  • Robot SMASH!!

Mark, I told you not to reply! Do not post anything else in this thread again, ever.

    Semi-Final 1/2:
    Wedge Devolution v ISDSFA

Ladies and Gentlemen, welcome back to the arena, WEDGE DEVOLUTION!
To reach this semi-final Steven McGregor€™s simple wedge flipper has defeated:
    - Woodpecker
    - Wedginator 6.0
    - Razer
    - Liar 2
And the next bot on the menu, please welcome ISDSFA!!!!!!!!!!
To get this late stage of the contest ISDSFA has slain:
    - 259
    - Pure Evil: Return of the Disc
    - Killobite 5.0
    - Whirligig 4.5
Steven and Frank clash again, this time for a place in the finals!!!!!!!!!!

    Booth 1: Steven McGregor
    Booth 2: Frank Goacher

    5, 4, 3, 2, 1, SMASH!!

The semi-finalists both get off to a very quick start, and if you have been reading the posts leading up to this match you€™ll know that both vapourboteers have opted for similar tactics, and this is visible at once as ISDSFA and Wedge Devolution both try to avoid each other€™s front ends and get under the corners! But neither bot succeeds, and they drive past each other, only to turn around and face each other again! Wedge Devolution looks menacing and heads towards ISDSFA, but Frank has some tricks up his sleeve! When Steven gets near ISDSFA Frank quickly turns out, then back in, getting in under the corner of Wedge Devo as planned! And now with a quick flip up and over goes Wedge Devo and in goes Frank with the spinning disc! Frank presses down with the scoop to stop Wedge Devolution self-righting and pushes Steven into the pit release, and now Steve-o looks really worried! But there€™s nothing ISDSFA can really do from this position, as the disc has failed to cut through the hardox armour on Wedge Devolution. Finally then Frank gets the scoop off Wedge Devo and Steven springs back onto his wheels before he goes speeding away from the arena wall and then turns around to face the pursuing ISDSFA! They meet each other, and Wedge Devo manages to get that bent upwards plate underneath ISDSFA and throws Frank€™s creation up and over! And before he can self-right Steven continues this dangerous onslaught and pushes ISDSFA across the arena again, then as they get near the arena wall Steven hits the flipper button!
    FLIP!
ISDSFA somersaults through the air and lands with its front scoop on the ground, but the rear end propped up on the wall, and ISDSFA can€™t go anywhere from there! Steven grins maniacally, but the celebration is ended when Frank uses his scoop to shimmy off the wall and gets under Wedge Devo to throw it over again! But this time Steven is faster self-righting and does so before Frank can get the disc into play, but Wedge Devo self-rights onto ISDSFA€™s raised scoop, allowing Frank to lever Wedge Devo back up and over and bring the disc into play again! ISDSFA pushes Steven across the arena floor and into the angle grinder, and Steven doesn€™t look too happy being stuck between a rock and a hard place! But once again the judge€™s order Frank to stop the pinning after a minute, so Frank lets go after about thirty seconds, perhaps to give himself more time to finish Wedge Devo off? If so, he€™s underestimated the wedge flipper, which now self-rights, speeds underneath ISDSFA and throws it into the air again!
    CRASH!
And this time Frank has suffered a bit of a crash landing, hitting the floor with the scoop raised in a premature attempt to self-right and ISDSFA bounces painfully over the flame pit and lands on its side by the grinder! And before Frank can get out of there in comes Steven with an evil glint in his eye!
    FLIP!
Over the wall goes ISDSFA and we have our first finalist!

WEDGE DEVOLUTION GOES TO THE GRAND FINAL!

    Semi-Final 2/2:
    Supreme Glory Omega v Nidhogg

Supreme Glory Omega has already beaten:
    - Dead Horse Beater
    - D.V.D
    - All Scoop and No Stab Make Steve a Dull Boy
    - Storm II
    His opponent Nidhogg has decimated:
    - The Curse
    - Doorstops
    - WORCK
    - Seung Mina IV
Who will go on to meet Wedge Devolution in the grand final?

    Booth 1: Daniel Stickler
    Booth 2: Joey McConnell

    5, 4, 3, 2, 1, SMASH!!

And the second semi-final gets underway! It€™s Nidhogg immediately on the attack, but SGO is equally aggressive and both bots head out to meet each other! Daniel switches on his vacuum-like mechanism and swings down with his axe, landing a hefty blow on Nidhogg€™s wedge! Joey panics and ploughs straight into SGO, trying to get the forks underneath, but failing! And so Daniel gives Joey another taste of that lethal axe, but this time Joey raises his forks and traps the axe! He pulls SGO onto the flame pit, but Daniel retracts the axe and reverses out of danger! Joey drives back on the attack, but once again can€™t really get underneath and Daniel gets in his third blow, this time striking the top of the crusher and knocking some of the spines loose! Though distinctly ruffled by that blow, Nidhogg pushes SGO back into the pit release button, and when Daniel withdraws the axe it hooks onto the arena wall and lifts SGO€™s rear end into the air! Before Daniel can repair that mistake Joey swiftly skids around to the rear and lifts SGO with the lifting forks, and then coming down with that dreaded crusher! The armour isn€™t very strong and the crusher sinks in, doing damage? We€™re yet to find out, but with SGO speared on the end of the crusher Nidhogg lifts Daniel into the air and begins the trek towards the pit! But Daniel swings the axe madly and manages to loosen Nidhogg€™s grip, therefore falling onto the ground! Daniel tries to hit Nidhogg with the axe again, but something seems to be wrong- SGO is only going in circles! It seems one of the motors was pierced by Nidhogg€™s last attack and now Daniel€™s hopes are in tatters! The crowd scream with both horror and delight and begin the countdown!

    5, 4, 3, 2, 1, IMMOBILE!

SGO is out of the contest and with great sportsmanship Daniel claps Joey and grudgingly stops struggling to let Nidhogg push SGO into the pit of oblivion, therefore signalling the true end of SGO€™s Robot SMASH!! Campaign, and with it SGO takes Daniel€™s hopes of winning the trophy!
PIT, PIT, PIT, PIT, PIT, PIT, PIT, PIT, PIT, PIT, PIT, PIT, PIT, PIT, PIT, PIT, PIT, PIT!
The crowd are sad to see good old Supreme Glory Omega go, but they€™re ecstatic to see Nidhogg go through!
    CRASH!
SGO collapses into the pit, Nidhogg goes through!

    WE HAVE OUR TWO FINALISTS!

    Play-Off:
    ISDSFA v Supreme Glory Omega
    Final:
    Wedge Devolution v Nidhogg

It does if you behave like a n00b ALL of the flaming time. I;m starting get a bit annoyed with you.

And its not Martijns fault VRW2 went down the drain - anything that goes wrong in a competition is ALWAYS the fault of the owner of that - look at E.O.T.R 3 and 4 - thse hypos werent Kodys fault or Joey fault or Martijns fault - but MY fault. And, despite all this, Im not banning you from my competitions, but unless you GREATLY improve, E.O.T.R will not be legitable for you to enter.

Sorry - I didnt post predictions:

        Play-Off:
ISDSFA v Supreme Glory Omega - In this battle, Ill go for Franks Behemoth like machine will break under the force of SGOs lethal axe! Unless Frank pulls something out of the bag, Ill go for Danny to claim 3rd place.

        Grand Final:
Wedge Devolution v Nidhogg - Ohhhhhhhh...I have NO idea! This could go either wayh, but Ill give it to Wedge Devolution to flip the Joey machine over the side.

        Good luck everyone

I think Liam would like his tournament back

And...*deep breath* WOOOOHOOOO! Good fight Daniel though, I honestly thought I was screwed when you reminded me about the vacuums...

          PREDICTIONS:
It Still Doesnt Stand For Anything vs. Supreme Glory Omega:
Supreme Glory to win on a judges decision, based on damage.

          TACTICS:
          Wedge Devolution vs. NIDHOGG:
Unlike last time, this time I genuinely am screwed Basically try and grapple and pit it, same as usual Nidhogg tactics really. Avoid the arena walls where I can though, lest I end up on the camera tracks (although thatll probably happen anyway)

          Best of luck Steve

Thank you to everyone who entered, allowing me to do my first major with success. Robot SMASH!! series 2 would love to have you all back competing again, I hope you will all compete in it (except Mark) and I hope to see some people who have thus far shyed away from my tournaments.

Attacking me now Mark? Please read with me.

              quote:

Here was a piece of Joeys advice:

Start a small 8-bot tourney, with 16 bots being the absolute most.

When VRW series 2 crashed, I listened to your advice and started an 8-bot tourney.

YOU made VRW 2 crash with your mistakes. WE told you before that it would be wise to start small, but nooooooooooooooo, you had to screw up yet another tournament before you FINALLY decided to listen to 1 thing we say, which made you throw the thread into the garbage bin and start it all over.

              quote:

However, once Martijn said what he said, that didnt work! If Martijn hadnt have posted all those faults, VRW Series 2 would be going well right now.

YOU made those mistakes Mark, SEVEN bloody obvious mistakes in 1 day (yes, theres even one I forgot to mention back then). I summed them up so you could learn from them, cause if one doesnt see his own mistakes he can never improve. But never mind Mark, you just cant improve.
              Heck, you should be gratefull..

              quote:

However, my tourney days are over,

              Thank God.

              quote:

so all I need is help changing my attitude towards Kody,

You could listen to his wise words and respect him for starters...

              quote:

and help with my new bot: Interstate.

Not from me, I sure as hell know Interstate will never fight in one of my tourneys.

              Play-Off:
              ISDSFA v Supreme Glory Omega
              Final:
              Wedge Devolution v Nidhogg

a nice bit of robots Liam, I believe ISDSFA and Wedge will pull it off, but both fights can easilly go either way.

                  Hoo boy.

Nidhoggs slow srimech could be the key to victory here. Aim anywhere but the front (preferably the back) and throw it over. Hurridly shove it to the nearest wall before it can self-right and toss it over the fence for one last hoorah.

The best of luck to all!

                    I€™m baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa aaaaaaaaaaack!
For the last two fights of Robot SMASH!! Series 1!
                    Play-Off:
                    ISDSFA v Supreme Glory Omega
                    Final:
                    Wedge Devolution v Nidhogg

But before the action in the arena gets underway, let€™s take a look into the pit area and see what fabulous creations await us. Some of these didn€™t fare too well in combat, but we at Robot SMASH!! Like the original as much as the successful.

                    Best Designed Robot:
The nominations for this coveted award are:
A simple wedge, but well thought out- Paul Cuomo€™s WORCK!
An intuitive forks and crusher design, its Kody Kunz€™s KILLOBITE 5.0!
A very special crusher, it didn€™t go far but its Frank Goacher€™s ACRONYMS FTW!

And the winner is............ ACRONYMS FTW!

                    Most Original Entry:
                    The three nominations are:
A five part clusterbot, each incorporating a different weapon- Daniel Stickler€™s WEAPON SYNERGY!
A strange pyramid shape with a front hinged flipper? Gotta be Joey McConnell€™s GABRIEL II!
The flipper and spikes was a lethal combination... Frank Goacher€™s THE MAY TRACKS HAS YOU!

And the recipient is............... WEAPON SYNERGY!

                    Best Engineered Robot:
                    The trio of nominations are:
The hydraulic crusher of Steven McGregor€™s E CLAWDIUS UNUM!
The scary face of Kody Kunz (€˜s) WEDGINATOR 6.0!
The raining terror of Daniel Stickler€™s MEGA MONSOON!

And the victor is................... MEGA MONSOON!

And now it€™s finally time for the last two fights of the competition, the play-off for third place and the final!

                    Play-off for 3rd place:
                    ISDSFA v Supreme Glory Omega

ISDSFA had a fantastic time in the heats, dispatching 259, Pure Evil: Return of the Disc and Killobite 5.0. Then, in the quarters Frank dealt Steven€™s Whirligig 4.5 a thrashing to get through to the semi-finals, where it was unfortunately beaten by Wedge Devolution.

Supreme Glory Omega started brilliantly, smashing Dead Horse Beater€™s base armour to win a match it had started badly. In round 2 it immobilised the powerful D.V.D, and then defeated All Scoop and No Stab Make Steve a Dull Boy in the heat final. In the quarters Storm II was the realie that fell, but then SGO came up against Nidhogg in the semis, starting well but ultimately falling victim to that terrible crusher.

                    Booth 1: Frank Goacher
                    Booth 2: Daniel Stickler

                    5, 4, 3, 2, 1, SMASH!!

Both robots shoot off the mark, they both want that 3rd place medal! It€™s SGO that looks the more aggressive, that dangerous axe glinting in the light, but it€™s ISDSFA that gets the first attack in, ramming Daniel across the arena and rolling SGO onto its back! And before Daniel can self-right ISDSFA comes in again, this time cutting into the armour with the spinning disc! But now SGO self-rights and slams its axe down onto ISDSFA, and Daniel has that axe head lodged in behind Frank€™s scoop! And with this hold Mr. Stickler begins to drag ISDSFA towards the pit release, but Frank lifts SGO off the ground and SGO is forced to withdraw the axe from the scoop of ISDSFA. But once again Daniel is open to attack and Frank makes another cut into the armour, this time into the top armour! But SGO is anything but defenceless and strikes again with that malevolent axe, this time hooking onto the top of Frank€™s Behemoth shaped machine and pulling it into the pit release! But now Frank flips SGO onto it€™s back and props it against the arena wall, the axe hanging uselessly against the side wall! And now Frank comes in with the disc to chew into the base armour, but then SGO uses the powerful axe to use momentum and get itself down off the wall! But ISDSFA is ready and flips Mr. Stickler over again, this time wasting no time in getting underneath again and ramming SGO into the corner, where it is flipped back onto its wheels by the spike! But Frank is too quick and again SGO finds itself on its back, Daniel quickly self-rights, but Frank was there and gets underneath again, raising the scoop high and ramming into the side wall, making SGO flip over the side and out of this play-off!

A SHORT MATCH AND THE PLAY-OFF IS ALL OVER!

ISDSFA gets third place, but who will join him on the podium?

                    FINAL
                    Wedge Devolution v Nidhogg

Ladies and Gentlemen, I present to you the best two heavyweight machines in this series of Robot SMASH!!, WEDGE DEVOLUTION annnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnd NIDHOGG!
In round one, Nidhogg pierced the tyres of The Curse while Wedge Devolution threw Woodpecker around.
In round two, Wedge Devolution threw Wedginator 6.0 OOTA while Nidhogg put an end to the clusterbot Doorstops.
In the heat finals Nidhogg got its revenge on WORCK, while Wedge Devolution tossed Razer out of the competition.
In the quarters Wedge Devolution told Liar 2 the truth while Nidhogg took on Seung Mina IV in a close match and won.
In the semis Wedge Devolution threw ISDSFA out of the match while Nidhogg adequately dealt with Supreme Glory Omega.
Now they€™re both here, in the grand final. Who will prevail?

                    Booth 1: Steven McGregor
                    Booth 2: Joey McConnell

                    5, 4, 3, 2, 1, SMASH!!

The finalists are off! Wedge Devolution has that flipper while Nidhogg has the crushing beak and forks. Both are well armoured, but neither aggressive as this final starts. They merely circle each other, perhaps trying to scent out a weak spot? Maybe, but it seems Wedge Devolution has found one as Steven powers in on the attack, ramming Nidhogg from the side and flipping it right over! But Joey€™s robot somersaults, landing back on its wheels, and now he comes on an onslaught of his own, getting the forks under Wedge Devo€™s raised flipper arm and holding on tight with that powerful crusher! Steven looks really worried, and all he can do here is to try and push Nidhogg around, as his 4WD will better Nidhogg€™s 2WD! Steven pushes Nidhogg onto the flame pit, but Joey still holds onto Wedge Devo and the two of them spin around the arena, Nidhogg trying to pull Wedge Devolution towards the pit release button while Steven tries to get his robot out of Joey€™s maniacal clutches! The crowd are screaming, some for Wedge Devolution and some for Nidhogg. Wedge Devolution is such an experienced machine; it is a previous winner of VFT, one of the greatest fanfics of all time! Yet Nidhogg is a relative newcomer, and here he is holding onto Wedge Devo in a fantastic attempt to win the first ever series of Robot SMASH!! . And still Wedge Devolution can€™t shake Nidhogg off, but the judges call time on the hold- one minute has passed and Nidhogg must let go! As soon as he does Wedge Devolution pulls away and gets the flipper back down for another attack, once again ramming Nidhogg from the side and flipping it over, but this time Nidhogg lands on its back, on Wedge Devo€™s flipper! So Steven throws Joey up into the air again and Nidhogg comes crashing down by the arena wall! It€™s self-righting is slow, and before Nidhogg can get back onto its wheels in comes Wedge Devolution for another attack! Steven rams in and gets underneath, throwing Nidhogg up into the air again! But this time Joey is lucky, as the emphasis from that flip was up rather than across and Nidhogg lands right on the rails before toppling back in onto its wheels! Joey quickly speeds away across the arena and presses the pit release button, then turns to meet the oncoming Wedge Devolution! They clash head on again, and Wedge Devolution pushes Nidhogg back into the corner, where Joey is flipper by the arena spike! This is disaster for Nidhogg as Wedge Devolution takes the chance to get under and punt Nidhogg into the air again! And now Joey lands right on his back by the wall and it seems that Nidhogg went so high that time the self-righting spines on the weapon have been damaged! Steven smiles while Joey panics and fiddles with the controls desperately, and now the crowd roars and begins the count on Nidhogg!

                    5, 4, 3, 2, 1, IMMOBILE!

We have a Robot SMASH!! Champion it seems, and now in comes Wedge Devolution to finish off the tournament with one last colossal flip!
                    FLIP!
Nidhogg flies over the arena wall and lands in a crumpled heap on the camera tracks, broken and beaten!

ROBOT SMASH!! SERIES 1 IS OVER!

Wedge Devolution is the Robot SMASH!! Champion!

And now we see the seeds for Robot SMASH!! Series 2:
                    1st Wedge Devolution
                    2nd Nidhogg
                    3rd ISDSFA
                    4th Supreme Glory Omega
                    5th Seung Mina IV
                    6th Storm II
                    7th Liar 2
                    8th Whirligig 4.5
                    9th Razer

16th The May Tracks Has You
                    17th Wedginator 6.0
                    18th Doorstops
19th Pure Evil: Return of the Disc
                    20th D.V.D
                    21st MeCannibal 2.0
                    22nd Tempest Evil-est-oution
                    23rd Weapon Synergy
                    24th Tira III

These of course, may change if some robots are not entered.

Thank you to everyone who entered, putting your sanity at risk and allowing me to complete my first major! I hope you will all return in Robot SMASH!! Series 2, which will probably turn up earlier than expected because I€™ll get bored!

Screw it. Well done to Steve for grasping yet another major tournament, and to Joey for getting the silver. Of course, many thanks to Liam for holding an awesome tournament.

And I WILL return for No. 2, you can bet on that.

Even though I didnt enter this for some strange and disorientating reason that I cant remember, this was a great tournament that Ill definitely enter next time, and is way better than anything I could write.

Admittedly, a half-blind chicken pecking keys at random could write a better fight than I could, so that isnt saying much.

A half-blind chicken pecking keys at random could write a better fight than somebody else we could mention. And I think we all know who that is.
