Re: ebay links Reply with quote
Apparently came from an old robot wars robot, might be useful to someone building a heavy as it comes with 4QD ESC's and an old set of radio gear, might be a good start for someone.

My old man brought these from ebay as he is going to build a heavy. He got the instrucions on the 4Qds website, its two ncc-70 controllers connected to some pentomiters on servos.

Anyways after reading the instructions he thought he would try and get the motors going but if he hooks up any power to the speed controller it just gives a BIG spark at the terminal as if it is shorted. Took the motors off to see if they were seized or something and trying to draw huge currents when connecting the power but evan with the motors not connected to ESC it arcs out at terminal. Any ideas on what could be causing this. It doesnt appear that any part of the speed controller is burnt out.

Hope it isnt too terminal as the guy he got them from is not returning his email!

They will spark abit when you first connect as they are charging the capacitors, put a fuse in-line and try it, at least if something is wong that will blow. Better still if you have a clamp meter.

Got it sorted! Seems the sparks were just the caps charging after all. Turned out there was a dodgy connection on the ignition switch so we changed that an all is working
