet! Alex is hurridly twiddling his control sticks, attempting to shake himself free of Nidhogg's grip! At the least he's certainly slowing the dragon down, as Joey gradually makes his way towards the Void Activation Button! Suddenly both bots jerk as Achilles fires its flipper, the large arm free of the claw's clutches! Nidhogg fights to maintain control but finds its grip weakened as it pushes Achilles into the Button! The all-too familiar sires blares over the battlefield as Achilles lurches off of Nidhogg's wedge and finally escapes the crushing arm! Nidhogg twirls around to persue, but Achilles is two steps ahead of it! The reigning champion crashes head-on into the newcomer and pushes the deadly dragon back into the Button, riding back up the wedge in the process! Achilles quickly backs off as Joey reactivates the claw and charges Nidhogg again, this time scraping under the right-hand side! The flipper tosses Nidhogg over, very nearly sending it straight over the fence! Joey can't help but fret as Achilles attacks again and again! There's barely enough room in that CPZ right now to swing a cat, let alone roll yourself upright in good time! It look as though Nidhogg is on the ropes as Achilles barges the bot for the umpteenth time! The flipper fires once again, sending Nidhogg up, over...and on top of the Button! Don't think you can hide up there, Mr McConnell! The laws of physics send Nidhogg rolling back into the arena - and straight onto Achilles' flipper! With one last burst of CO2 the Nordic dragon soars over the arena wall and out of the Grand Final! Achilles reverses back to the arena centre and spins gleefully to the crowd's delight! The champ has already survived longer than any previous PTT winner - can it go all the way again?

                                CEASE!

Nidhogg Evo has crashed and burned - but don't take flight just yet, Joey! We'll need your firey friend for the Play-Off later.
ACHILLES (1) GOES THROUGH TO THE GRAND FINAL!

                                ELIMINATORS
                                BATTLE 2
INTRIGUOUS Vs THE CRASHING BORE 2

                                FROM ETOBICOKE, IN CANADA, INTRIGUOUS!
                                (Represented by Kody Kunz)
Eye of the Robot 4 grand champion, winner of the Best Axe trophy at last year's Vapourbot Awards - this is an intriguing newcomer and no mistake. Intriguous is a crafty customer with a long, low profile, a green and black motif, and a pneumatic axe ready to knock you six ways from Sunday! Using a system similar to Battlebots superheavyweight The Judge, the axe operates via a huge 225mm stroke/200mm bore ram and two custom-built CO2 tanks weighing 2.5kg. This provides power for 15 full-pressure shots, able to leave a dent in even the thickest armour! Intriguous is a tough cookie itself with 4mm Hardox monocoque armour and skirts and scoops for added protection. It's a capable rammer to boot with two LEM-130 Lynch motors providing high acceleration and top speeds of 12mph. It's invertible too, but this leaves its four wheels open to fellow axes and it'll be intriguing to see how Kody will cope once the axe runs out of juice...

FROM GAINSBOROUGH, THE CRASHING BORE 2!
                                (Represented by Frank Goacher)
Back for a fourth PTT after a recent upgrade, the Crashing Bore 2 is showing no signs of slowing down in spite of its age. The oldest competing vapourbot has changed little in terms of design over the years and this latest incarnation stays true to Frank's winning formula. A skirted box with dusty red paint, the Bore is armed with three distinctive weapons; a front lifting wedge powered by a linear actuator, a drill hidden within said wedge and, of course, the jagged, Mousetrap-style guillotine, powered by two LEM-130s. The idea of this weapons synergy is to 'snap and trap'. A robot drives onto the wedge, the trap grapples them, the wedge rises and the drill pokes out to skewer their underbelly. Poetry in motion. The former NSBFL champ is also a competant rammer, with a mixture of Hardox and titanium armour and plenty of push from the two LEMs. Its manoueverability could be improved, however, and if a flipper gets past the skirts to the 20mm ground clearance, the Crashing Bore could go crashing out again.
IN PTT3: (as The Crashing Bore): snapped up a place in the Semi-Finals, beating former champ Beta, but lost out to the Business Ends in the second round
IN PTT4: (as The Crashing Bore): beat Achilles to make the Semis again, this time flung out the ring by SpinVerter 3 in the first round
IN PTT5: (as The Crashing Bore): rammed, slammed and pitted by Manic Monsoon in its Heat Final

Intriguous is off to a flying start, thanks to its excellent acceleration! The Crashing Bore 2 charges the newcomer head-on, but Kody swerves round to avoid the hefty front wedge! Intriguous barges into the Bore's side and drives under the titanium skirting before Frank can retaliate! It's full steam ahead for Kody as Intriguous effortlessly pushes the Bore down the arena and into the CPZ where the Void lies dormant! Lucky for you he hasn't opened yet, Frank m'lad! Intriguous slams the Bore into the corner and lands a powerful blow with the axe, before proceding to rough up the PTT veteran like the biggest bully in the playground! The Crashing Bore is no gangly third-year geek however and quickly turns itself around, sending the charging Intriguous up onto its wedge! The 'trap snaps in the blink of an eye, snaring the Canadian competitor as it tries to get away! Now it's the Bore's turn to do the pushing as the PTT veteran shoves Intriguous out of the CPZ and back into the arena! Frank has just activated the front lifting wedge when Intriguous begins to fight back with a flick of its axe! Kody struggles with the controls, causing his machine to dart off of the wedge and out of the Bore's grip! Intriguous barges the Bore as payback before outright ignoring its opponent and running away to the top end of the arena, clearly aiming for the Void Button! The Bore tries to keep up but Intriguous is simply too nimble for the old hand! Kody reaches the Button in double-quick time and crashes into it like an arrow on target! The air-raid siren roars into life as the Bore gallops onto the scene, bumping Intriguous as it reverses out of the corner! Intriguous spins and tries to get around the Bore's side! Frank attempts to block, narrowly missing its opponent with a swing of the guillotine, but the quicker Intriguous is leading it on a merry dance! Kody quickly puts an end to the festivities by scraping under the Bore's skirted side and pushing it across to the opposite end of the warzone, where Fawkes sits on edge in his CPZ! The House Robot spreads his wings wide as Intriguous thrusts the Bore into his loving embrace! The hydraulic crushing wings immediately get to work, grabbing the Bore's behind and squeezing the Hardox monocoque shell with all its might! To make matters worse, here comes the poison-tipped beak to make things worse! Frank fires the guillotine in frustration, just as Fawkes' beak attempts to pierce through the Bore's head! Kody decides he wants to join in the fun too and gives the Bore a couple of blows with his axe! Hardox is strong stuff however and Fawkes appears to be having a hard time penetrating the Bore's shell! The House Robot slackens its grip to attack another spot, allowing Frank to bolt out of the mighty phoenix's corner and straight down the arena, Intriguous hot on its heels!
Our two competitors meet up again in the centre of the ring! The Bore is sporting some nasty dings after its hug from Fawkes, but is still very much in the game as it swings round for an attack, but Intriguous is still too light on its wheels! Frank snaps the 'trap, landing only a glancing blow on Intriguous as they skitter back and forth! The dancing continues for a few moments until Kody manages to bop the Bore's head with his axe! Frank fires the guillotine - and would you believe it? Both weapons have become locked together! The dance-off has turned into a tug-of-war as Intriguous and the Bore try to pull themselves apart! It's a close contest to be sure, but it appears that the Bore is gaining the upper hand, gradually pushing Intriguous back as it struggles to break free! The Grim Beeper swoops onto the scene and decides to lend a bony helping hand! The robotic reaper rams the Finalists, finally separating them with his mighty plough - knife fights beat arm-wrestling any day, in his opinion! Kody immediately celebrates his freedom by charging the Bore, but Frank is ready for him this time! As Intriguous hits the front wedge and dishes out another whack o' the hammer, the Bore drives under the skirted box and fires the guillotine to pin it down! Intriguous struggles to break free, but the drill is already doing its thing as the wedge lifts the newcomer off the ground! Frank decides to take full advantage of Intriguous' helplessness and pushes its opponent towards the south-western corner, where the Taxman is ready and waiting with his flywheel up to speed! The Bore retracts the guillotine at the edge of the CPZ, dumping Intriguous straight into the House Robot's blades...
                                CRRRASH!
Intriguous bounces out of the corner, nearly bouncing onto its back in the process! Kody quickly makes sure everything's in working order - and it appears they are, although there's now a rather large slice in the paintwork on its right-hand side! The Bore tries to barge it back into the Taxman, but Kody's creation hasn't lost any of its speed it seems! Intriguous deftly dances around the Bore and scrapes under the skirting once again! A quick burst of speed sends Intriguous zipping across the arena, and the Bore straight towards Killeidascope Corner...
                                CRRRASH!
Now it's the Bore's turn to feel the pain as the great psychadelic drum sends it flying across the warzone in a shower of sparks! The PTT veteran has survived the impact with only dents and dings, but that rusty red paintwork is starting to look an awful mess - and it's only going to get worse from the looks of it, as Intriguous catches up and plants another venomous kiss with its awesome axe! Frank snaps the 'trap in retaliation but misses Intriguous altogether! The newcomer quickly darts to the Bore's side and tries to get back underneath! The Bore blocks Kody off, however, and manages another glancing blow with the guillotine! Intriguous simply shrugs the attack off and scuttles its way into the Bore's side once again! A burst of speed and a blow of the axe sees the Bore slammed into the western wall with one more dent to concern itself with!
                                10...9...8...7...
Frank desperately tries to fight back, but Intriguous is pounding the PTT veteran against the barrier!
                                6...5...4...
A well-timed turn lets the Bore scoop up a charging Intriguous! The Bore pushes back and snaps the 'trap, but the newcomer retreats before it can be grappled firmly!
                                3...2...1...

                                CEASE!

And so our second eliminator ends with our two competitors back in the centre of the arena. Since both are still mobile, the Judge will have to decide who meets Achilles in the series final. Has Intriguous captured his interest or has the Crashing Bore snapped up victory again? Let's go to the scores:

                                INTRIGUOUS
DAMAGE = (4/5) * 3 = 12 (Plenty of axe work, with bonus points for making use of Fawkes and Killeidascope Corner.)
                                AGGRESSION = (4/5) * 2.5 = 10 (Relentless throughout.)
STRATEGY = (4/5) * 2 = 8 (Scoop, grapple, feed to House Bots, pit. Three out of four ain't bad.)
                                CONTROL = (4/5) * 1.5 = 6 (Rarely put a wheel out of line.)
STYLE = (3/5) * 1 = 4 (The spins and twirls were very nice. The bumping and barging, less so.)
                                TOTAL = 40 / 50

                                THE CRASHING BORE 2
DAMAGE = (3/5) * 3 = 9 (Despite some misaimed attacks, the 'trap gave Intriguous a few good scars. Also gets points for making use of the Taxman.)
AGGRESSION = (3/5) * 2.5 = 7.5 (Always in the thick of it, but not quite fast enough to dish out proper punishment.)
STRATEGY = (3/5) * 2 = 6 (Scoop, grapple, feed to House Bots, pit. Again. Narrowly misses equal points for using one less hazard.)
CONTROL = (3/5) * 1.5 = 4.5 (Steady throughout, but loses points for its misfires with the 'trap.)
STYLE = (3/5) * 1 = 3 (Not the most graceful performance, but looked impressive when the weapons combo worked.)
                                TOTAL = 30 / 50

THE JUDGE'S VERDICT: Intriguous wins by 40-30.

Despite a valiant effort, the Crashing Bore 2 has officially been wiped out! Keep your surfboard handy, though, Frank, as the Third Place Play-Off is sailing into view!
