Will we ever get to see the new one in action? (assuming the 8th war never appears) Does anyone know if its coming to Newark this year?

Do you have the negatives? You might be able to talk Boots into sticking them on CD for you. Failing that, its grovel at a friend time. :-)
Im hoping you resolve it, because Im looking forward to seeing the new designs. Describe it/them for us, to tide us over?
(Must get a scanner myself. Recently spent ages trying to get a decent digital photo of someone elses photo which they wanted back; more hassle than it was worth, no matter how much I like my new camera.)

Sounds like what I saw at Wrexham last year. Presumably its had more done on it since then. I was talking to Arthur about it which was very interesting.
+ Completely modular construction,
+ tracks can be swapped for wheels, resulting in a speed increase by about 300%
+ Theres a dog clutch gear change incorperated in both drive systems
+ low gives about 30mph with wheels,
+ high about 120mph [i.e. a full body spinner mode]
+ axe also features a similar clutch so the axe can also be used as a front hinged flipper/self righter
+ Ti monocoque
+ magnets above tracks
+ lifter was more Biohazard style than the old lifter.
This is all from memory so some of it might be a bit out but the photo on my profile is quite detailed [you can see a hobby RC servo near the bottom of the photo that was used to change gears in the drive train] needless to say the whole thing was magnificently engineered.
If anyone wants more photos Ive got a couple of others showing more detail in the gearing, just email me.
It would be interesting to know what progress has been made since then.

Interesting, Mark - thank you.
Im not sure about this full-body spinner thing (obviously basing this on little information) - they seem a bit of a funny shape for it. Im a bit hazy on the point of the magnets above tracks thing. Is this the one aimed at BattleBots (metal arena floor, extra grip, type thing)?
Ill be interested to see progress. Ill get in touch about the pictures once Ive got my email sorted, Mark (about to move house, bad time to fill my quota...)
Good to see the old girl back, even if not quite ready for action.

I should have expanded on the magnets bit. They would be there for added downforce in the battlebots arena, yes. Im guessing this would be to hold the robot down when they fire the axe or for extra traction when pushing someone.
Incidently, one for your innovations thread, SOW ICE has magnetic tracks but for a slightly different reason. The robot produces so much torque on spin up of the cage that the body would spin round in the opposite direction, equal and opposite forces and all that.

Guys.
I do know that the Mortis chaps are talking of hopefully having something up and running for our event at Cosford, fingers crossed that they manage to fit it round their somewhat busy lives.
Ive been trying to talk Arfa/Rob into getting something up and running for about 2 years now, so therell be no one more pleased to see it than me if they do!

But if they go to Battlebots, doesnt that mean they cant compete over here? (or does that stupid rule only apply to RW and not to live events?)
Sounds like the best bot ever, heres hoping it can attend some other RR events too. (hopefully Newark, Edinburgh and Liverpool so I can get to see it)
