I dont think skuttle (scuttle?) qualifies as a walker - doesnt that fall into a shufflebot category? Someone will enlighten you shortly Im sure, but thats the impression I get.

Im almost certain that a Scuttle type arrangement wont qualify as a walker. To get the extra weight limit, youd need legs like a giant insect (take http://www.use-the.net/robots/flik/walker.htm>

Didnt the guys behind scuttle build a walker along the same lines that did qualify as a walker. Anarchy or somthing like that I think.

I think the wheels on the top may be a problem though.

I also considered building a walker along the lines of scuttle and I worked out that by extending the legs out the top you can actually make a walker that will work both ways up. But it would leave your leg mechanism exposed to axes and crushers. So maybe a good SRMech would be a better option.

Yes, Mike Franklin built Anarchy as well. But the German walker Ansgar (which has a very similar walking system), werent allowed to enter Series 7 (they were allowed to enter the world championships though).

the wheels as far as i can see would be a no no because then u could flip urself over with a flipper underneath and then drive about and use the same flipper as a weapon

This may not be your intention but if your building a walker then i wouldnt put anything but legs on it!

My opinion is still that its against the rules. But theres only one way to find out, mail Phantom Events and ask for their opinion.

I was a bit surprised originally that Skuttles mechanism counts as a walker - although its indubitably clever. A thought some versions of the rules once said something about independant horizontal and vertical motion for each appendage (as Miss Struts had, for example).

Someday well see one of those competitive.

Didnt scuttle bots such as Anarchy get 160kg for weight? I think when Anarchy was made the rules were changed to disqualify them from the 200kg weight.
