  • Regicide Build (FW)

    Hi everyone.

After many month of procrastination and start stop building I've decided to make a build thread so that I'll get my robot finished soon.

After months of designing, binning and some more designing I went with a full pressure flipper. And thanks to Maddox10 I'm weapon ready.

One problem I have is that I need to get the pneumatics system certified for competition and in Ireland I'm struggling to find a place to do this......can anyone help?

Electrics wise I have no problems I just need to get my mig welder out and make a chassis.

Also I was thinking about making a second featherweight after this one, a spinner powered by a nitro engine as all I see are electric motors everywhere (not that i don't like them) but I fancy a unique challenge, wasn't Warhead's disk powered by a petrol motor at the beginning??? Maybe I'm wrong. Are featherweights allowed a tank of fuel???

Oh I have an instagram account dedicated to the build if you fancy a look at what I'm up to.......shameless plug :P

I am sure it was powered by a IC engine in Battlebots Season 5.0 - http://battlebots.wikia.com/wiki/Warhead

Be interesting to hear how you solve the fuel supply problem. Getting thrown around isn't great to consistent supply of fuel. Basically the fuel needs to be squeezed towards the fuel line and pump, no matter which way up.

plus starting a nitro engine connected to a weapon might be interesting

The torque of a high end Nitro Engine is feeble compared to any decent brushless. That fact alone is a killer.

Starting one is also a pain,, or a pullstart before the fight, and hope it won't stall.
Or an electric starter, what needs a motor that could do the job as well or better on its own.

Looking at the startup issues with Nitro RC cars when the weather changes or the mixture is a little different or the sleeve is wearing out etc I would never think of using a nitro-methane engine in a combat robot.

              Ok thanks guys,

Still think I'm going to do it though I mean for me the engineer in me wants to make something that is new and different to the normal work. I think I maybe don't take this as serious as others do, I want to create something crazy and mad I don't really care about winning I just want to meet up have fun and make new friends.

In other news a friend in Birmingham has invited me over and seeing as I still need to get this pneumatics system certified does anyone know a place I can get this done near there?

              Please Help
