  • Problems with 4qd 200 speedo

    I need some advice on the 4QD €˜4QD 200€™ speedo€™s
Running our first full test of our new robot last night and when we hit full speed the motor would cut out and remained dead, yet everything else was still working. We shut everything down, then switched everything back on and the motor had come back to life. Ran it around again and the same thing happened. Something seems to be cutting out when we reach full speed.

Any fellow 4QD 200 users, (or anyone), out there have any ideas?

Set up is 24V, 4QD 200, Technobots power drive motor and Delbots weapon interface. (we only have one drive motor)

    Thanks

What battereis are you using? It sounds like the low voltage cutoff activating. Check that the voltage at the speedo isnt dropping too much under load. Cant think of anything else that could cause that at the moment.

      Hi Mark,

Funnily enough we€™re just looking at that idea now. Seems that one of our batteries might have died on us!

      Thanks for the help.

The 200 and 400 controllers have a very annoying feature where if the voltage goes too low, it shuts down and you need to cycle the power to bring it back.

I would only suggest you use better batteries which will hold a high voltage whilst delivering high currents. Hawkers for example.

The feature cannot easily be disabled - and god knows I tried!

when testing air and thor we turned the gain down slightly and they ran with no problems until the batteries were flat with no cut off. hope this helps.

See http://www.4qd.co.uk/serv/4QDuvp.htmlwww.4qd.co.uk/serv/4QDuvp.html for changing the under voltage protection on 4QD 200 and 400 controllers.

              Thats cool. Easy then!

It was actually Richard.T who said it could not easily be disabled at the time - I guess he had a flash of inspiration!
