  • Swiss Army Bots?

What is the general ruling around "Swiss Army Bots" in the FRA feather contests? To clarify, a robot with swappable weapon modules or armour options.

Does the weight of all the modules combined + robot need to equal the weight limit? Or does each configuration just need to be within weight? Or is this not allowed and classed as a different bot all together? I for one don't have a problem with people swapping weapons between fights, but I can definitely see why some might. If there is no strict ruling around this, what are peoples opinions on this?

Swiss Army machines are defenitly allowed, but are rarely seen.

The weight of such a machine is meassured in its heaviest configuration. And yes, then it will have to be in weight.

Swapping between fights is allowed, and in theory nobody can use the rules to stop you.

I think there's also an unwritten rule that if you're swapping more than you're leaving on the robot it's not the same one so not allowed

It's obviously all down to the judges so if I changed 10kg of a 13kg machine I reckon they'd have issue - best thing to do would be to email whichever EO it concerns and ask!

As for the specific rules, it's just the heaviest setup that it's weighed with, as long as that's in weight you're fine.
