    hi all

i am looking to build myself a feather weight and start compeating but i was reading through the rules after not having looked into robots for a long time and am slightly confused by the restrictions for lipo batteries having used lipos in other things i am wondering if you are only allowed to use the 7.4 batteries or if you can use 11.1 also the table in the rules about cell limits made no sence what so ever so if anyone can help me here it would be fantastic
    thanks muchly

The rules say you can use up to 12 lipo cells, this gives a total nominal voltage of 39.6V

11.1? Surely that wouldn't possible without one live chicken & a rabbi.

The rules allow up to 12 LiPo cells in series.
LiPo is 3.7V per cell, and the other allowed Lithium based battery, LiFePo4 is 3.3V per cell.

But, if you are used to NiCd or NiMH, 12 cells is only 14.4V. As each cell is 1.2V. For this technology the limit is 30 cells.

7.4V and 11.1V are completely within the rules, you can use 2 or 3 of those in series if you want and if the electronics can handle them. Don't forget to place a fuse (it helped us out big time yesterday).
