hi people, going to a robotslive demo in telford tomorrow and need some help. recently fitted a watty and specktrum to the hw. problem is occasionally every 30 seconds or so, when turning left or right or forwards it just cuts out for a 2 or 3 seconds, then it goes again fine for a minute or so then do it again.

Do you have a circuit breaker or fuses inline with the controller? If not then I would say that the current limiting is working on the board and cutting out power to the motors. We had the same problem with our Watty, Ian said there must have been a faulty batch of voltage regs. It is an easy fix, if it is the same problem, best email Ian to ask the question.
Try move the stick very slowly up to full speed, I think you will find that it gets there without cutting out. Also if you can check to see where the two current limit pots are set to. They should be set nearly all the way clockwise (which is maximum limit). It is one pot per motor so they both need to set exactly the same.

ok, i opened the watty and turned current limit pots to max (fully clockwise), but this didnt make any difference. also i have 2 servos that power microswitches to the weapon. before i used to use a nicad pack to power these, but now i noticed without this pack their is still power for the servos. i presume they get their power from the watty now? im crap with electrics and i just plugged everything in as per the instructions. and forgot to plug in the nicad pack but realised everything worked without it.

Yes the Wotty now has a Battery Eliminator so you dont need the nicad pack for servos or reciever. There is a voltage reg on the opposite end of the heatsink to the end where the current limit pots are. Check it for any burn marks or damage to the chip itself. I would have a look for you but Im not going tomorrow, sorry.

The Watty is as I see them still a product in development. No doubt some errors will be in them, but in time these things will be terrific. I like the concepts behind them and the way Ian Watts seperated the steering electronics from the power section.
I do feel they are very big though. But thats probably because I am so used to Sidewinders by now.
