Now, that looks like a neat robot. It has a front higned flipper, which is good. Has it taken part in Robot Wars?

It still looks like a robot that could do well, even though they didnt do that well in series 7.

It goes to quite a few live events. Doesnt compare much to rear hinged flippers as it can never (well nearly never) get under anyone else, when it does get a chance to flip its a pretty decent bot though - the self righting is particularly cool.

Kevin, it seems you think front hinged flippers are much better - not much to back up that claim though atm

Well, its my opinion. I was talking to Stu and we debated it. The conclusions I came to is that a) if you are flipped, you can guarenteed self right with a front flipper. b) that robots mostly have good ground clearance on them to get under (ex Pussycat, Dantomkia, Kan Opener.

A front hinged flipper is more a defensive weapon than an offensive weapon if the driver is less than competent.

          Thats my two quid.

With a front hinged flipper you need to get under youre opponents robot more for a flip to be effective. But if you do, you already have the opponent in the air, making the flip al the more usefull. The flipper trajetory is better for rolling the opponent over as well.

But as a rule id prefer a back hinged flipper over a front hinged one. Robots like Taurus, Firestorm and Mute prove that a front hinged one is not a bad thing though. And having seen what Taurus can do now that they run on 36V instead of 24V that they were on i can say its a good robot with loads of pushing power too.

You only need to flip a robot over to immoblise it usually. Flipping it OOTA is just showing off.

You only need to flip a robot over to immoblise it usually - three years ago, maybe, but Id say as much as 95% of heavyweights can selfright or are invertable atm

I would say its closser to 99.99999% ewan, realistically you cant flip someone over and think right thats the fight over, if your a flipper you must either flip oota or flip down the pit.

...or 10ft in the air so they break internal components on impact.

...or combine them both like Wheely Big Cheese did and flip them 10ft+ in the air and out of the arena in the same shot (Poor Axe-Awe)
