Solenoid Valve - Voltage

I'm running a 18v system but solenoids come in 12 or 24 volt versions. My question is which is the best option and what do you guys do to adjust the volts.

Feeding a 12V solenoid 18V for a short while ain't a problem. Feeding a 24V solenoid 18V can give a lack of power, failing operation.

I solve that with a voltage booster.
With a 3S LiPo or 4S LiFePo4 the Burkerts in H3 or Defector get 36V when fired.
