Was at a pub quiz the other night there with a picture round titled I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here Contestants (don't worry, there is a point to this story). One of the photos was of that girl from BBC show The Real Hustle but with a strange twist, and not the twist you might be hoping/thinking of....

Looks like a picture taken in 2003 or 2004 at the Newark Event. We had page 3 girls there. Nice view I have to admit.

Hi Jamie,

Yes you are right it was Blue. This was our first attempt at pneumatics not running with co2 but running with a little compressor and a buffer tank. Its first hit gave 140 PSI quite a clout then dropped 120 on its second hit and each hit after dropping at least 20PSI so after 5 hits we had to try run and hide for about 20 - 25 seconds to let it build back up to pressure. As I recall the 50 mil ram and buffer tank was given to another roboteer and the body work was given away as a raffle prize at one of Roming Robot's events.

I wondered if anyone had tried incorporating a compressor into a robot.

I don't know much about Pneumatics, but I'm assuming it easy enough to get enough gas into a robot for a 3minute bout.

You would assume wrong. There is a good reason compressors have a pressure tank, the compressor would not be able to keep up with the cylinder otherwise. With the weight of a pressure tank and a compressor it already is much more sensible to get a fire-extinguisher or a paintball bottle in the robot.
