  • Old model Scorpion XXL specs and mounting

A couple years ago I bought a scorpion XXL when it was first released for a featherweight project that failed to materialize. I want to use it in a featherweight now, but I can't find the specs (mainly the continuous and peak current draw) anywhere. I don't want to accidentally blow a perfectly good (and fairly expensive) speed controller. I think the current limit per channel for the XXL v1 is 15A continuous/30A peak, but I'm not sure.

Also, since the XXL v1 does not come with compatibility with a pre-made hard case, I need to make my own mount. I'm new to featherweights, and secure mounting for speed controls seems to be a more nuanced affair than electrical taping a fingertech esc to the baseplate of an antweight! I'm thinking of making a polycarbonate hard case for the XXL and isolating the esc from shock using rubber grommets.

Think my XXL v1 is 25A l and the v2 is 20A continuous, but its one of the ones that was modified from an XL. Mine is bolted down onto a sheet of polycarb which is bolted to the baseplate keeping the ESC batteries and rx all nice and tidy. Seems to be working so far.
