The Fight against House Robots Revisited

      The Teams:

For the honour of the vapourbot:
Seung Mina IV & Whirligig 4.5
      Nitro-Gene 4 & Alpha-Rex
      Mega Masher 2 & Armory
      Paramagnetic Lox Box & Sakura

For the honour of the house robot:
      Exa-Gore-Ic & Die-Ro
      Apocalyptinator and Custard Cream
      Magnavox & Fin
      Golden Lotus & Night Stalker

For the honour of the first round draw
Seung Mina IV & Whirligig 4.5 vs. Golden Lotus & Night Stalker
      Nitro-Gene 4 & Alpha-Rex vs. Magnavox & Fin
Mega Masher 2 & Armory vs. Apocalyptinator and Custard Cream
      Paramagnetic Lox Box & Sakura vs. Exa-Gore-Ic & Die-Ro

Its not usual tag-team rules, where one robot has to be parked up when the other robot fires, no its 2 on 2.

At the end of 5 minutes, its the simple Control, Aggression & Damage Caused spilt between both teams.

      So tactics, predictions etc

Seung Mina IV/Whirligig 4.5 vs. Golden Lotus/NIGHT STALKER

Ill go for Seung Mina here, try and grapple on to the bodywork or weaponry and transport her swiftly to the Lotus. If Whirligig gets involved, try and keep the Lotus between myself and it - basically, treat Alex as a mobile arena hazard that isnt too likely to go after me

        PARAMAGNETIC LOX BOX/Sakura vs. Exa-Gore-Ic/Die-Ro

Similar to the above - drive in unconventional directions to avoid weaponry, and use my traction and power to push people into Sakuras area of attack.

I may also attempt to maneuver people into the pit, if there is one (Dave, info please?)

Get to Night Stalkers side, and try to push it into Golden Lotus, flipping it if I cant push. Whirligig can keep Golden Lotus busy if he wants.

Nitro-Gene 4.0 and Alpha-Rex vs MAGNAVOX and Fin

Danny, I personally think you should go for Nitro-Gene, while I bury the 30kg flywheel into Alpha-Rex. If you get flipped, I will use my claw to pick you up and self-right you. Once Im done, I can help you finish off Nitro-Gene. I may need your axe to help me get to the inside of Alpha-Rex.

Nitro-Gene 4.0 and Alpha-Rex vs Magnavox and Fin: Go ahead Daniel, come and get us all you wish - both me and Alpha-Rex have flippers capable of 1600kg of force at the tips, and you havent got a self-righter nOOb

Ill flip Fin over, and Ill have a better chance of getting it to the walls with my greater power, then we can both flip Mark over, and my 5mm Hardox armour with a 6mm Hardox flipper and shock-proofing all around, I should stand-up to that disc of his. Well both flip him and leave him as he possibly wont be able to self-right.

I dont know muuch about the house robot fight for me and Liam, so Ill let Liam do tactics for that.

I dont think a disc with no motors is going to do all that much to either robot...

                      Tactics: Kill

(...it works for Steve and Whirly)

Paul- those tactics are fine. Our flippers will be far too strong for both Magnavox and Fin.
As for our match against Armory and Mega Masher 2, Armory seeems to be the weakest link to me. Custard Cream can take on Armory and Mega Mashers disc is nothing compared to Apocalyptinators.

                          The Arena:
                          The Swamp v0.3

The arena is rather basic and simple, where the only hazards are the pit which just happens to be open all the time on one side of the arena and on the other side just happens to be a nasty rough patch designed to ground those stupidly low ground clearance robots, anything with less than 5mm ground clearance better stay clear.

The rough patch is an area 5 metre by 5 metres, where 5mm tall aluminium ridges of about 5mm wide rise from the arena at every 5cm, all going in the same direction, an area to avoid at all costs if you have a low machine, get caught on the ridges, and as the ground around the ridges doesn€™t give much grip you might get caught for the count.

There is a sizable gap in the wall of about 20 metres wide, on the side of the arena to the left (the side with the rough patch) to allow robots to flip other robots out, the wall at that point is 4 feet tall. Bonus points will be awarded for target practise.

The arena is 50 metres by 50 metres, there is a Refbot designed to break up robots if they get caught up in each other, but if one robot gets caught against the wall or on the rough and can€™t free itself, then it will be counted out.

The walls are solid steel plating 10cm thick in total, the floor is made from a non-magnetic metal and coated in anti-slip paint, so it is rather griply.

Right...Id like to remove the Boxs skirts to give it less chance of grounding itself, if thats allowed?

Skirts can be removed before fights.

I love rough patches, the best fan-fic I ever wrote was a small 4-way contest with an arena where the floor was entirely roughen up with bumps, so low machines can get grounded if they hit the patch at the wrong angle, so the wheels lose grip in between the grooves.
