Eye Of The Robot - Series 5

I built 1 before in a video game. It will work, just not very well.

It has more power then a 2 wheel Thwackbot, but turns a bit slower.

... no it wont have more power...

the power of a twackbot lies in the combination of speed and mass, slower twackbots are always less powerful

Well, I am right in saying:

Yes, and video games are not usually representative of real world physics...the only way it will work is if:

          1) you have the four wheels arranged parallel to the edges of a square. This means you an spin around really fast, but translational movement is going to be very difficult.

          2) you have car type steering. This means you can move in a wide arc and get some velocity out of whatevers on the end of the pole, albeit not as effective as a true thwackbot.

Trying to do a four wheel drive skid steer thwackbot is stupid. The friction from the wheels will wreck your spinning speed, and therefore your power, and your battery life will be shorter than the avarage career of Big Brother housemates. Just because you did it in a video game does not mean it will work in real life.

wth, come on guys, Im growing to like the method of ignoring Mark, and wth, a 4wd twackbot will work, but it just wont win a fight for what its worth, Id rather see Mark go out in round 1 than having this entire discussion again

Yeah, I just feel like posting very technical reasons as to why things wont work

I am trying to ignore him, its just very difficult...

Oh really Liam? Ill be the judge and jury of that . If AJ can just write down the names to his entries, then I can complete the draw and get this going. Given you tend to place your stats on your forum, I should be fine.

This is my first time in a major by myself- my other major is Dual Duels, in which of course I am paired with Jamie. Im really excited (or dreading!!) to see how my vapours will fare all by them selves in a big major like this. Please dont do hypos Paul, we all know you can write brilliant battles and no one wants to see hypotheticals again

When will people learn not to allow Andy to reserve spots as he takes forever to get around to posting actual stats.

You could always have 4 wheel drive in which the wheels where all at 90 degrees to each other, but then of course it would be horrible to steer normally...

                                Stats to accomodate the CAD...

                                Wedginator Devilution

Shape: Wedge, sloped sides and rear. The rear is awkwardly sloped so that Wedginator always falls on its flipper when inverted. The wedge has slots in it for air intake and aerodynamics which help it move faster, and also they cool the motors down when moving.

Colour: Alligator texture, with an evil face on the wedge and slightly overlapping the side panels.

Speed: 16mph average, 35mph maximum. Can be locked at 15mph if needs be.

                                Weight: 100kg

Armour: 4mm Hardox with a 6mm polycarbonate baseplate. The skirts are 5mm titanium and the front barbs are 5mm Hardox.

                                Drive: 2 LEM130 Lynch Motors @ 48v

                                Power: 6 3600mAh NiCad Battlepacks @ 48v

Motivation: 6WD, 15cm diameter aluminium hubs with urethane tire rubber for grip. The thing is that these wheels are cambered 60 degrees like Tazbot, so although its 6WD, it gives Wedginator a great ability to manoeuvre.

Ground Clearance: 0mm at the front, 0mm at the side with skirts and 6mm without, and 10mm at the rear.

                                Turning Circle: 0

                                Dimensions in CM (LxWxH): 115 x 90 x 30

Weaponry: A front-hinged flipper in a l l l shape on the front wedge, the bars are 5cm wide and are made of 1cm titanium. It is powered by 2 2kg CO2 tanks at 900psi and a 80mm stroke on the middle part. This should give Wedginator enough power to flip at least 1000kg away and still have enough after that first flip for about 29-34 more flips. Also there are barbs at the front to hold an opponent on the wedge quite securely.

Srimech: The flipper. It rights Wedginator, not by simply tilting him, but swinging him into the air so he lands cat-like on his wheels.

Strengths: Fast, very powerful, very manoeuvrable, powerful flipper, weapons synergy should work a lot.

                                Notes: 7th incarnation, very demonic.
