did you collect all the magazines alistair? i did but glad i didnt pay for it- massive cost at the end of it all

No I stopped after the Formula 1 body kit , as it felt stupid paying for a body kit even though the robot wasnt finished

Gary, I am at Perth college. This is my chosen engineering project while other students chose easy way outs like a microwave or a plug. Robots interest me so I thought this would be a great project.

well if you can make down to edinburgh at some point then give me a shout and i will let you take a look in my garage. I dont think I will be heading up to Perth at any point although I was actually a student there last year. I was doing a part time business course whilst working at Rolls-Royce.

Nice college but the chips in the canteen suck!

It is the plastic knifes and forks they give you that really annoy me. It is not as if i am gonna stab the chef over the bad food

Come back with a inventive idea, or at least I think so. Could I use some sort of clutch system to swing over the arm in my robot. Clutch like in a car, you can move power back and forth by separating and joining the plates. Would this work for the tail if it was mounted on a free moving axis?

You intend to drive the tail seperately?

Well with 2 separate drive wheels on either side, if I could transfer 48v and 1500watts of power to the tail if im sitting pretty, it could be devastating no?

The reaction force of the motors in your drive wheels needs somewhere to go to enable it to actually drive .... usually the weapon tail.

Im unsure of exactly what your design is.... some sketches of the overall concept would help.

48v 1500 watts is a bit low on power IMHO.
