  • The FRA Room 101

You may have seen the BBC 2 television series Room 101, hosted orginally by Nick Hancock, and then by Paul Merton, as 87 guest appeared on it discussing their least favourite things ever.

What Im asking is for at least 9 people to pick at the most 12 things and the least 7.
They can range to every medium, such as:

    Television Programs
    Books
    Films
    People
    Countries
    Animals

    and many more.

Tell me who/want youve chosen, and then post a paragraph 500 words in length about it. If youve argued your case well enough, itll go in, if you dont argue it well enough, itll stay out. As extras, if you get more than 5 in if you pick 12 and 3 if you pick 7, I will give you a bonus choice from the ones Ive rejected to go in, and if you get them all in, then you can give an item immunity from the room.

So sign up, and get ready to rant!

500 words may be a bit much, methinks...good idea though, consider me interested.

Given that I have Joey and Frank already signed-up, Ill start with Joey and and then go for Frank whislt I wait for other people to sign-up - I need 7 more.

Frank, for this time, just pick a number of things between 12 or 7 items.

Im now reducing the argument to a maximum of 350 words and minimum of 300.

But first up we have our first guest - please welcome, writer, vapourboteer and finallist in E.O.T.R 4 with his team of vapourbots, its...

        JOEY McCONNELL!

First up though, I need to ask Joey how many things hes picked and how long it took him to pick them.

I have picked seven things, and it took me about ten minutes, although I left a reserve space in case I thought of something else. I would have chosen more, but I didnt think I could write a coherent argument about them without ranting.

Do we have to say what our things are now, or does that come as we argue for them?

You state youjr items in order of which you chose them. You state each one when I say something like your first choice is... or something like that. After youve sent in the name of your item, Ill then ask you why you hate it, and then Ill decide if its a good enough argument to be consigned into Room 101.

So Joey - your first choice is...

My first choice is Kuwait, and I am fully aware of the reality-warping possibilities should it be accepted into the room.

(am typing this from school, so youll probably have to wait till this evening for my actual argument)

Can I ask WHY youre at school...on a Sunday...on the Easter break?

And can I also ask why you dislike the country of Kuwait?

If Joey is reading this, can I ask for his argument about Kuwait. I just need to point out that Ive never been to to Kuwait, and Ive never heard of it until now.

Itll have to be tomorrow, sorry - I actually forgot about this and writing in general tonight _

If I start to hold up the show or anything, feel free to have somebody else go before me, if theyre ready.

If youre on the forum today Joey, please send in your argument f0r Kuwait.

But can I ask why you chose Kuwait - it states in your profile that at the moment you live there.

And actually, given I may not know the majority of the things you chose (and I ask this all future people who sign-up) to give a list of the things youve chosen so I can find out more about them.

I chose it because it is a country of extreme incomprehensibleness and bizarreness...and I can vouch for that having lived here for four years :P Every time I come over here it takes my body a week to adjust to the time difference, normally by several insomniac nights staring at the computer screen. There is nothing to do here, at all, outside of school, shopping and being on the internet all day, and I dislike shopping, which goes some way to explaining why I am so incurably sad The shopping areas mostly contain clothes shops and fast food places, and I avoid the former and sometimes like to order the latter according to how good their fries are. School is...well, school, you can imagine how it is.

The people over here drive like absolute maniacs, they have (AFAIK) about the same number of people dying each year from traffic accidents as in the UK, however since Kuwait only has 2.something million people it works out as a lot more. Theres flagrant disregard for other road users, frequent crashes, annoying teenagers yelling at people from the cars and during elections the candidates posters reduce road visibility to about ten inches, its that bad. The chocolate here sucks (I think they have to put something in it to stop it from melting), the heat combined with the air conditionings odd opinions on what kind of uncomfortable temperature you would like to suffer at makes you rather annoyed and sticky after a while, and although there are good aspects about it (a few of the people are nice, and at least the weather is reliable), I think it should be cast into Room 102, and then have a hole drilled in the wall for it to move to Room 101.

I have no idea if thats around 300 words or not, but it should do...my other things are, in no particular order:
                            Hamburgers
                            A level Chemistry
                            Gangsta rap
                            Disney princess films
                            Desserts in inflight food trays
                            Small children

No Joey - thats an extremely good argument. In the real Room 101, its unlikely for the first item you pick to go in, but Kuwait sounds an extreme good choice.

                              ITS GOING IN!

1 down, 6 to go for Joey.

His next choice is food substance, a food substance loved by the majority of the nation, but hated by him. And by me.

                              Hamburgers

Id first like to tell Joey that I hate Hamburgers as well. But lets here your arguement.
