  • Feedback on a planned Feather weight

    Hi all,

I am waiting on the fabricator to deliver the shell of Evil K'Weevil and I am working on a feather weight concept.

Aligrator - A reptile themed vertical spinner

Before I get too far into the design I would appreciate some feedback on some basics. Before I go to far down the wrong track.

I know there is no such thing as a typical robot but I will ask anyway -

    What is a typical size? Would H 200 x W 250 x D 400 be larger or smaller than average?

How much weight do people allocate to chassis and armour vs weapons/motor/battery etc. 70/30? Also do robots normally use the full allocation?

Look for a new thread in the Build diary section soon.....

    Cheers

Feathers do tend to use their full weight allocation. Couldn't say what component allocations people have though.

Your size sounds about right (The Honey Badger is 68cm length x 51cm width x 23cm height for comparison).

The only other thing you may wish to consider is having a different weapon for different events. Extreme Robots and the FW championship will allow the spinner up to a point I think but if you wanted to go to Robots Live, you wouldn't be able to use it.
