  • simple started build cassius

    Hi all

    new to all this.

i am wanting to build a featherweight/ half size cassius I, just for a bit of fun, not to do anything serious.

Unfortunately i know bu99er all about electrics, my knowledge lies more in building steam powered stuff!

I was wondering if there are any guides, or if anybody could advise me on what parts i could use, and where from.
such as motors/ gearboxes, speed controllers, simple pneumatic systems.
but will still have a bit of speed and power.

    would be much appreciated, thanks!
    Andy

Hi great idea and welcome, if you can build steam robots are a walk in the park, my dad fiddles about with steam engines

These are the speedcontrollers to use, they're the best, performance/value

Motors good value here, choose 18v

      Make your own wheels

Then read the FRA rules, ensuring you include fuses links etc. you should try and ensure it ends up the maximum weight allowed, rules I follow, build it as small as possible using up the wieght for strength so you might want to change your scale to 1/3 or 1/4

For pnumatics, look through liftoffs build diary
