  • ESCs

I recently bought a pair of 11.1v/3S, 2650 mAh LiPos, and I am planning to run them in series to power my 18v drill motors (which I will be usinf for drive.) I also plan to run a hammer off of these batteries, using a 24v scooter motor (which I have yet to buy.)

I now need to purchase ESCs for these- first and foremost, I need some for the drive, although it would be good to buy one for the hammer motor too (though I understand that, having not yet bought it, I may not have enough info on the scooter motor to buy an ESC for it- all I know is that it will be 24v.) Does anyone have any suggestions on ESCs that they have used/would be suitable for either the hammer or drive?

    Thanks.

if its the common scooter motor people seem to use, its the large diameter one - something like this http://img.auctiva.com/imgdata/4/7/8...09684322_o.jpg - a 24v 500 watt. These are usually connected to a 30amp max/peak current of 30 amps.

However, alot of people use Botbitz TZ85A converted ESC to run these motors. - UK supplier http://ranglebox.com/product/botbitz...2-brushed-esc/ or DIY witha hobbyking purchase (other libnks available but this was a quick google search: http://www.robowars.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1609)

I will be using a self programmed TZ85a to power my 250watt 24v electric scooter motor.

    Others may use other things...

I would go for the reprogrammed TZ85. That's about as foolproof as it can be for RW.

We're using a SimonK flashed one in Kashei, on the axe powered with a NTM5060 380KV

Thank you for the info, but I am slightly confused on the scooter motor- if it's meant to run on a max current of 30ah, would I need 30ah batteries? The ones I have are only 2650mAh.

Fast explanation. That motor is rated for 30 ampère continous use. Not 30 ampère hours

If you want to run it for an hour at the rated load, yes. But as our fights are at longest 5 minutes, you'll need a lot less. About 10 times less. Also, you're not running all out for the full fight.

Kashei uses a 5000mAh 4S pack. Just to give you an idea.

Ah, thank you for that (as you can probably tell, I have had little-to-no experience with this sort of thing before now!) I will hopefully be buying that motor for the hammer.
