  • Titanium thickness?

    What would be your guy's recommendation for thickness of titanium? I was planning on making a robot that would have a lot of angular pieces, and I want to use titanium to ensure that my hard work in cutting and welding doesn't get torn apart.

    if you think another metal is more suitable for this, let me know, I am fully up to recommendations. I would be doing a 3lb/ 1.36kg robot.

      Given my robot Anvil was reduced to scrap and was made of 1.5mm Grade 5 Titanium... thciker than that. But Newton didn't just break the welds, it cut clean through it leaving 30-40mm long cuts, you may want something less expensive that doesn't require a welder to fix.

        6mm would render you pretty safe but is somewhat overkill.
        A 3mm plate at an angle should deflect enough.

        Seeing as each spinner has it's own angle, you'll never be fully safe...
        Even 6mm thick titanium can be ripped off if hit right...

        As always in these matters, it all boils down to the moment and the effect in play.

          Would using 6061 t6 aluminum be more reasonable?
