Scandium?

Ive been going over my periodic table (whoopee chemistry ) and I think that scandium is lighter and tougher than titanium. Is this true? I hope this doesnt turn into a dead thread.

Correct, it is stronger and lighter than Titanium.

But is it weldable, is it affordable, isnt it poisonous?

Its probably weldable, surely not poisonous, but it costs more than gold.

In other words, titanium grade 5 will do nicely for teams with good resorces.

General Description:

Scandium was discovered in 1879 by L.F. Nilson and takes its name from the Latin word Scandia, meaning Scandinavia.

Scandium is a soft, silvery white metal. It has been identified in several minerals, including cerite, orthite, thertveitite, wolframite and euxenite (a niobate, tantalate and titanate of several rare elements in which scandium was originally discovered). It is a metal which tarnishes in air (shows a pink colouration), burns easily and reacts with water to produce hydrogen gas.

Applications for scandium have not yet been fully investigated and its use is limited primarily to research.

Maybe, now to get a metalproducing company to make that alloy.
And then it will be like 95% Ti,3% ali,1.7% vanadium and .3% scandium.
And that will raise the price with 200% and more compared with a simular weight Ti alloy
