If someone were to build a feather to take on the nastiest of the current feather spinners, how thick would the sides, Base and lid need to be?

I would say, 20mm sides at least, lid and top 8mm.
But then you're getting in Hardox weightrange (25mm HDPE=3.2mm Hardox450), and good angled Hardox is better armor than HDPE in any thickness.
I'm in the same dilemma on what armor to go for, hardox, titanium or hdpe.
I'm siding more with Titanium and Hdpe rather than hardox mainly because of weight concerns.
For 3.2mm hardox I can get 6mm of titanium or 25mm of hdpe so I'm inclined to use titanium for the front ( thinking it will be more rigid than hardox ) and hdpe sides....I could be wrong tho

Gonna have a look at ordering some hdpe today and see how much 20mm. I'm building a thwack bot so it's just to make the main box out of really. The hdpe seems a bit easier to work with and get hold of even though I can see why people recommend hard ox as well :-)

So for a wedge-like shape, it seems top/bottom made from (thin) metal to keep the edge sharp and sides from thick hdpe seem to be a good idea.
now assuming the sides can't be angled, 20mm hdpe sounds strong enough, or should it be something else? maybe some composite from materials?
And what would be the best way to fasten different materials onto each other?
