I first heard about Merlin in 2004 (maybe before then or after then) and I thought it was completely rubbish. It fact my mate thought it was rubbish. BUT HAS ANYONE SEEN IT FIGHT My god its good. Does TeamMAD think of telling us some of its stats?

    Hi Paul, was abit worried reading the first few lines then! A few quick stats and bits of info for you;

Were currently on the 3rd Merlin, it was built for the UK Champs last year, went into the arena having never driven or flipped before! It got to the knock-out rounds, but went out to Pulverizer where we suffered a strange battery failure (never happened before, not happened since) but went on to win the Tag Team with Velocarippa. It came 3rd in the 2006 Winter tour (having one of our best fights aginst Storm 2 in the play-off). It went over to Dublin at the beginning of the year and won the competition, beating Big Brother in the Semis then Ripper in the final. It then got the final of the 2007 Robot Rumble, but due to damage from a previous fight against THZ our flipper wasnt sitting properly.

Its in need of abit of TLC over the winter ready for next year, along with a few upgrades.

    Specs:

    2x Bosch 750s
    3x 24v 3Ah NiCad BotPacks
    Vantec RDFR47e control
    Spectrum RC
    3.2mm Titanium Top and base
4mm Hardox sides, back and front.
    Top Speed 12MPH
Full Pressure flipper, producing about 3tonnes and 900Kg at tip of arm.

Some bits on our Site http://www.teammad.co.ukwww.teammad.co.uk (in need of updating) also some pics of it on http://www.robotslive.co.ukwww.robotslive.co.uk and videos here; http://www.youtube.com/user/teammadhttp://www.youtube.com/user/teammad

Ive heard about it - you make DVDs from your events. How many are there and just what are they like, the cost and where can I buy them?

Paul, its 3 tonnes of force at the ram, 900 kg of force at the tip of the arm. Thats because some dude named Archimedes invented leveradge.

Hi Paul, Leos correct the ram produces 3 tonne but due the leverage it means we only get 900kg at the tip, but does means we get the travel and velocity required at tip.

We dont currently have any Robots Live DVDs yet, we are planning on one this year, possibly the Burgess Hill event.

                      Hi Paul,

The 2007 Uk Champs DVD is for sale now, should be online in our shop very soon.

We have just had a new batch of 2006 DVDs produced as there is still a demand for it, available via the shop.

                      Thanks

                          John,

                          E-mail Dave or Alan Young.

We are going as it is not that far from us.

We will be taking the usual lot (whirlpool shockwave etc.) and we may have a couple of new ones to test.

                          Will

                            John,

The london expo is more of a demo event with the small heavy weight arena. We are also only allowed a small number of robots. This years London show is full, but theres always next year.
