  • Right angle motor drive

    Hi

looking at building a new bot with Dewalt motor and gearboxes. Rather than have the motors inline with the wheel axles I want to drive the wheels with a right angle drive for packaging.
Did see the odd article on right angle gearboxes from angle grinders but can't find any robots utilising a right angle drive (excluding the Bosch 35W)
Anybody build a bot with right angle drives that hopefully are not fully custom?

I think skyfall uses/ used to use speed 900s and angle grinder gearbox gears.

Looks like Skyfall has moved on to use some custom pods http://www.fightingrobots.co.uk/thre...ld-diary/page7

Probably try and pick up one of those right angle Dewalts to strip down and have a look

Skyfall was supposed to use 90 degree gearboxes like you say, but the Speed 900s would have been too much for the gearbox, so we use motor-in-wheel setups like Tanto.
