Sorry for another thread but I'm after some lighter 24v batteries for smidsy but don't know a good place to find any, anyone it any good places? What I'm really after is Nicads or Nimh but I don't know what packs I could use that can stand the discharge

buy craigs a123s in the for sale section (unless they've been sold already). better than nimh or nicd.

If your on a budget go to vapextec on eBay for cheap Minh packs
They are on eBay not sure if they have their own website.

          Re: Batteries

I thought I would need a higher discharge rate as their only rated too 30a?

            Re: Batteries

Can't remember the discharge rate but I thought it was closer to 50amps PER PACK you will need 3 or 4 in parallel to give around 10 -12 amps ish !

                Re: Batteries

                $$@@ me , Per Bosch 6 you mean ?. I only had 3 of that size 4300 x 3.
Some robots use 3300 x 4, some got away with 3300 x 3 but of a pack goes down
In a fight then you will cook the remaining 2 packs.

                  Re: Batteries

aight, you'll need 6 total 12v packs 4.3ah or similar sized packs. wired in series into 3 24v packs then wire those 3 packs in paralel.

vapextech only have 3 12v packs in there store, the highest mah being 4600, and costing £34 ea. so 6x£34 = £204

craig's a123 packs are £60 ea so £180 for all 3. cut off 2 cells from each pack leaving you with 3 28v packs and 6 spare cells. then use the turningy accucel 8 charger ($43 off hobbyking) to charge the packs. would probably work out slightly more due to postage etc but would be alot better.

                      Re: Batteries

So are you using 9.6v packs in series to give 19.2v on 24v motors ?
I thought you had a 24v system where you will require 10-12 amps.
I use about 5 amps per fight on a123's.

                          Re: Batteries

50amp discharge isn't enough, you would need at least 5packs in parallel (so 10 in all if they're 12v packs). As you're 4wd you will need more power than most.

Ouch, don't think I could afford 10 packs if they only last one fight
