Would a really tough fast narly brick without much of a wedge be good to chuck in with spinners and wedges?

  • #2
Comes down to driving skill in that instance one would think if the brick doesn't have any active weaponry and/or exploitable ground clearance in the case of wedges. Against spinners, depends on how slab sided it was.

It'd just be built for fun and to have a go at building a cheap heavy.

Have a go! Though I'd at least fit it with some wedgelets if you're not wanting to do a full wedge

I can build a wedge, it was just an idea of thought of.

To ask a stupid question is it worth building a heavyweight? I'm right on the limit of clicking "buy" on the components, but want to check to see if the EO's plan on running spinners more and more at events first?

The arena at Robots Live! cannot handle spinners of any description at the moment. Extreme Robots can but in the MW/HW categories, it is limited to 125mph. As far as HW spinner numbers go, I can think of Aftershock, Donald Thump, Tauron and Magnetar as being some of the big hitters at the moment but I don't think I've ever seen them all together at the same event.

If you really didn't want to face a spinner, you could mention it to the EOs at EXR but that might limit you to whiteboard/show matches only.

                Hi David

In case you haven't seen it yet, Extreme Robots have released a plan regarding how they plan to run events. They specifically mention a non-spinner HW division, so if you don't want to face spinners, you won't have to.
