Help wanted with ian swann interface board

i got my speedos and interface today i have wired it up but the interface board doesnt conect to the laptop not the wire to put into the laptop when i click test and cal the window comes up and its says conection with board lost then goes back off any ideas?

also you know the leads from the receiver to the interface board i cut up some olds servos for the leads and conected the wires together is that ok or do i need some special leads?

btw the red led stays on all the time but the green led is flashing at the same time.

any help would be greaty be appreciated.

Been there, blown it up, bought a Vantec...

If the servo leads conduct electricity i dont see why they wouldnt work.

Have you got the ribbon wire that goes from your speedo to your interface the right way round? its possible to connect them up backwords and they wont work at all..try turning them round.

Due to the fact that your red light is on shows that your in failsafe mode. What you got powering the board? It needs around a 9v supply for it to run.

is that the yellow switch what is called rst?

and if i switch it how long do i leave the switch on? do i just switch it then switch it back off again?

RST ushually stands for reset, I think in the manuel it sais hold it down for 3-5 seconds.

Ive got kennys old board, ive managed to reset it and reprogram - its happy now, and the test/cailbrate shows its outputs are perfect. Trouble is when I plug into 4qds I get nothing except the ignition powering up ?? any ideas

dom has just pointed out the technobots uses reversed cables - just checked and hes right. Hope i havent blown up the output circuits !
