There was still one spot one and Tracy nabbed it. And even if there was one more spot, Mark still isn't allowed in.

And yeah, Jack, you kinda missed a few posts. :P

EDIT: Yes, well, for an RPG of this size a year doesn't change anything, Mark. :P

HUGE HUGE HUGE HUGE HUGE HUGE HUGE HUGE HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGE UPDATE

          ----

          continuing...

The battle was on! Caesar charged the group! Nidhogg (taking a Drive Boost and Power Boost respectively) and Die-Ceratops (Power Boost) flew in at Caesar; unfortunately for them, he spun around so fast that, even with their boosted drive, they were knocked aside as Caesar flew about and attacked Die-Ceratops. The flipper barely had time to register the 825kg of horrifying dictator before he was smashed into the crowd of heroes behind him, which scattered, and was slammed into the wall beyond. Die-Ceratops yelled as a pincer, cruelly-pointed, came down with an slow, yet ominous speed. Chris fired the flipper, which connected with the top of Caesar's claw and next second Chris was in excruciating pain, and still the claw came falling down...

...until a rather pointed lift from Flick of the Wrist, Tsunami, and Nitro-Gene tipped him over, forcing him to release Die-Ceratops, who was now down a flipper.

MAKE WAY! Nidhogg roared, as he came flying in and tackled Caesar, who was trying to self-right, and got him right near the underbelly...

...and cried out as Caesar self-righted directly on top of him.

Hold on, Joey, I'm there! called Nitro-Gene, going over to Nidhogg and trying to flip Caesar off of him. What happened was Nitro-Gene merely nudged the great dictator aside, while Caesar's side hooked around Nidhogg's entire claw and brought Nidhogg crashing down onto HIS side. Nitro-Gene hurried forward to make up for his mistake, but Caesar was already there, taking Nitro-Gene in his grasp and crushing down. There was a terrible, agonizing scream; the others looked on in horror as their teammate was being broken before them...

Finally, Tengu gathered his wits and approached Caesar, but the dictator threw Nitro-Gene in front of him suddenly, with such ridiculous force that Paul was flung all the way across the coliseum and came to rest on his back, unmoving and wretched. Caesar started after Tengu next, but Asterix was at his side with a SMASH, backing off as Caesar turned to him.

          Giving Alex a perfect opportunity.

          CRASH!!!

The wheel came off as easily as a leaf on a tree, sapped of its nutrients, and was flung away. Caesar however showed no sign of pain, and charged the temporarily motionless Tengu, but Obelix came in and gave the dictator a swift pounding, and backed off. Caesar tried to turn, but now realized the full loss of his momentum, and Asterix with a yell moved in with another huge ram, staying there this time. As Caesar tried to throw him off, Nidhogg (having righted himself) flew in from the other side and gripped Caesar, chomping in. It didn't do much, but kept Caesar in place as Mechavore moved in, and took out the other front wheel! Taki moved in, and attacked the rear...

          CRASH!!!

Missing the rear right wheel, and barely scratching the armour, but now Flick came in with Tsunamui at his side, and together they just managed to tip Caesar onto his side again. The heroes moved in before Caesar could even try to self-right, and next second the srimechs were gone courtesy of Tengu and Mechavore, and Obelix pounded repeatedly on Caesar's underbelly, managing to get the rear wheel, and bent it severely.

HOLD! HOLD! shouted Caesar. I yield.

I'm sorry, but you've hurt our friend, unyieldingly, so why should we yield? growled PMPY.

Caesar would have answered, but more pounds from Obelix made him howl in pain. Mechavore and Tengu continued to batter him, but the Ti/V and Hardox plating was standing up to their assaults reasonably well. Against Obelix, however...

Yea, good answer, said Clawdius mockingly. Let's finish him off.

There was no protest. Obelix had taken out the entire base panel by now, exposing electronics, and now Mechavore and Tengu drew in for the final blows.

          CRASH!!!

A bang, a scream, and a blinding flash of light later, Caesar's remains smouldered in the middle of the coliseum. Two other robots came rushing in, both seemingly in senatorial positions judging by their markings.

What is this? cried one of them, a priest, who at once came flying to the side of Caesar. What have you done to Caesar?!

Asterix started forwards angrily. The priest recoiled as he approached.

Nothing that he did not deserve, said Asterix scathingly. And if you ever decide to treat the Gauls like rubbish, and keep them contained as you are doing now, then you will meet the same fate. Release watch over the villages of our village and over Lutetia!

The priest recoiled further. I...I...I...what... he spluttered.

We cannot lightly throw control of the villages to another party, drawled one of the priest's companions.

Ah, Brutus, they are saying to rid the places of control completely! cried the priest, but he seemed fearful of further provoking the Gauls.

Ha! what? said Brutus. After what you have done to our leader?

After what we have done to your entire empire, shot back Asterix. Would you like proof?

Then the senators suddenly realized that their entire empire was exposed. Another attack would cripple it, whether from the Gauls or the Egyptians or whatever. It could not be borne. Brutus growled at Asterix, but could make no further argument.

Ai, Brutus what should we do? despaired the priest.

The senator considered the gaul for a moment, then, with a deep breath, said in a constricted voice, We cannot be further enemies, lest destruction meet us all. For this I will release the Roman control over Gaul and Lutetia. This truce I pledge, should other forces from Egypt and other empires destroy us all.

Wait! cried Flick, striking up his courage. Brutus turned to him grimly, and Flick faltered for a moment. Then he continued, Wait. There are other forces. I have come across them...or him. You must be wary.

What? What is this? asked Asterix. Speak quickly, what has happened?

It's to do with the traitor, isn't it? Taki piped up.

Flick was marginally surprised by Taki's intuition, but ploughed on. Yes it is. I have met the true force who currently holds sway over Tira. He appeared in Lutetia and freed her.

The group gasped. Could you not have held him off? asked Clawdius.

How could I have? snapped Flick. He was nearly 25 times my size and wielding an unknown dark power, I had to rejoin your group.

There was an obstinate silence after this, the silence that becomes steadily louder as time goes on. No one dared to speak, even if they wanted to.

Finally Brutus broke it. This force...do you believe he would return here? he questioned.

Anything is possible, said Flick. So I would advise you to be on your guard. Your Caesar did not see such power, just as he did not see such strength in the Gauls, as we have proved. Oh no, he added, as he saw Brutus twitch in anger, it has nothing to do with you all, only Caesar. You are wiser than he, or have become so, I believe. Do you believe it, Asterix?

I would have to reserve judgment, muttered Asterix. Flick snorted.

Well I believe so, said Clawdius suddenly, so recover your strength, and stand by your pledge never to take back control of the villages of Gaul and Lutetia, Brutus.

It is against my head, replied Brutus irritably, but keeping good will is indeed crucial. I will do as you ask.

Very well, said the priest. We...we must swear you in, Brutus, as the new leader of the Roman empire. You indeed were next in line, as Caesar did not have a direct heir...

As Brutus and the priest made back through the coliseum, Flick turned to the others, who were looking towards him.

You don't think I'm a coward for running away! cried Flick.

No, Clawdius sighed. I believe you, that this foe is of a kind we have not imagined possible. But this means we must become stronger. Agreed?

There was general assent and agreement among the group.

Uh... Die-Ceratops called. I...I think you'd better see this...

There was cold dread in Chris' voice, and the others, turning around, did not need to ask why. Nitro-Gene was lying crumpled on its back, its armour scarred and bent severely, and smoking heavily. They rushed over to him, taken in the incredible amount of pain dished out.

Paul? said Flick. Are you okay?

          There was no answer.

Paul! shouted Tengu. If you don't get up, I'm gonna...I'm gonna...

You're gonna give him this, said Clawdius. He was bearing the Rebotulizer they were carrying.

All right Prof! cried PMPY, but NSBFR-X wasn't happy about the use of it.

Don't use it yet, he croaked. Everybody turned to him.

Frank, what the hell? said Nidhogg; Joey could not believe his eyes. Are you suggesting we let him permanently die?

Of course not, said NSBFR-X sullenly. But in case you have forgotten, we've completed this chapter, and it is time to go back and find out what Kody needs us to do. And if you'll remember, there's something in there that revives 'dead' robots.

The revival point! said Flick. Frank, you're amazing! I don't think any of us remembered that! Er, did we?

There was a great chorus of Nos.

But now that I do, said Nidhogg, I also remember we can only use it 5 times.

There'll still be 4 more times we can use it after this, said Flick doggedly. Now then, blasphemous as it may seem, we can worry about Paul later. He turned to Asterix. We had a deal, dear gaul. The Romans will trouble you no longer. Where is the Gear?

Asterix smiled. It is here! The gear appeared suddenly on the wedge of Asterix. Take it!

That I'll certainly do! said Flick. He took it, feeling elated.

It is supposed to have powers by itself, explained Asterix. What power it is I cannot guess, but it will suit you now more, since we can now take care of ourselves.

Thanks guys! said Nidhogg, looking around at everybody. I'm glad you joined me and Paul when Kody sent us. We may have, well... he muttered shamefacedly, failed to recapture Tira, but we've done something much better.

That you have, said a familiar voice.

They turned around. Super Gore was there again. He looked different, though. His rear was rounded this time and his claws were steel and bloodied.

Ah Kody, good to see you mate, said Clawdius. In case you haven't seen... Flick lifted up the gear, we did it!

Yes you have, said Super Gore, chuckling. You have defeated the corrupt leader and replaced the Roman empire in better hands, thus giving a thin bond between the Romans and Gauls much strength in the trials to come. Hopefully Brutus will learn to have self-control better than Caesar did, and if he does not, Asterix and Obelix can pay them a little visit and remind him what happened to the previous dictator...

Asterix seemed surprised at this appearance, but at Super Gore's remark he laughed. We shall never be close friends, he said, but we shall not attack Roman forces unless they provoke us again, and we shall help them if it is fit to so do.

Good! said Super Gore. We shall take our leave of you now, dear friends. He travelled over to Nitro-Gene's prone form. He can be called back, he said quietly. Let us go back now.

Farewell! called Flick, as Asterix and Obelix went back towards their village. Your courage is outstanding, use it well!

And you also, called back Asterix. If you had not came to our aid, we may not have triumphed. Goodbye!

They said their goodbyes, until the noise of the two gauls could not be heard. Then Super Gore said, I believe it is time. Let us find the gateway again.
          ----
After what seemed like an hour, they found the place they had first appeared, and the gateway revealed itself; a huge static screen such as the one they had encountered on the Ohmi Bot-fu Kingdom appeared before them.

Super Gore turned to Mechavore. And you are?

Mechavore, replied the blimpbot. I've joined the party.

She certainly has, piped up Nidhogg. A damn fine job she's done, and without a srimech to boot.

I don't need a srimech to cut the living hell out of my enemies! said Mechavore hotly.

Erm, that was a compliment, mumbled Nidhogg.

Let's go, shall we? said Super Gore to prevent any further argument.

          --------
          --------
          END OF CHAPTER TWO
          --------
          --------

What is it? asked Alex, after Paul had been in the revival point.

This is not good, muttered Kody. One of the gears has been stolen by a mysterious entity.

Tira? said Taki (still in her robotic form) before she could stop herself.

It is possible, replied Kody. But it did not seem like her. This presence itself is not...evil.

So let me get this straight, said Martijn. Someone goes into a kingdom and steals a gear. And they're not evil?

It could have been held by an enemy, said Frank. Remember Geki?

Where is this entity? asked Joey.

Hold on, I'm trying to find out... muttered Kody. Oh dear, this is not good...

What's up? said Chris. You can't find whoever stole it?

Not entirely, sighed Kody. There is a new place that has opened up; happily many allies are within it, but we do not know if the gear is there or not.

Okay, said Martijn. So where has the gear been stolen from?

          Dunsinane Arena, said Kody.

Okay, we're not going there then, said Martijn.

Truthfully, it could be in any of the places, even the new place.

The thief hasn't travelled yet? said Frank.

I know not. But you must choose.

Where is this new place, anyway? said Paul, a little weakly.

Kody smiled wryly. That is a mystery. Even I do not know of this place. I can, however, detect many 'friendly' faces in there.

A sudden smattering of footsteps made everybody (except Kody) jump and turn around.

Ah, said Kody brightly. Welcome you two. Everybody, you may have met before, but this is Andrew Jackson, and here is Liam Eliot. They will be joining you.

ANDY! Martijn gave Andy a high-five, followed by Joey. And Liam! Good to see you! How goes it, mateys?

The usual, grinned Andy. Teacakes and Duval's afro and all that nonsense. Joey and Martijn smirked, they knew what Andy was going on about.

I'm all right, said Liam haughtily. He turned to Kody. So where's this new place you were talking about?

I have already told you, said Kody smoothly, that I cannot exactly tell you where it is. You must vote on a place.

All right then, said Andy, grinning. Let's choose a place, shall we?

                          continuing...

                          So...have you decided? asked Kody.

We have, said Andy. Or at least, I have. That German-sounding one. Ostrichburg, was it?

Osthreinsburg, or Ost'hrains'burg if you haven't learned to pronounce it correctly, growled Kody, as Martijn and Joey laughed.

Think we'll go for that one too, they said.

                          And me, Liam shrugged.

We'll go with the general favour then, said Taki, Mechavore, and Tsunami all at once.

Well that's a majority... muttered Chris.

Right then, said Kody, Osthreinsburg it is! Now, before you go, I have something that may come in handy for you.

Oh? And what may that be? inquired Martijn.

Kody pulled an item from one of his trenchcoat pockets and handed it to Martijn. This, said Kody, is a tracking device. The titanium gears are not purely titanium; they hold promethium within their cores. This little gadget here will detect the promethium within them. It can track them within a score of kilometres.

That sounds all right, said Martijn. One question though...we already have two gears with us, won't the tracking device keep pointing towards us?

Indeed it will, replied Kody, which is why you must leave them here in the court.

But we can't do that! said Joey. There's a villain on the loose, or so Marti says.

Kody's eyebrows raised to a considerable height. What is this tale? he demanded. Be swift!

Okay, said Martijn, and he described his meeting with the monstrous robot in Lutetia, and how it freed Tira, and how it already knew about 'heroes'...

Kody scowled. I think we may have found the culprit behind my refbot's identity theft... he seethed.

You're not kidding, said Martijn. That thing nearly killed me in one hit! Surely it must be behind everything.

I wouldn't go too fast, retorted Alex. There's still a great deal we don't know.

True, Kody sighed. Still, I must keep these here. Do not worry, they will be kept safe. They do belong to me after all. Nonetheless, the group still looked troubled.

There is no more to be said on the matter, at least for this time, said Kody. Well, off you go now! I will uncover more about this in the meantime.

Right, let's head out, everybody! said Steve. Kody, do show us that fletching screen again.

Stage 3: A Tale of Swords and Souls Retold (Osthreinsburg Arena)

                          What a fog, remarked NSBFR-X.

They were settled by the outskirts of the great castle. A miasmal fog lingered ever through the walls and over the lake that surrounded it.

And how the bloody hell, coughed Nitro-Gene, are we supposed to cross this river?

Flick checked the tracker. Oh yes, I've already picked it up, he said gleefully. It's definitely in the castle, but indeed, how to get to it...

Maybe if we just take that bridge over there, suggested Forza, motioning a little to their right.

The others were about to groan, when they saw the bridge collapse suddenly, falling straight into the deeps with a noisy SPLASH.

Wh-what?! spluttered Forza. How could that happen?

But they were in doubt little longer. A most familiar-looking green-and-purple robot was on the opposite side of the bridge, cackling.

It's her! snarled Nidhogg. What's she doing here?!

Even as he said it, the figure turned and fled over the gangways into the castle.

That wench just destroyed our only way in! cried Die-Ceratops angrily.

No... said PMPY slowly. There have to be other ways in. I'd think the bridge was a bit too small to send troops in heavy force, don't you think?

                          ...you've got a point, said Die-Ceratops mulishly.

I do, said PMPY. Now let's find another way in.

So the group travelled about, taking care not to get stuck on the lofty terrain. At least, they had managed to get around the circumference. There before them was a massive bridge, built of nearly solid wall and stone. Unfortunately, guess who was already there, striking the bridge supports?

Argh! Her again! shouted Nidhogg. After her!

Tira let out a howl and turned tail, but Flick and PMPY were hot on her tail. Already they were over the bridge, when...

                          RUMBLE...

...that doesn't sound good... inquired Ge5orce.

OVER THE BRIDGE!!! shrieked Mechavore, as the structure began to give way beneath them. Luckily they had made it across before it completely foundered and with a defeaning roar, plunged into the watery abyss below.

Well...that was close, said Nitro-Gene brightly.

No one would know that better than me, grunted Tengu, who was the last across the bridge.

The traitor! said Taki sharply. Flick, who had turned to check if his comrades were okay now whirled around with panic to see where Tira had gone.

                          She had vanished.

Great, sighed Flick. Now she'll have time to prepare some more devilry against us.

Taki would have smiled, if she could. While Tira is a murderous psychopath, she said bluntly, she is nowhere near adept enough for a plan against us.

So what you're saying is...she's stupid? snorted Die-Ceratops.

Far from it, answered Taki. Her apparent insanity would stop her from concocting too detailed a scheme. I've seen it before.

Okay, said Clawdius. What do you suggest, m'dear?

Instinct tells me that she is not alone here, answered Taki, as they entered a long stone hallway, ancient in years. If there's been someone cooking something up against us, she can't be primarily behind it.

In other words, that thing I encountered in Lutetia is here? yelped Flick.

                          It is possible, said Taki.

By this time, they had reached a fork in the passageway. All three paths; left, right and ahead, led into almost total darkness.

I don't like the looks of this, grunted PMPY.

Hey, look up there! shouted Nitro-Gene suddenly, making them all jump.

Paul! Keep your voice down! hissed NSBFR-X.

Sorry, but...but look! Nitro-Gene fired its flipping arm, which pointed at the ceiling. All of them looked at it.

Looks like a puzzle, said Ge5orce. I'm no good at those.

Actually, I think it's a hint as to which path we should take, said Flick. Anyone want to figure this out for us?

                            so this is the puzzle

                            ____________________________
                            ___-I

                            ____________________________

And we have a path ahead, one to our left, one to our right... those are Roman numerals, -I=-1, V=5 and XI=11, it looks like a map of some sort, where -1 stands for the road ahead, 5 stands for the road to the left and 11 for the road to the right.

                            ____________________________
                            ____^
                            ____-1
                            <5_____1
                            ____________________________

From this point onwards, as far as I can oversee it, the numbers can mean anything. The minus one can mean that if we chose the path forward, we may lose a team member... -1 is a negative, and negative is... negative, so we may even wish to cross out that one early... 11 and 5... maybe the number indicates how many robots can fit on the route, maybe it is how many opponents we will meet, who can tell?

                            Anyone?:P

Well, even though I'm technically retired, I still gotta contribute, right?

Hmm....I don't trust the -I path, that's for sure. I think I'd better wait for the majority.

I agree that -I should be avoided, but maybe that's what they want us to think...

A through pricess last night resulted in the conclusion XI, so I'm going to suggest that route.
