  • Spektrum DX7S mixing

Hi all, I am in the process of building a featherweight robot and have now finished installing of the electrical components. The robot is driven by the 2 rear wheels. One separate motor and esc per wheel going into a 4ch receiver.

I have managed to do some mixing on the DX7S to get both motors driving forward and backward but am really struggling to get the motors to turn in different directions (like a tank) when the stick is pushed left and right.

I am using AIL & ELE on the right stick.

    Any help would be great.

    Thanks

If you've enabled elevon mixing on the TX for forwards and backwards then it should just "work" for side to side motion. I have known instances where if the TX has mixing enabled and ESC has mixing enabled, that can have unusual outcomes though I am guessing there are two separate ESCs in play here, one going into the AIL channel and one going into the ELE channel?

You are correct, I am running separate ESC's. One plugged into AIL and the other in ELE. They both do not have mixing capabilities so I am just trying to do it on the TX. I've mixed the 2 channels so both motors engage forward and backward. I've tried setting up a third mix for the elevon and AIL with +100% and -100% but all that happens is one motor will turn on not both in different directions.

I hope this makes sense, I beginning to confuse myself :-)

      Thanks

You have two mixes go on in the same TX? I did that once in my OrangeRX system I seem to recall which led to a lot of odd stuff going on.

In the end, I only needed Elevon mixing enabled. I would turn off all mixing in the TX and then set the wing type to Elevon and see if you can set AIL > ELE (I think) on the mixing screen. I think that might help though I must confess, I don't have a DX7S so can't verify that.
