  • Nano Tech vs Nano Tech plus

Hi everyone, might be a noob question. But does anyone know the difference between the nano tech and nano tech plus batteries? Want to get a 3300mah 4s battery with XT90 connector, but the original nano techs for that are discontinued. Would I run into any problems with it's nano tech 'plus' equivalent?

    Thanks in advance!

I doubt it. So long as the battery meets the rules, you should be OK. Sounds like they may have changed how the batteries are made but otherwise they should be OK. Got a link handy as to what you are looking at?

Hi mate, so here's the one I originally wanted:

      And here's the equivalent:

Should be fine by the looks of it. The "plus" thing looks to be just related to how the battery is built.

Thanks for your help! One last question, what rated fuse would I use with the nano tech plus battery?

The rules say a LiPo battery must be fitted with a fuse that is rated below the burst discharge rating of the battery (rule 7.8.3 of the current 2018 rules).

So 3.3aH * 150C = 495 amps, which is maddeningly high. Even the constant C is still over 200. TBH, I'd fit something like a 80 amp fuse which is way below the ratings of the battery but I've yet to blow a 80A fuse in either my Featherweight or my Middleweight.

Awesome, I did do that equation myself and thought I was calculating it wrong because 495 amps is... a lot!! Thanks for you help, it's really appreciated. I seem to remember you helping me on this forum a couple years ago too, your good work doesn't go unnoticed
