The Fight against House Robots Revisited.

This is a rather informal contest, following on from design a house robot, allowing me to fine-tune the new arena for Killer Toad 2.

So the general rules are that:
Wheeled, Tracked, Sliders, Shuffler get 100kg to play with
€œTrue€ Walkers get 150kg to play with
Robots painted in a lovely shade of green get an extra 1kg to play with as green robots are in short supply.

As there are 8 house robots to fight against, I need 8 people to enter 1 vapourbot each.

The format will be like this:
Round 1 - 4 fights of Tag Team Terror, 2 vapours against 2 house robots; winning team goes into round 2. 16 down to 8
Round 2 - Another round of tag team terror, reducing the numbers down to 2 teams
Round 3 - It€™s all one on ones, where the teams break up and fight one robot from the other team
    Round 4 - The final.

If you entered a house robot into €œdesign a house robot€ and enter a robot into this contest, then in round 1 your vapour won€™t meet your house robot.

Any questions feel free to ask.

    Looks like fun!

    Alpha-Rex

Stats are in C&BD if you dont mind looking there. Now painted green so I can put googly eyes on the front
Why did I make my house robot so dangerous?

Tempting as it would be to enter the already green Die-Ceratops Re-Invertus or Leprosy Infection, I thought Id use one of my lesser used machines.

      MEGA MASHER 2

      Weight: 100 kilos
      Body Shape: Minion with skirts.
      Speed: 12mph
      TC: 0
GC; 0 at front, 1mm at sides due to skirts, 10mm underneath.
      Wheels; 4 inner.
      Armour: A nice 3.25mm Hardox
      Power: 3x 12v batteries, plus Bosch 750s at 36v.
      Colour: Red and yellow.
Weapons; The front is a wedge, and the back has a nasty vertical disc, powered by its own LEM130 motor and spinning at 2000 rpm. It can probably flip as well as damage. A side Minion style bar, pneumatic CO2 powered, comes out from the side.
Srimech: The aforementioned bar rights the robot, even though it can run inverted.
Inspiration; This is probably the only robot I have where I have had no inspiration. It just came as a good name.
      Strengths: Power, weaponary
Weaknessess: A little bulky, not as heavy as the body would suggest.

The Fight against House Robots Revisited

For fun and immense bizarreness, Ill bring out the Paramagnetic LOX Box:

        WEIGHT: 100kgs
        DIMENSIONS: 95 x 95 x 35 cm
SHAPE: A hexagon with wedges on all sides, like Turtle Road Kill with two fewer sides.
COLOUR: Bright white, decorated with various warning triangles, symbols and signs in various flourescent colours.
DRIVE: 6 S28-400 Magmotors running from 6 NiMh battlepacks, each driving a machined aluminium cylinder with a urethane rubber screw thread on it, very similar to Alex Holts drive system on Blizzard. The screws are located inside the shell parallel to the armour plates, and using various combinations of rotation make the robot completely omnidirectional - only with a LOT more traction than if omniwheels were used. It can also spin in place to turn, but the design means it shouldnt need to that much.
        SPEED: 12mph max
GROUND CLEARANCE: 10mm, but all sides have hinged skirts making it 0.
ARMOUR: 4mm Hardox on all six wedges, with the top being 10mm carbon fibre/polypropylene honeycomb material and the baseplate 5mm aluminium.
        WEAPONS: None as such
SRIMECH: A linear actuator driven bar in the top of the robot, that self rights it in about 2 seconds.
NOTES: Components inside are shock mounted for protection against things. Has a large orange flashing hazard light on the top. Dont ask about the name.
STRENGTHS: HUGE traction, uniqueish, good pusher and omnidirectional - in fact, it works best without turning around.
WEAKNESSES: Lack of weaponry, so-so armour

And do we give tactics for our house robots as well?

Nitro-Gene 4.0 is here to show House Robots that just becuase you havent got original designs doesnt mean you go down without a fight:

          NITRO-GENE 4.0

          € WEIGHT: 100kg

€ ARMOUR: 5mm Hardox for the body. 6mm Hardox flipper. Inside the body, there€™s 1cm of Vulkanised rubber on the sides and rear, with 2cm on the front to help fight powerful spinners

€ SHAPE: Low invertible box with pointed sides and rear. At the front is a 42* wedge to aid in getting underneath other robots. All the lines have been curved over to make it harder for a spinner to grab onto a panel and rip.

          € MOTORS: 4 x LEM 130€™s at 36V = 36HP

          € LOCOMOTION: 4 Vulkanised Wheels.

          € DIMENSIONS: (L) 90CM (H) 17CM (W) 70CM

€ COLOUR: Black all over with the flipper coloured red.

€ WEAPONRY: A full pressure Nitrogen powered flipper at 1000psi, using a single 80mm ram at 1000psi. The flipper is mounted in the middle of the robot, and is 20cm wide and runs 30cm up the body. Using a 3cm long Titanium strip underneath the flipper, and a heavy flipping arm, the flipper runs completely along the ground. Running on a ratio 2.2:1, the flipper produces 1600kg of force at the tips, allowing me to launch anyone away! This version has 2 x 3kg Nitrogen bottles, giving me 25 flips!

          € SPEED: 22mph

€ GROUND CLEARANCE: 0MM-2CM. At the front, it is completely 0mm. On the sides/rear, its 2cm. The orginal weakness of Nitro-Gene (its high ground clearance) has been seen to by the skirts on the sides/rear. They are 5mm Titanium skirts and are joined together like BioHazard - at the corners. To avoid them breaking off, they are held in place by Hardox hinges.

€ STRENGTH: Pushing power and weaponry.

€ WEAKNESS: High speed may mean difficult driving

                  Sakura

Shape: Shaped like a closed cherry blossom, sort of conical.

                  Speed: 12 MPH

Dimensions(dh): 90X30 - diameter taken from the widest part of the machine, it gets narrower as it goes up.

Colour: Let€™s just say it€™s a shade Bex would approve of

                  GC: 1 CM

                  Turning circle: 0

Weapon: Team Bored€™s first true FBS clocks in with a 50 KG FBS shell, spinning at 1500 RPM and powered by two LEM 130s on 36 volts, which should give a nice fast spin up time. There are four hardox teeth, painted and shaped to look like leaves. These are razor sharp to give a nice slice, and they€™re also barbed to catch and rip opponents. I can only estimate the power output due to the shape not being supported by the energy calculator. This clocks in between 90-100 KJs.

Weapon 2: Humiliation. Who wants to admit they just got beat up by a flower?

Armour: 8 mm hardox for the spinning shell, 5 mm Polypropylene for the base.

Drive: 4 wheel drive, powered by two S28-400 Magmotors on 24 volts.

Srimech: There€™s a hole at the very top of the cone, out of which a blunt self righting spike can come up. This is powered by low pressure pneumatics. Due to weight constraints, it can probably only self right about ten times.

Features: Near the top of the cone are holes. These aren€™t just for reducing weight, as each hole leads to a small aluminium box which is full of pink confetti. As the shell spins, this should be strewn out, allowing Sakura to fight in a cloud of cherry blossoms.

The Fight against House Robots Revisited

                      Whirligig 4.5, please.

                      SHAPE- flat disc
COLOUR- gold with Mauler-style scary face on top. The face shows the direction of the robot.
                      WEIGHT- about 100kg (see bottom)
                      DIMENSIONS- 101.6cm diameter X 12.7cm
                      SPEED- 15mph
                      TURNING CIRCLE- 0
                      GROUND CLEARANCE- 8mm
ARMOUR- 1.905 cm thick Grade 5 titanium
FEET- inside robot, uses 4 DrillZilla-style shuffling plates. These help prevent the bot being flung halfway across the ring on contact with another bot, ala Typhoon
POWER- 2 X S28-400s running on 36v. Uses 120 X NiCad cells at 36v, producing 12amps at 36v overall for drive and weapon power
WEAPONS- The main weapon on Whirligig is the spinning outer ring, fitted with 9 x Pussycat-style claws. The spinner is powered by an LEM-130 running at 36v. It can reach speeds of 1000rpm and produce up to 100kJ...more than enough to kill another bot at full speed.
As well as this, the power in the shuffling feet mean that Whirly can act as a pretty powerful pusher if the shell fails to work
SRIMECH- the robot is invertible and the blades prevent Whirly landing on his side
NOTES- flies Scotland flag, thanks to AJ, my first properly calculated machine
STRENGTHS- fast, manoeuvrable, very deadly weaponry, tough armour, scary face shows its direction, very good traction, cant be flung away on impact as easily as Typhoon
WEAKNESSES- so-so manoeuvrability, feet may prove vulnerable to crushers and axes

                      WEIGHT CHECK:
                      armour = 33.72kg (inc blades)
chassis, mounts, bracing etc = about 30kg
drive and weapon motors = 12kg overall
                      NiCads = about 15kg
                      feet = about 10kg overall

TOTAL WEIGHT = 100.72kg. Fits right into the roller limit, with the 1% error margin rule. Probably.
