I have been offered a fully working wheel chair and was wondering if any of the parts in the title would be usable as I can just over time start to collect bits for a heavyweight

Motors are a definite yes, I am using them on Scar and also have a new set on the way. Wheels, I suppose so yeah they will attach straight on and, if they're free you cant go wrong with that. Batteries, maybe, though I havent used them. Using the setup as it is almost guarantees that it will work, and will also keep the costs down. If you decide at some point that some or all of the parts can be upgraded and you're enjoying the world of heavies, then go for it. Thats would be my thinking anyways.

Generally if its free, I would say take it!

If I were to use those, add another set of wheels and make it 4wd I could be onto a robot that might hold it's own as a pusher in the arena?

My wheelchair motors are currently stationary (I think the last time they worked was on Robot Wars series 4 ) but from what ive heard there are better options out there for pushing power. But by no means useless

all i would be after to start with is a robot that can just hold its own in the arena when eventually upgrade to a flipper system similar to merlin

yes wheelchair motors work on heavyweights although as some of them are quite slow (7mph) you may need to either use different gearing, bigger wheels or change one of the gearbox gears to one with a lower amount of teeth which is what the pair i've sold to tony have i beleive. the batteries may be useable it depends on there voltage/amperage/weight and if they will leak acid allover the arena if flipped as can happen with non sealed lead acid batteries. for armour i'd strongly suggest investing with hardox armour as it does seem to be the way forward.

i'd consider the cost, time and skill required to build a fully functional heavyweight that won't get trashed in its 1st fight before you commence your build. but don't let me put you off also if you can get most of the parts for free go for it

its a heavyweight that is going to be a 'keep costs as low as possible' one that will also still work. we already own a wealder for steel and its fairly readily avalible around my area so i would probably go with it

Personally, I would use the free battery for testing, then when you're ready to fight you can buy ones that are more appropriate, assuming the one you're getting with the chair isn't. But then i'm a Scotsman so i'm pretty tight...

im from the midlands so we are also tight

this would probably take about 2 years too build probably from a cash point of view but i going with the 'keep costs low yet build it right' theory. its going to hopfully have a very powerful electric lifter similar to bio-hazard since there aint as many safety ruels as with CO2 powered ones and my knowledge of electric lifters is far better than CO2 powered ones.

8mm steel armour and hardox parts for the lifter. will run fully inverted.

one question, how far can you over volt wheel chair motors?

it differs for every motor, as a general rule only overvolt to 150% unless you're sure that the motors can take more
