  • Cassius 3?

Its a while ago now, but Im sure I heard somewhere that there was a Cassius 3, with a spinner on the back instead of the spike - is this true? If so, has it fought anywhere?

      Cassius 3?

ummm.... just wondering if it conformed to all the FRA regulations.
I only ask as Rex is not what you would call a regular and I know his opinions on sfae practise differ to most from the robotwars side.
Not accusing or anything, just wondering if, haveing made the investment to conform to FRA rules Rex might show up to more events. I know I for one would be delighted to see him more often.

        Cassius 3?

I dont remember the spikes, but when I spoke to Rex about it in 2002 the flywheel was a thing of the past due to space requirements. Cassius III was running on half the design number of drive motors at Debenham 2002, and duly smoked them by over-stressing them. Im trying to remember whether it had a brief run at the 2003 rumble.

The original Cassius has been on show (not competing) at the last three Robot Rumbles. Rex has been a judge (when not holding things up by wandering around the pits) in the last two.

It would be nice to see him back on the general circuit - although since Ive mostly been to the Rumbles Ive probably not noticed his absence. Id be interested to know whether he considers the FRA guidelines to be acceptable. I dont know whether hes still doing special effects, but obviously any show he attends is going to risk his reputation more than that of the average roboteer. Heres hoping George Francis might be able to drag him back onto the circuit...

Anyway, should you be reading this Rex, hope the legs feeling better and thanks for the swanee whistle (and construction lesson). :-)

            Cassius 3?

Cassius 3 made a brief appearance in the Channel 4 show Monster Garage last Friday when Rex was roped in to help Cookie & his mechanics turn a Rolls Royce Silver Shadow into a muck spreader, Rexs job was to make the mechanism to open the back of the car for the muck spreading.
