anybody know how to make cheap speedos from about £5-£20, suitable for 12v wind screen wiper motors

If you only intend to use windscreen wiper motors you can get away with just these microswitches.

Those arent spdt relays though theyre spco and spno relays. but im not sure it matters

SPDT: Single Pole Double Throw
SPCO: Single Pole Change Over
Basically they are the same thing, 5 pins, 2 for the coil, a common, normally open and normally closed.
SPNO: Single Pole Normally Open.
This has 4 pins, 2 for coil, a common and a normally open.
